Lofoten Adventure: Hiking Festvagtind Peak near Henningsvaer I Norway

Festvågtinden peak rising next to the Henningsvær fishing village, is one of the most popular hiking trails in Lofoten, Norway.
Although it seems like a very steep hike, the trail wraps around the backside of the mountain, providing a gradual ascent the entire way up. From the summit there are breathtaking views to the south over the town of Henningsvær and the surrounding islands. The distance for the return hike is around 3 km and we tool around 3 hours to complete the trail. The highest accent is 541m.
The hike starts from a parking lot near Festvag along route 816. The trail starts immediately by the side of the road, and it is rather steep right from the beginning. The trail climbed up the mountain side until you reach the ridge and Lake Heiavatnet. From here the view opens up, and we could see the Festvagtind peak and also the magnificent views of the Henningsvær Islands.
The last section before the summit is quite steep and required some amount of climbing. Reaching the summit, you will have fantastic views over Henningsvær, as the village spreads out across the small, rocky islands. If the weather is clear, we could also enjoy the views towards Stamsund on your right, and across the Vestfjord to the Norwegian mainland.
Conquering the Festvågtinden is a true highlight of any trip to Lofoten. The steep rocky path, the breathtaking view from the summit, and the joy of reaching the top combine to create a memorable experience. I would recommend to hike this trail during the midnight sun period and the view would be truly out of this world. It's easy to see why this hike ranks among the most popular and most captivating in the Lofoten Islands.

The trail looks very steep and challenging, how long does it take to reach the sunmit?

around 1.5 or 2 hours. we were tired from previous hike so took longer time
