      Thanks so much for letting me know. I'm glad I made this video - I haven't updated my AE-30 to v3 yet so I'm going to have to watch it to remind myself what to do!

    Thanks mate. Extremely helpful. Everything works the same for the AE-20 - just making sure to pick the AE-20 System Program within AEROPHONE AE-20 - UPDATES & DRIVERS. 👍😀

    Nicely done, Mick. Is it just me, or do others have difficulties pressing the 2Oct-Up and 2Oct-Down while simultaneously powering up the AE30? I swear Roland wants us to be contortionists too. :)

      Thanks! No, it's not just you! There are a number of aspects of the design that could have been done better.

    The thumb drive must be formatted figured to fat 32 by the way. I figured out how to update the firmware without a thumb drive. Instead, I used an external ssd drive formatted to fat32 and put the bin file on that instead. It worked great! If you try to format a non fat 32 formatted drive in the roland, it will say Drive not ready.

    Thanks for the video. Very helpful.
    Having said that, I hope Roland follows the footsteps of Kemper Amps. Their Profiler used to have a very similar process for updating the firmware, but over the years, they've made it super simple. You fire up the profiler and the computer application which checks if there is an update automatically. If there is, it asks if you want to do the update. If you say yes, it does it, while saving and restoring all parameters automatically. I don't see any reason Roland can't do this.

      Thanks for commenting and subscribing. Yes it would be nice if Roland simplified the process.

    Thanks for the very informative video. However I’m having trouble putting the download onto the USB stick and then transferring it onto the Sarah phone. I’ve got an Apple Mac. Could you give some advice please

    I have tried 3 different USB C flash drives, and the ae30 tells me the memory is not ready to initialize. Which flash drive do I get?

    • @unclemick-synths
      @unclemick-synths  Před měsícem

      What size is it? I believe it must be 128 GB or less and formatted FAT32. I use an old 2 GB USB with an adapter to USB C. The files are very small.

    Do you still own this and use it often?

    • @unclemick-synths
      @unclemick-synths  Před 2 lety

      I do indeed. One reason I bought it was because I wasn't playing my sax (too loud and when I did want to play it I was too out of practice). I'm still not playing my sax because the Aerophone is more fun! 😀
      I really like using it with the Neutron - programming the synth engine in the Aerophone is a pain.

    • @unclemick-synths

      Thanks for watching my video. My initial thought is that the error message means the update file can't be found. I have some questions... Is the USB drive fully inserted in the AE-30 USB socket? Did you format the USB drive in the AE-30? (If not, is the USB drive a higher capacity than the 16 GB maximum size the AE-30 accepts?) Is the update BIN file in the root (i.e. not in a folder) of the USB drive? Did you extract the update BIN file from the ZIP file?

    なぜ日本語版より英語版が早いのか。これを問うと、自分でやれなければ、5000円で引き受けてやると言われた。

      Why is the English version faster than the Japanese version? [Google translate] I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean.
