Sure
Funnily enough, I always described it as Charlie's Angels if the Angels were total bitches. LOL
it was targeted to females? Oh..
One really cool thing about this show is that it gave different outfits for the characters each episode, something rarely done, especially at the time.

Are you kidding? Who do you think FUNDS the darn thing?
One of the reason for the "anime/manga " style of the TV show, is that it was french-canadian made, and anime had been popular in france since at least the 80's. So a lot of french authors, producers and cartoonist drew influence from the manga genre. Another exemple of that would be Wakfu or oban star racer
Oban Star Racer was made in close collaboration with the japanese animation studio though.
Another good example would be Princess Sissi about Empress Elisabeth of Austria.
@@icedshadow5789 I do.
well i learned something new today
i didnt know the FRENCH liked anime
There's also shows like Code Lyoko which was pretty much a pioneer in 3d animation.
totally spies was the first of those, in 2001. i remember french having an impactful history of making its own animation and cartoon characters in the eu. a lot of comic stuff was from france in finnish library as a kid. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_French_animated_television_series en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_French_animation even back from 70s sometimes faintly on certain animations you can see the influence from japan. they did sometimes co-productions with japan even back then.
I used to think "Totally Spies" was a dubbed anime, until I learned years later it was a show originally from France, not Japan.
I didn't even know this until now! Incredible! 😀
It's enough of a thing to have a folder covering the phenomenon on tvtropes: tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Animesque

That actually explains a lot! Like discovering Winx is from Italy. Like... Look at the lip-sync
It's from Canada...
"Totally Spies. It's not for me."
Only if you're immune to multiple fetishes at once.
AND the rule34, thet show has more content than the entire archives of the jedi temple.
Lol so true
@AT Productions >the animators just did all of the for shits and giggles.
It is French Canadian (i think thats the term) and i faintly recall seeing weird shit in Belgian/French Comics like Lucky Luke and Tintin... sooo i wouldnt be surprised.

Given the show's reputation, I'm surprised the phrase "Fet-ish Mo-vie" was never uttered
Surprisingly, not that much of that in this movie. To the movie's/show's defense, you don't pick up on stuff like that as a kid, only MUCH later into teenagehood. I know because me as my watched this show A LOT for many years and many many reruns ever since we were children. And heck, maybe it wasn't even the show's creators intention (though probably unlikely) to give it that fetish vibe, but when you constantly have to come up with dozens upon dozens of unique parodies to James Bond like capture devices, while also giving them a Beverly Hills spin to it, eventually that's just gonna look like.
@@floricel_112 Oh I know. I grew up on the show. Don't regret it. I didn't realize how much weird fetish stuff was in it until I was older.

I never got into this show, but I did get into it's sister show: Martin Mystery. Now that show was so much fun, utilizing fun characters, anime style animation (like this show), and some fun and creative monster designs. It was such a fun show from what I remember.
What about the sequel series the amazing spies?
I literally just commented the exact same thing 😂. It's a great show that I rewatch every once and a while. Oddly enough they actually exist in the same universe in cannon. Aka they have a cross over and both creators said that was cannon not like a one off
I still remember the episode about the Siren and the Squid Sandwich cause that was one that kept showing up.
I loved that show, still holds up pretty well when I rewatched it last year.
Religiously watched that show. I always saw it as a stepping stone from Scooby Doo to the X-Files
I was expecting Malcolm and Tamara to be the ones trapped in the wardrobe
Poor Buster
My cats have been trapped in worst but luckily they came out alive. It's first Nostalgia Critic review appearance, though

Fun fact: in the french dubbing, the villain is voiced by Karl Lagarfeld.
It can't be a dub when the film comes from that place it'd be like saying the swedish Moomins dub or the japanese One Piece dub
Everyone in the comment section is busy talking about the review, meanwhile, I'm over here trying to figure out what Buster was purring about that ended up with him getting locked in the closet. Poor kitty Lolz
Me too!
Out of all things things I didn't expect in the Totally Spies movie, Walk Like an Egyptian being played definitely took the cake.
Jotaro: NANI!?
Between this and her "Cloverpatra" identity, methinks Clover has a thing for Egypt
I smell JOJO
19:42 damn I didn’t know Chris P. Bacon was making a cameo.
3:50 GTA 5 character switch about 4 years before it was a thing
Soooo this is what Alfred does when Bruce is out BatManing up Gothem.
Well, alfred was a part of MI6 so that does make sense.
The true Totally Spies were the friends we made along the way.
And the true Batman was the successful payments of our water bills afterwards

I just realized that kind of sounds like they brainwashed me so....

I'll admit, best quote in this review
I love how Rob says "you don't know everything about me". Something about it I find hilarious
This movie was so silly!
And you missed a "But what about Oinky?"
Joke!
Also, Convoy of hope is awesome!
I used to work with them!
Still, "blow up the earth"?

Is anyone else gonna mention the crossover with Martin Mystery?
