I take that as Watto true fate, then some fan service picture with no dialog of Vader killing Watto in Aphra comic. Watto was bought out and going senile and no longer worth Anakin/ Vader's time to kill. All he would be doing is putting a forgetful near mindless animal out of its misery. Then in the Jedi Academy books where Leia travels to the world of Vjun and visits Bast castle, meeting a darkside shade of Vader bonded to the castle's darkside locus nexus.
