IRAN (is not the problem) is a feature length film responding to the failure of the American mass media to provide the public with relevant and accurate information about the standoff between the US and Iran, as happened before with the lead up to the invasion of Iraq.
We have heard that Iran is a nuclear menace in defiance of the international community, bent on "wiping Israel off the map", supporting terrorism, and unwilling to negotiate. This documentary disputes these claims as they are presented to us and puts them in the context of present and historical US imperialism and hypocrisy with respect to Iran.
It looks at the struggle for democracy inside Iran, the consequences of the current escalation and the potential US and/or Israeli attack, and suggests some alternatives to consider.
This 79 minute documentary features Antonia Juhasz (The Bu$h Agenda), Larry Everest (Oil, Power, and Empire), and other activists and Iranian-Americans. The DVD also contains a 20 minute preview version ideal for meetings. The goal of this movie is to promote dialog and change the debate on Iran, so please consider organizing a screening, big or small, in your area.
Produced by Aaron Newman, an independent film-maker and part of the Scary Cow film co-op in San Francisco. He is an anti-imperialism/pro-democracy activist, founder of the SF Chomsky Book Club, and a member of Hands Off Iran
There are differences of opinion between many of the voices in this film, but all agree that a war would be unjustified. Below are brief video introductions for each of the people who participated.
this is a great documentary....am watching for the second time with friends......
good video
This video hasn´t been shared with enough people.....
This documentary contains two of the most common mental traps: 1) That the wars are all about oil (they aren't, they are wars against Religion - how much money has the US earned from Iraq? Nothing, it has only gone bankrupt); 2) That Iran should adopt a "moderate" government (that is, to please our secular Western interests for easier dominion of that nation).
The comment made complete sense. The US economy is larger than any other countries' and thats why we need them. Otherwise why would people flock there every year? No government is without greed and corruption. Is it the most corrupt? No. Just because America is the largest producer of arms doesnt make it entirely respinsible for all conflict. Those responsible are the ones buying them and fueling their production, aka the conflicted regions like Somalia or the Congo. Btw i am Canadian.
Good thing GM killed the Electric car!
What is interesting is that the "Rebuilding America's Defenses" paper is that it was written prior to 9/11 and that they were calling for a "NEW PEARL HARBOR" lo and behold that "NEW PEARL HARBOR" came.
@germanicus24 1.) Short-term, perhaps. 2.) True: the "Western interests" you speak of actually prefer a defiant government, which is much easier to displace.
I am being CENSORED right now. The message I wanted to put here is being blocked by an "Error, try again" message from CZcams.
Some American citizens know the truth but we average citizens in the U.S. are just like citizens in dictatorship countries; we have no voice and no power in government. Our situation in the World today is just like the quote in the 1976 movie Network, "There are no countries any longer, there are only corporations" Watch the movie it has great insight into todays corporate media.
@germanicus24 I don't think there is anything wrond with the second part
Shia + Islam = Democracy not Dictatorship regime.
Why does Saddam Hussain need Iran's permission to attack kuwait?
Don't take my word for it, look it up yourself..
Or just watch the news if they do go to war.....
@germanicus24 also to protect US dollar reserve hegemony. Iran has now started selling oil in euros and yen, but if the US had not had time to prepare the results could have been unpleasant.
This film is still revelent and the reason Iran hasnt been attacked is because competent people are working to fight the corrupt powers....such as the creators and participators of this film. Help the fight for truth...spread this vid.
y? so i can listen to yall talk about how the government does all this too us?
@desiman1 Of course not for the money. Is the US more wealthy nowadays, or is it actually ruined and with an external debt of a 100% of its entire annual GDP? Even media says the US went into Iraq for money, but when has media ever told the truth? There are many deeper reasons for the Iraq war, not just money.
AIPAC
Why do you hate Iran?
IRAN IS NOT THE PROBLEM
its not just about oil...
its the american attitude, not all, but since world war 2,they want war they dont care about death,
i dont know they want to dominate, but its wrong..
@desiman1 Well gee, is it my fault that you change your line just to prove yourself "right". You didn't even read the comment of mine that you started to contest, which I guess explains your quality of reading the Quran...
I clearly said THE WARS ARE NOT ALL ABOUT OIL. And you contested my comment saying THEY ARE FIGHTING FOR THE MONEY. Then I continued to elaborate due to your lack of reading comprehension: THERE ARE MANY DEEPER REASONS FOR THE IRAQ WAR, NOT JUST MONEY.
There is a lot of inflammatory language and unsupported (I didn't say untrue, only unsupported) statements made in this film.
End result: persons who are watch and agree with this film would have agreed before watching. Persons who do not agree will consciously choose not to agree or tune out.
You may be right, you may be wrong, but to effect real change you have to swing the red states, not radicalize the already blue states.
Go trample someone on Black Friday so you can get a dvd for 3$ cheaper while Bradley Manning and Julian Assange run for their lives.
PEACE!
nothing new here. don't waster your time.
Quite a cynic perspective in this film. The dilemma lies within the differences in perspective on how to treat people. Iran on one hand want to surpress democracy, female rights, freedom of speech and freedom of religion (secularism in my case). USA on the other hand, in their freedom of religion, have a strong right-wing of bible lunies.
The only solution for world peace: Ban every aspect of organized religion world-wide, trust facts and reason, not imaginary friends.
@desiman1 For the love of God do you even mind reading the comment of mine you started replying to? Is your reading comprehension score as low as high is your arrogance? One really hates to get people into sacks, but do all believers in Atheism have to make such little sense?
so what about clinton administrations policy toward iraq being identical as Bush's???? why do liberals have a short memory span?
@qwezzie wow, you can tell your a jew.
