    I can so relate to the shift that occurs once finishing uni and then working in a full time job. I thought I was the only one who felt depressed during a transition like this - thank you for opening up about this. I'm glad you're feeling ok 💗

    I’ve just finished my first year at Surrey and I’m already feeling the stress of graduate jobs🤯 Thank you for being so open in this video Ela! I suffer from really bad panic attacks & social anxiety which I struggled with a lot during that first year and I feel like this lockdown has really helped me ground myself again!🌿

      congratulations on finishing first year Kate!! can't imagine how odd it must have been doing online lectures/exams especially with everything that's going on! I'm so sorry you have to go through that, it really is the worst and going into first year/new environment/new people must have been even more of a trigger 😭(I was the same in first year!) glad lockdown has helped you too 🌞

    I did my placement year this year in London, working as a data analyst. I felt the exact same way that you described. I thought I was the only one, I missed uni life so much and working from 9 to 5 every day was so hard. Now that I'm almost at the end of my placement, I think after I graduate I might go through the same thing but at least I will know how to deal with it. and thanks to you, I now know it's not only me and this is kind of a normal transition thing! Thank you for making this video :D

    Your video is something I can really relate to, despite being at another university and course. The depression and anxiety you mention is something that I struggled with painfully this past year, and it is encouraging to hear that you sought for help professionally. I too have felt that lockdown has been for my mental health, a reflecting and refreshing time, allowing me to slow down the pace of day to day stressors. I pray you all the best with your mental health and wish you and your family all the happiness! Lots of love xx

    So happy you posted.I'v been watching your videos for a long time Ela, you are really inspiring. I'am especially happy to see that you opened up about your mental health as well. I come from a South Asian community were there is still a lot of stigma around addressing mental health problems, seeing you address your mental health can really help people see that it is okay to open up and get help when you struggle, rather than keeping it hidden in the fear of being judged. Take care of your self may god bless you :)

    Thank you so much for speaking out about this! I had something similar happen - absolutely loved uni and then went on to start a grad scheme in September and went from being really happy at uni to being so low and depressed all of a sudden. The magical bubble of uni had truly burst! It took me until February time to start feeling better (after seeking help) and still some days are good, some days are bad. So don’t worry you’re definitely not alone! All the best with the CBT x

    OMG ELA! I am so happy you done a catch up video 🙏 I totally understand what you are going through, I finish uni in the same year, but I was so stressed with my exams, that I didn’t had time to apply for graduates schemes 🎓 it took me like 8 month to get a good graduate role but I was able to be more picky, as some small firms underpay you a lot, so I wanted to work for a bigger firm. But my company has a policy of not accepting exemptions 😫 so I am starting from 0 😥 sad times. But you are totally right! I just don’t feel broke ha ha is lovely that you are transparent and thank you for opening up

    Hey Ela, it’s so refreshing to hear people talk so honestly about their experiences, you truly are an amazing youtuber!!! Just wondering how much do you think your placement year impacted you getting your graduate job, because I’m unsure whether or not to do a placement year. Thank you so much and stay safe!

    • @Streetorvintage
      @Streetorvintage  Před 4 lety +7

      thank you so much!! Placement year definitely helped me get a grad job as it gave me more skills/real world experience/things to talk about when it came to interviews, however I wouldn't say it's 100% needed to get a grad job. As long as you have some sort of experience (summer internships, work experience, etc), you can definitely still get the grad job :) I guess if you want to take one year out of uni to get real world experience and earn some money, placement is great! However if you would rather not have a break from studying/ want to finish off final year rather than prolong it, it's better doing a summer internship rather than a whole placement year! do whichever is best for you/your happiness ❤️

    I think what does it for me is the lack of jobs out there and the competition your up against. I finish my masters in September and getting this stressed feeling on what job to get and the competition out there. There is this training course i want to get into but sadly today i saw an email saying i was unsuccessful. Because of covid19 they had to change the interview process and gave the people who were ranked the highest the job vacancies without an interview. I am also going through heartbreak and now added stress of jobs. Feels really daunting starting job searching. I want to start working, earning money and save just about all of it to save for a cheap flat.

    Ela please know that "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16. Tomorrow is not promised so repent and come to the Lord Jesus only he can save you from your sins :) He will also give you everlasting joy and the promise of eternal life. Jesus loves you, He died for you and rose again!
