- Worth the points? The Maldives host the most incredible resorts in the world but the Stella Maris Ocean Villa at the Waldorf Astoria Maldives tops them all. This was a very special trip for me... and Jorge ;) So I wanted to go all out. From diving, to lux food, and endless ocean views the Waldorf does not disappoint. Jay Birong regarding pollution. The richest 10% stands for ruffly 50% of the carbon dioxide emissions. So if you are the type of person who can afford this type of vacation then you should probably look at your own contributions. Not saying that you are or that you pollute, just pointing out my opinion.

Just got back from Conrad Maldives on a rewards trip. Honestly it is incredible! Having gold or diamond status does help and we managed to upgrade to a 2 bedroom overwater villa for only 40% the cost of the difference between our standard room and the overwater villa. However be prepared for a hefty check out bill as food is expensive and trip costs will add up. Along with that 20 minute seaplane ride.... and every thing is ++

Finally got a chance to stay in it last week. It's Villa #801, BTW, not 2601. Opted for them to cook us a meal at the villa, came out to the most expensive meal of my life (given I don't have interest in Wine/Champagne)

2.2 million points per night... I put 60+ nights and ~$30k in expenses (restaurants, airfare, rental car, etc.) on my Aspire last year and did the SUBs for the Surpass and regular Hilton Honors card and I just cracked 1 million points, which I thought made me hot shit. Thanks for flexing and bringing me back down to earth.
Sadly the only thing I can relate to regarding your travels is how ubiquitous plastic waste has become in our oceans, from South Point to South Beach. Also congrats on your Player 2.

Stayed at the Conrad in Maldives. It was a million points but was well worth it.
We also stayed in Conrad Maldives for our honeymoon back to 8 years ago. We regretted of going there at the end. The weather was extremely hot and the food was not impressive at all. The overwater villa that we stayed at was just so so. I dont remember exactly how much we spend on the room, probably over 1000 dollars per night, it was not worth the money and the time.

Yo people don't worry, that's not a random bottle floating at 1:13. Those are weighted to the sea bed and act as a marker or buoy. They are used for general things that help navigate the area, like warnings or even direction of the current. So no worries, not pollution!

Wow, that's an insane villa! I wish I hadn't abandoned Hilton for SPG prior to the Mariott Merger. Would St. Regis be the best one in the Marriott portfolio?
John Jacob Astor Estate at St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort is certainly one of the best here. It's a 3 bedroom villa though, perfect for the family and friends to holiday together.

It's beautiful, but I have heard since Maldives is a Islamic country it's tricky for gay couples. I guess Resorts are off the mainland and all of them are international brands so it doesn't matter, but curious how did you guys make sure that it's not going to be a problem?

But to your point I agree blending in and not doing things that local population is not use to seeing is the best thing to do when traveling, but then it also sucks because I have to make a conscious decision to not hold my partner's hand in public or hug or kiss him which comes so naturally to me... I wouldn't want to compromise on that even if it means to avoid such beautiful places...
bitsnpieces I know what you mean and I totally agree with you. Unfortunately there ain’t many safe places on earth for us. I’m not the type holding anybody’s hand in public but I would like to see anybody who wants to being able to do so freely. Even at liberal states, most people say they accept our way of life not because they really do but because it’s the politically right thing to say. Therefore I have learned not to push too far showing how different I am. I’m appreciate people being accepting even for the purpose of being politically right. But I’m still consciously aware that it’s a jarring sight to show my differences. so that’s why I have learn to keep it to myself when I don’t have to show, even in the most liberal state. I’m sure you understand where I come from on the matter. If you ever visit Massachusetts, Provincetown is the place where being us is the normal, where men holding each other’s hands is celebrated.
