Wash-N-Go on Coily Natural Hair

  • In this tutorial, I show you how I restore my friend Alisha's curls after a long-term protective style and how I set her hair in a wash-n-go. I also demonstrate how I "test" products to see how they may react when applied to the hair.
    Featured products:
Phillip Kingsley Elasticizer is an intensive pre-poo treatment for all hair types. It adds elasticity, bounce, shine, makes hair more manageable and helps restore curls. What I loved most is you could literally feel the hair was smoother during and after rinsing.
If you would like to try a more budget friendly elasticizing option, ApHogee's Curlific Texture Treatment is available at Sally Beauty for around $9.
Hydratherma Naturals Herbal Gloss Heat Protector is an alcohol free spray infused with lots of natural oils and extracts that help keep the hair moisturized. This glosser acts as a heat protectant and is suitable for wet or dry hair of any texture...it also has an amazingly, sweet smell!
    Other products and tools used:
Trader Joe's Refresh Citrus Shampoo and Conditioner
    Mixed Chicks Leave-In Conditioner
    Agadir Argan Oil Volumizing Gel
    Ion Anti-Frizz Blow Dryer
    Total Time:
Total style time with trim, treatment, and setting was 2.5 hours.
    Keep and Care:
This style can be maintained by sleeping in the pineapple.

    Wow!
I agree that Mo really knows a lot about hair!
From ur videos I have learned to LOVE & appreciate the softness of my natural very tangly-curly, 3c/4a hair; & I would never, relax it ever again!
    Who needs straight hair?
    Curls are beautiful!

I'm here today because I wanted to watch a few wash'n'gos videos on different textures... I have to say @MoknowsHair since following you and adapting your advice to my hair care, I was doing things so wrong in the beginning. Thanks for posting!

I know Alisha takes her hair into a pineapple now that it's longer....when it was shorter, she would take two sections (vertical halves) and sort of loosely roll-twist them up to the top and secure with a bob pin or two, then tie the scarf around the edges. In the morning, shake it out, if you need some "help" getting it in place, take some water and oil in a misting spray bottle and wet the root hair a bit (ends if needed) and adjust the hair back into place. Diffuse if desired/needed.

      @TeeCG Před 9 lety +1

Alexis Moore I have mostly 3c hair and I am completely natural now. You won't truly be able to know your hair type (or types; many of us including myself have multiple types on our heads) and how your hair behaves until you cut off all your permed ends. As soon as you get your hair to a length that you can stand, I recommend getting rid of the permed hair so you can truly get to know your natural hair and how it behaves. I don't know if you've ever worn your hair shorter but you might love your natural hair at a shorter length. My hair is passed by shoulders now but I remember when my hair was short...the little curls were so cute! It's nice to play around with your natural hair at different lengths; you'll probably find (as I did) that your hair behaves differently at different stages of length. Good luck on your natural hair journey.
