Can someone explain what is happening? Why they leaving? Why some who are behind the front guy still leave? Some passed the line but we're behind and could have stayed back but still pedal3d to the front??? I don't get it
The closer you are to the line, the easier it is to get out front. This is especially true if you're higher up the wall. The riders have to track stand for an unknown amount of time without crossing the line, putting a foot down, or holding the rail. Once the gun goes off, it's a one lap race between whoever is left.
It's a fun event, basically a break between actually serious shit. Any cyclist in any of the other competitions can join (there's no official start list).
This needs to be an Olympic sport.

It's extremely physically demanding to stand still on a bike... Hence the challenge
