Everybody has played Duck Hunt for NES. I have discovered that the game errors in a very wacky and unpredictable way after you beat level 99. A must-watch for any Nintendo fan.
Duck Hunt Dog - The first video game character to break the 4th, literally pointing and laughing at the player. I remember the first time I played this game. When I lost I looked at my friend and said "can I shoot the dog"? He looked at me, sighed, then said "unfortunately no. We all hate that damn dog". The next guy played and broke the TV.
Yes -- but ONLY on the bonus rounds. If you do that, the round will end and the dog comes out on crutches with a blackened face and says the following: "OUCH!! SHOOT THE DUCKS, NOT ME!!" :^)
This is common for a lot of old games. It's called a "Kill Screen" and it happens when the game's difficulty counter basically laps itself. For Pac-Man it's level 256, for the original version of Tetris it was level 29, etc. Donkey Kong eventually sets the timer to about four seconds, making it impossible to complete the level.
the level counter has two nummerals which display up to 10 characters (in this case the 0-9 number) and adding one number to the 99, the counter overflows and tries to find a way to display more characters, but it ends up rolling over to 0 which is literally nothing. the game difficulty is set depending on the number size, but since the level counter shows NOTHING at all, the game randomizes the difficulty to heaven messing with all the gameplay setting ducks to fly fast then not showing ducks. shigeru miyamoto thought no one would be able to achieve level 99 :B
I guess that's what happens with Tetris's level 30. At level 29, tiles start falling on every single frame, it's designed as a "killscreen", and no one was meant to go beyond there when the game was created.
In the original arcade Pac-Man, the root of the kill screen lies here: 1. The level number is initially loaded into memory. 2. The level number is incremented by one, up to level 8 3. A comparison is done to see if the current level number is 8 or less. 4. If not, a jump is done to check the current fruit in the fruit data table. That error can be fixed by moving the compare check and jump-to to before the incrementing, so that: 1. The level number is initially loaded into memory. 2. BUGFIX: A comparison is done to see if the current level number is 7 or less. 3. BUGFIX: If not, a jump is done to check the current fruit in the fruit data table. 4. BUGFIX: Otherwise increment level number by one, up to level 7. The values in the fruit data table check (for level 8 and up) will need to be one less after this correction: 1. Change compare value for level 19 from 13h to 12h. 2. Change max level value from 13h to 12h 3. Change subtraction value from 7 to 6.
That was just a CollegeHumor video. Kill screens were common with seemingly indefinite games like this back in the day. When you get to level 256 of Pac-Man, half the screen glitches and you can't clear the level, and the timer runs out fast enough on level 22 of Donkey Kong that you can't actually beat it.
I'm DYING to know what there move set is going to be in Super Smash Brothers! The only thing I can say for sure is that the dogs taunt will be the giggle!
Interesting side note, but Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros are perfect examples of how despite how the NES is considered a breakaway from the first generation, early NES games (up through 1986) were still very arcade/Atari-like, and Atari was actually their main competitor (Atari actually had some big releases in 1985 and 1986). These videos always make me miss the days of the arcade style videogame where you played for the high score, where level difficulty stopped at a certain point.
Super Mario Bros. was envisioned as the last game for the Famicom, the ultimate limit of its capabilities, and it was assumed that to go any further would require adding additional hardware using the expansion port -- the Famicom DIsk System being the first. But then Nintendo decided to allow mapper chips, making huge games possible.
When I was a little boy, my father was playing this game with me, and he gave me the weapon in what he called the "last duck" I felt useless for my whole life, because obviously I did not hit the last duck.
John Henry No just this one, I think it's more Cyber phobic. But the infinite lives aren't that bad, it more when the whole screen is like sh**, and your game's messed for sure.

Haha, ultimate nostalgia for me would be Doom, though it was made before I was born I think. Not sure of its date. Still, I think nostalgia is just the remembrance of time with friends or a part of your life. I have/had those with CoD, though probably not the way people think. Medal of Honor was fun, but I think my TOP nostalgic game would be Mario on the Gameboy, back before I had a console and they had those at banks where you could play for free.

Level 29 in the original NES version of Tetris is not a killscreen nowadays
Duck: "What are you trying to tell me? That I can dodge bullets?"
Duck 2: "No, I'm trying to tell you that when you're ready... you won't have to."
"I wanna kill dat there dawg!" What's that I hear?
Just remember:

The dog laughs at the beginning warning you of the unhittable ducks.
After losing Duck Hunt and watching that dog maniacally laughing in my face, I like to turn on SSB4 and Falcon Punch him in the face.

Nintendo apparently thought that no one would get to level 100.
0:19 sick beat
XD
Legends say that after 15 years the dog is still laughing at him
lol
na this wasn't a glitch, the creators never thought anyone would get to tis level so as a joke gave the duck crystal meth
I think the duck got shot so many times, that it started having a seizure.
That was just a CollegeHumor video. Kill screens were common with seemingly indefinite games like this back in the day. I get the reference

**laughs as the ducks spazz out of existence**
Duckhunt is a troll game you cant beat it
It's called a glitch
I agree
I think this glitch was done on purpose if they made the dog laugh at you before it happened.
sonicrules876542 Idiot, glitch's never are made on purpose
A fan of everything you're right, cause if a glitch is made on purpose it cant even be a glitch
I'm DYING to know what there move set is going to be in Super Smash Brothers! The only thing I can say for sure is that the dogs taunt will be the giggle!
