  • I am from the UK and was lucky to be able to visit Japan last year end of November 2018 for 16 days. This was pre covid-19
    The people are so polite and so helpful.
    They are so kind and generous and everywhere is so clean!

    In India, there is a moment where you have to be physically and mentally prepared before boarding the train. Adrenaline rushes and heart beats so fast as if you are participating in a national sport competition. Same goes when one gets off the train.

      Here in the Philippines... It takes the train 30 mins. to 1hr. to arrive... I'm not even exaggerating, it really takes that long for the train to arrive, now imagine how many people are waiting before the train arrives... Truly a nightmare...

    I can attest to the kindness of Japanese people! I was there a year ago visiting my beautiful military family and the two weeks I was there was nothing but politeness and respect. We went to a number of public places and they were all kind. It was somewhat of a culture shock for me. I loved it!!!!!!

      They place signs on platforms indicating the exact spot where train doors will be once a train arrives. That helps a lot in organizing queues, otherwise people would probably be scattered all over the platform.

      運転士さんは文字通り電車を運転する人だから1番前に乗ってて、ふだん乗客が姿を見掛けることは少ないね
      ちなみに必要な資格もそれぞれ違ってて、お給料は運転士さんの方が高いよ

      the Japanese are patient, just not caring. It's because Japan puts a lot of social pressure on people to act really respectful. It looks great from the outside, but a lot of Japanese people are very unhappy about these social pressures which is why mental illness and suicide is such a big problem in Japan. This is a bit of an oversimplification, though so don't take what I just said at face value.

And if you’re a tourist who is visiting Japan it is crucial to do the same thing! Honestly, I miss going to Japan because of the trains themselves!     If people were like this in the U.S. there would be minimum train delays & the train experience would not be as disappointing.
