the way it starts with them just casually announcing slopes and then unloading a huge amount of new things onto us with that absolutely amazing music is just so mesmerizing to me.
I've always liked how the music in this trailer gets overrun by the 3D world theme, as if it's either an infection or it just has a massive ego

Man seeing this trailer 2 years ago was one of the happiest moments of my life! Thank you Nintendo for making this game and I hope you make a Mario maker 3 in the future, because there's so many great ideas that can still be done.

This has got to be the most memorable Nintendo trailer ever. The way they just throw stuff at you so fast that you can't even process it. One second they're revealing 3D World, the next you're seeing vertical sub-areas and autoscroll, colored pipes, red Yoshi, night themes and then it all ends without giving any explanation at all until the SMM2 Direct in May.

@@Trimint123 iirc it was originally going to be a tool for the actual dev team to make levels with. They realized how nice and easy it was and made it a game for the public. This looks more complete than a "here's something to give to devs to get them going."
This is how I feel for any Switch game that is similar to its Wii U counterpart. Heck the Wii U console in general is like a prototype Switch.

Ok, so although I’m not the biggest fan of this game now, my god I have so much nostalgia for this trailer and the build up to release. I was only 12 years old at the time, and I was watching the Nintendo Direct that this got announced in, and my god that was the first time I ever cried because of a game announcement. I was so happy, I loved Mario Maker on Wii U! I didn’t even have a switch yet at the time, but I knew damn well that I’d make sure me and a friend would go to the midnight release of Mario Maker 2 in NYC, and somehow we convinced our parents to bring us as an early bday present for my friend. It was so fun, and again while I didn’t have a switch yet, I think I was just more hyped about being part of it than anything lol. That was also the day I played Animal Crossing for the first time because I picked up New Leaf so that was a really important day to me :)
I love how slopes was the first new thing they showed for Super Mario Maker 2.
Now fans can stop complaining! YAY!

Pause for each scene, there’s so much new stuff to see. Different colored pipes and yoshis, angry sun, new themes, water, lava, poison, boom boom, banzai bill, many moving obstacles, piranhas, offscreen bullet bills, A SPACE THEME, and a two player icon.
Not to mention, in the eShop artwork for the game, you see toad and toadette, which proves that there will most likely be 4 players. Also, a koopa with only a shirt driving a Jeep on the bottom right.

I think the Switch is just dancing on the Wii U’s grave at this point
Why wouldn't they? Smash Ultimate outsold Smash 4, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe outsold Mario Kart 8, etc. The Wii U did not sell well, and there were many, myself included, who missed an entire console generation of first party games. The switch, meanwhile, has sold well, and Nintendo had many opportunities to get their money's worth from games that a lot of people never got to play.

There won't be any playable co-op, but likely there will be collaboration allowed when making levels. Like being able to share levels that are still in progress.

Actually literally everything being showcased is new. Vertical scrolling. Switch blocks that make blocks appear and disappear. Clear pipes you can visually make Mario travel through. Pretty much everything is an add on.
