A very to scale Pikmin video (Pikmin Size Comparison)

‘Forest of Hope’ Full Remix: • Pikmin - The Forest of...
and ‘Today’s Results’ Full Remix: • Pikmin - Today's Resul...
Remixes by @BlueBrewMusic, they have loads of great remixes including more Pikmin ones so check them out!!
I’m not sure if any of these are canon, but these are the literal sizes of things in-game when compared to Olimar, who without his suit is 1.9cm / 0.75 inch, which I learned from reading the manual.
Any real-world stuff in the video is based on its real-world size to make the size of the Pikmin stuff more relatable.
Usually 'length' includes everything (nose to tail), which is why some enemies seem smaller than what it says. Bearded Amprat for example has a pretty long tail you can't really see in the video.
Yay, Fun Stuff…
Most of the real-world things can be found in Pikmin 2, 3, Hey Pikmin, and 4.
The cans use the texture for Pikmin 2’s ‘Utter Scrap’ treasure (which is a crushed can).
The pink trainers are based on the 'Repugnant Appendage' (pink baby shoe) from Pikmin 2, except the wearer is all grown up now. For reference they are woman’s size 8 US / euro 38-39 / UK 6, the average size for women’s shoes apparently.
The room is based on the room in the opening cinematic of Smash Bros 64.

More details for the serious fans…
Mushroom Pikmin are actually 2.7cm (1.2in), I wanted to keep consistency though which is why I gave all Pikmin a 'leaf height' in the video.
Character heights without suits:
Alph - 1.6cm / 0.64 inch (according to wiki)
Britanny - 1.7cm / 0.7 inch (compared to Alph, assuming their suits are the same height)
Olimar - 1.9cm / 0,75 inch (Pikmin 1 manual)
Charlie - 1.9 cm / 0.77 inch (according to wiki)
President - 2.1cm / 0.8 inch (comparing to Olimar in Pikmin 2)
Louie - 2.3cm / 0.89 inch (comparing to Olimar in Pikmin 2)
(I wasn't able to compare Alph and Charlie to Olimar so I went with their Pikmin Wiki sizes.)
I think the Doodlebug Fly is the smallest species (0.4cm height). There are flies in Pikmin 1 that I measured to be about 0.3cm (length), but as they're only dots it’s hard to compare them. The Doodlebug Fly is technically a smaller dot (0.2 cm) but with wings and limbs. Let me know if there is an even smaller creature I forgot about though...
Most of these (particularly for Pikmin 1 + 2) came from capturing 3D models during gameplay, which included everything that was on-screen at the time, including Olimar. Then the entire model was resized so the Olimar was the correct 1.9cm, and the other stuff was then measured.
The heights for the spider-like enemies is from the floor, to the highest point... so the 'knees'?

#pikmin #pikmin4 - Hry
in case anyone wants to know how they compare to modern insects, the largest known species of ant , the Giant Amazonian Ant, has a length of between 1.2 to 1.6 inches, or as long as a shearwig to as long as the height of Louie.
the asian giant hornet, the largest species of wasp, is 1.75 inches long, about the size of the swooping snitchbug
the largest insect in the world is the titan beetle, at 6.5 inches long, a bit smaller than the dolphin.
the lengthwise largest spider is the Goliath Birdeater, at 5.1 inches, smaller than the armored cannon larva
the largest species of spider by legspan is the Giant Huntsman, with a legspan of 1 foot, an inch and a less than a baldy longlegs is tall.
so, long story short, no modern bug would count as a bossfight by pikmin standards, though they could make some neat enemies if they were in the pikmin style
This is a very pin-worthy comment! Thank you!
What about the Hercules beetle,or amazonian giant centipede?,or prahaps a coconut crab?
@@AG-tl8oq a male Hercules Beetle is 7 inches long, a bit longer than the Scornet Maestro is tall.
the coconut crab is 40 inches wide from leg tip to leg tip, 7 inches wider than the Mireclops. it reaches a body length of 16 inches, one inch more than the width of the raging long legs.
so, a Hercules Beetle would probably be a dangerous enemy, while a coconut crab would be a boss
edits: added additional size information, and a closing statement on their placements as enemies
@@AG-tl8oq I looked it up, the Giant Amazonian Centipede is 11 to 11.8 inches long, so ranging from a Bugeyed Crawmad to an Emperor Bulblax in length, though it's considerably thinner than either, at only .8 to 1 inch wide.
so, it would probably be a miniboss.
@@noahjacoby-twigg6488 fun facts about coconut crabs and why they are terrifying
They can grow to be 1 meter in size
They can lift up to around 60 pounds
They can climb
They can crush coconuts
They kill birds and kittens
They like blood,so if you start bleeding, rip for you because the other coconut crabs in the area will gather around and strip the flesh from you
And they have the strongest pinch strength of any "crab"
Okay, I find the fact that the Olimar Amiibo is actually larger than life size to be hilarious
It's basically a monument to him at that point. The Pikmin of Liberty
How? It’s been stater that Olimar is the size of a quarter and amiibo are obviously a lot bigger than quarters.
Imagine if amiibo were added as one of the treasures we can find in pikmin 4

Seeing the Quaggled Mireclops next to a leader and a singular pikmin without the camera angle of 3 is genuinely terrifying and I love it.
Wow, they're so small I didn't even notice them
Even more when you see the Nintendo switch next to it and imagine holding a switch, and then replace the switch with that thing in front of you. Of course, we're still way bigger and could easily crush any enemy ourselves

Mortified at the concept of Empress Bulbax being the size of a football, imagine seeing that for real
Go long!
Just an oversized termite queen.
Depends on the context really. We would find it startling because in our world, they're just a video game character.
But if bulborbs were part of our natural ecosystem like birds, rats or other similar sized animals, we wouldn't pay them much attention outside of keeping them out of our homes.
It's the same argument as seeing a Pokemon in real life - it would be weird in our non-Pokemon world but in their world Pokemon are as normal as cats and dogs to us.

“This bitch ugly, YEET!”
Honestly, every enemy, including Mireclops, would die just by stepping on them.
But the thought of yeeting Bug-eyed Crawmad like a football is VERY amusing.
I wouldnt even attempt touching the titan dweevil, with or without its weapons
I would do unspeakable things to the wraiths.
I honestly think that some of the bosses will still pose a threat I mean just look at scorpions and hornets they may be small compared to us but boy they can cause some damage to our bodies. I would throw emperor bulbax like a football though what are they gonna do? Roll on me?
It's still crazy to me that such tiny beings are capable of space travel. Then again, we're ants compared to the dinosaurs that ruled the Earth before us.
Not really. They weren't hundreds of times as big amd 99% were average or small.
Not even slightly, dinosaurs were as diverse in size as modern mammals. An archaeopteryx would definitely not see us as ants
Dinosaurs may be big but still considerably not large enough so that they've could've seen us as mere ants
Im pretty sure a human compared to the largest of dinosaurs would be like comparing a human to a small rodent, rather than an ant. The size difference isnt that extreme lol
It may be easier for them to achieve liftoff due to their light weight. Depends on the gravity and exact atmospheric content of their home planet, but considering they seem to have mastered a large swath of purposed tech, they may have had an easier time achieving flight than, say, radio waves.
Don't you hate it when most of the pikmin enemies along with some pikmin appear in your home?
Pikmin 4 be like
It’s OK, they’re just gearing up for some Smash Bros 64.
Happens all the time! A few days ago I found a spider on a wall and when I tried to send it away, it pulled out a machine gun and aimed with a laser at my face!
Happened to me yesterday! I saw what looked like Fiddlebert and he started saying slurs in Lithuanian! Although it was very quiet.... I had to record it so I could listen to the bits I couldn't hear but when I looked at my recording it was as if he wasn't here
eh maybe I'll see Louie, just not stealing I hope
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to get rid of them.
The way this makes Raging Long Legs wayyyyyy scarier. If I saw a spider the size of a soccer ball in my house I would move states
Waterwraith in the game: a terrifying titan that can easily flatten your entire squad
Waterwraith in real life: probably couldn't even break your pinky toe
Holy crap, the fact that most of the adult bulborb species is around the size of a standard gundam model is kinda scary
People sweating over the idea of the long legs and the Mireclops stomping around in their home, while the Titan Dweevil be soaking your carpet in water, zapping your pets, setting fire to your plants, and spraying toxic gas at you.
With how massive the Quaggled Mireclops appears in game, it’s strange to think that it’s basically the size of a dog.
Imagine going for a walk in the park then suddenly the chunk of ground you’re standing on sprouts legs, pulls itself out of the ground and now you’re riding a mud pie with feet.
"avast my noble steed?"
So if the Emporer Bulblax was real, it could reasonably invade your home, eat your entire amiibo collection over several days, then leave.
It's clearly not above such things 1:46
I mean one eats Olimars piggy bank, so it isn't all that surprising.
Although having to dig through a Bulblax"s insides to retrieve said amiibo collection would be disgusting.
But then as we see seconds later, it's not much bigger than a soccer ball, so you could just as easily punt it out the window if things came to that, lol
I can already imagine myself yelling "no! My amiibo!" And then killing it
@@squiddler7731you can play football with an empress bulblax

i love this video thank you so much for making this. definitely the best pikmin-things-to-scale video i've seen, i think. especially the inclusion of lots of household objects for scale. this video reminds me of the similar ones made for the monster hunter games, and i mean that in the best possible way. only this time, we're looking at very very small things!
but, also. there's just something about seeing the meteor that impacted the S.S. Dolphin to scale next to a game boy cartridge. it's so.... small, isn't it? i want to say that logically, i should feel empowered by the thought that i could personally pick it up and toss it around like a toy, but for some reason it's kind of humbling. just a small rock i can fit in the palm of my hand was capable of causing a spaceship to crash. almost caused a life to end.
where was i? right! right! the creatures! i was a little disappointed not to see any snavians, as those were always my favorites as a kid. i used to daydream about having a terrarium not unlike you'd have for a burrowing reptile for one, and i used to imagine feeding it little pellets or vegetable scraps like the carrots in the piklopedia. but now that i think about it, their models might be a pain to straighten out to measure, so i get why they might not have been included. still, it's a lovely video. i'll have to settle for imagining a mireclops burying itself in someone's muddy garden after a rain.
Wow thank you, glad you liked it :) I didn't forget about the Snavians but thought the Burrowing Snagret was an inconsistent size in the games (mainly in 3) and I thought you can't have Pileated Snagret and not Burrowing Snagret haha!
Hehe, this is great. All of these guy's are super cool looking, awesome video man. 😁👌
Thank you 😊
The most threatening enemies in this series could just be kicked like a football, that being said those daddy long legs enemies are uncomfortably big.
