- As a new crawler I ordered the Wilderness Beluga from HB Toys.
For me the Beluga is great and cheap crawler with lots of potential. I got the Beluga for 262.70 EUR here.
In this video I share my thoughts in comparison to the the TRX4. In some of your comments you had some questions about it or defended the Traxxas.
This is just my opinion, yours might be another. I like both cars and tried not to go too deep into it.

Well Traxxas is getting their money on every little item. EVEN the mounts you need for what you purchase. When it comes to differences? I bet it is Negligible when it comes down to it. I have always found all Platforms are pretty decent. It comes to what you want, after you buy them. For example: Extra weight or Larger tires or Different tires or different motors/ esc's etc.... So for me the big difference between buying a Traxxas or an Axial or one of the Main brands. I do find them more expensive. BUT I do find the materials used for the rigs are what make the difference for me. A little more robust I have found. Specially if you compare to something like WPL rigs. Now this beluga rig definitely seems to be well above this level and I have found that they seem to run pretty good. So I know why you like your Beluga so much. :)
Thanks a lot Nick. You're right somehow HB found the right balance between worth and costs. This might change some day if they'll get more popular. Beside this silly name I wouldn't buy the Reely and invest 200 more for a big one.
I still have the chance to do more to the Beluga. The first goal was to stay in the price range of the TRX or SCX and see what upgrades can be done then. Think I found good compromises. Now the world's open and I can do more to this car.

Good comparison, especially for half the price, it leaves you with allot of extra money to make it exactly how you want it, I have trx4 & trx6 and they are expensive but they are well made with quality parts, but i am not a fan of Axial
To me they are not in the same category or quality, i prefer FMS over Axial because you can upgrade them with the money you have left over🙏✝️☮️ good job buddy
Thanks a lot for your great comment Lou. I'm complete with you. The TRXs're great cars. And for Axial I had to say it was their luck they're first with the micros. Would I had startet a few month later wirh that, I would have Ms here.
Althought HB Toys cheap, they do a great quality. Maybe the Beluga might break down earlier than the Traxxas, maybe not. For now it's fine. But the thing I had prooven is, there's a cheap alternative. Especial when you want to test crawling or are not sure your kit might like this hobby. You can do key upgrades and stay under the price of TRX.
For me it was clear, I wanted to crawl and upgrade, so the TRX4 was my first car. But for my grandkids the Beluga's more than enough. And as the one who paid the price you don't care about accidents with it😉.

Glad you mentioned RGT as the upgraded Beluga version. RGT has come a long way in competing with Traxxas. I think the market is closing in on Traxxas. Whereas Traxxas has almost stood pat. Nice comparison video!

It's a very good comparison. The advantage of the rc is that it is open to everyone, depending on what the person wants to put in price. Many rcs are very affordable but of course when you want to upgrade them the price rises quickly, but it will always remain less expensive than a big brand rc. Afterwards many do not want to buy sub brands, they are purists who only look at the big brands and that is good too, as I always say rc is made for everyone 😊
Thanks a lot Pascal. Luckily I'm into both worlds. The Beluga's fine, even out of the box, and cheap. Upgrades can be done. Maybe not so many as on the established crawlers, but why not adding a second (more expensive) crawler to the collection and do more upgrades. I also don't want to miss my TRX4😊

Did I hear that correctly Dirk? $2000 Euros?!?! Wow…crazy wow…but also super cool!! There’s a lot of tech and upgrades to make sure it’s a truly capable crawler. Great overview and comparison. Great work!
Not at once, but as soon as you get into it the money adds. I didn't do a lot to the Beluga and used cheap parts, but that also doubled the price. For scale details it's 10 here, 10 there. Performance things, I hadn't mentioned everything let the price climb very fast. Metal axles, shocks, rims and tires and 500're gone. Brass is even more expensive. But it still's hobby and it's fun to see the car improve.

I would most definitely go with the cheaper brand when it looks & runs as good (if not better) than the expensive brands.
Thanks we had tested it on a run with tge TRX4 and it worked great. I'm still in search for a place with rocks and stones to do a hardcrawl to convince even the biggest critical fan boys of the bigger brands😉
I've never heard of the Beluga until I saw it on your channel. Thanks for sharing all this great information, Dirk. It's always good to find less expensive RC alternatives that still offer great performance.
Thank ypu Fil. I'm glad if I could help. The Beluga is astonishing. Compared to some of the other cheapy Chinas I have here, it's on a high quality right out of the box. If this wasn't so, I would have finished the series after the first video. But now I'm driving the sow through the village. There'll to more running videos and a final review, the it's time for the next project.😉

Totally hearing that Durk my Trx4 cost me $979.00aud with all the mods it's easily worth double that now so traxxas are extremely attractive for the engineering and durability but unattractive for the price traxxas are not the only manufacturer producing quality models the competition can only gain a good reputation by delivering on performance looks to me like you have a winner there great looking truck 👊

I was curious and converted the price to Euro. It's around 600 EUR. Pretty close to our prices.
But you're completely right, like we say here other mothers've nice daughters, too. Quality might be a good point, but we're taliking about crawlers. As long the car doesn't fall apart and the drivetrain works, everythings fine. They're not bashing around. And from this point of view a cheap car's possible.
Okay I might not have all the options I can do to an expensive car, or a big pool of after-market parts, but the Beluga's now in a stage where it works very good.😊

Also ganz ehrlich gesagt sind die TRX 4 Crawler echt hammermäßig gut. Finde den Preis dafür allerdings nicht so berechtigt. Es ist ein alter Büchsenmotor drin , keine einstellbare Drag/Brake . Die Funke ist auch nicht so der Hit . Wenn ich den Beluga dagegen sehe , ohne Deine Upgrades ist das schon eher ein für den Preis sehr guter Crawler . Der Preis stimmt hier einfach für die verbauten Teile. Der Vorteil hier ist noch, das man den mit diversen Teilen upgraden kann ohne dafür Hersteller spezifische Komponenten kaufen zu müssen. Man ist quasi unabhängig. Ich tendiere, auch wenn die Traxxas Vehicles spitze aussehen, immer mehr zu den günstigen Varianten. Im Gelände kommt es nicht darauf an, welche Technik drin steckt, sondern wie gut man überhaupt fahren kann 😊. Also Herr Bronson. Geiler Beluga Bronco 👍Viele Grüße und weiterhin viel Spaß damit. Am Ende des Tages entscheidet Jeder für sich, was er möchte und wieviel er ausgeben will. Wie Du schon es so richtig sagst, man sieht viele Ugrades nicht. Und wenn der Crawler ohne diese nur 3 Grad weniger Steigung schafft, dann sucht man sich einen anderen Weg. Ist auch ein Teil des Spasses. Wichtig ist nur, daß das Auto in sich zusammenhält. Dann kann man auch für kleines Geld einkaufen. BTW und nicht sehen, Messingteile gehen gleich in die Hunderte, sind zwar hilfreich und geben gutes Gewicht, belasten aber auch den Antriebsstrang.
Der Beluga ist super, wenn man mal reinschnuppern möchte und tut's auch gut im Originalzustand. Den Motor würde ich wechseln, der Fusion SE macht einfach nur süchtig. Alles weitere kann Jeder selbst entscheiden.
Sollte Crawlen nicht so ankommen, wirst Du für einen TRX oder SCX bei Ebay nur einen Bruchteil des Preises wieder bekommen, auch wenn der nict viel gelsufen sein sollte. Dür den Beluga wird es im Verhältnis mehr geben.

@@RCBirds Da hast Du vollkommen recht. Wenn man nicht unbedingt für die Fusion SE Comb investieren möchte, dann kann auch der WP 80 ausreichen. Habe ich zb in den Freemen 2.0 verpflanzt. Der Regler lässt den fasst wie mit der SE Combo fahren. So muss jetzt gleich los .

Dirk you did some serious upgrades for both crawlers. They both are excellent vehicles, I like the color scheme on both. I didn't know the TRX4 is so expensive for you.
Thanks Al. The Traxxas adds very quick, especial with brass and ProLine on the chassis. It's only some money here some there and you don't pay it at once, but looking back can be scary. 😁

Thanks a lot James. For testing crawling and do some upgrades it's perfect. On ebay you won't get the money back, you invested on a 600 crawler. I could have choosen more expensive parts for the Beluga like on my TRX, but I wanted to keep the price down. But it also doubled the price of the kit. But if you like crawling nobody'll stop you to go crazy on a TRX, SCX or which ever you like😉
It looks and sounds like a great option especially since the prices of the Traxxas stuff is a lot more over there for you guys. It is still not cheap here but they seem to really upcharge you all over seas, which doesn't make any sense as all the kits come from areas closer to you than us! I am glad someone is offering a more budget friendly option.
Yupp Addam, South Korea, if I'm right informed. I think our laws and licenses for imports (e. g. CE-Logo) level the prices up. The other thing is that China wants to get into every market, so their prices're much lower. Not speaking about the quality and that this might change as soon they found their place. Best example are the Heng Long Tanks. I got my first in 2007 for 50 EUR, now they cost three to five times more. While the prices of RC electronics dropped.
Or take Injora. Five years ago many hated this cheap manfactor. Now they erned respect and're everywhere.
I'm curious if HB Toys'll establish itself and how their prices'll develop.

I love my Beluga, it has proven itself to be just as durable as my TRX4s and just as capable. I have also installed a TRX4 Front differential, gearbox internals, portal gears, full gearbox and diff covers to see how they fit and all fitted perfectly. The motor mount will fit a TRX4 gearbox with a small modification to the gearbox housing. The Beluga is, at the moment, my favorite truck and thats in a fleet of TRX4S, SCX10s, various FTXs and Element.

So true Antonio and in my mind a Sport or Bascamp aren't the right accesse to get beginners even near to crawling. Buy a cheap car (if it's durable), try it. And if you're fine with it, it's up to everyone to upgrade or buy an expensive car.
My Wife RGT is the best example a cheap RC €250 in Store in U.E. whit 3 years warranty and out of the box is a cool and fun rc crawler, whit some simple and free mods com start to be a very nice Crawler, and some Upgrades can trun in a fighter to way more expensives Out of the Box Axial and Traxxas!

Cost the Traxxas always a lot, but I have a TRX4 but is it better then some of my cheaper crawlers I do not know they are all fun in their ways. But my Defender never spent anywhere as much as you have on your bronco. But for a cheap entry into crawling it's good or maybe the FTX option.
Thanks for watching and commenting Mal. I really appreciate it. Luckily I have both cars and the new Bronco's still on the project list (I like the Pro Scale light set). But the Beluga earned it's stars two days ago, and I'm impressed. It did everything the TRX4 Sport did on the trip. My compromise is, use the Beluga as a beginner crawler and then take a TRX or SCX or Phoenix and go crazy on the upgrades.
@@RCBirds I can understand Traxxas for quality and upgrade ability. But I still like some of the cheaper cars, The FTX super cheap and been great all year. But then I do not upgrade much, only when I think it's needed.

Ich versuche mal Deine Liste an Argumenten "abzuarbeiten". Dabei möchte ich mich weniger auf den alten TRX4 Bronco, als den neuen, das Modell von '21, beziehen.
Für meinen TRX4 Bronco'21 habe ich etwa €600 bezahlt. Mit den Upgrades:
✔ some optical modification
✔ Beadlock rims 1.9
✔ swamper und rock tyres
✔ wheel spacing on front and rear axles
✔ 25kg steering servo
✔ winch
✔ Hobbywing HW38020313 Xerun Axe540L R2-2800kV FOC Combo
✔ Interior and The Nun figure
✔ Reely Soundmodul (baugleich mit dem ESS-Modul)
komme ich dann auf etwa €1200.
Ja, das ist eine Menge Kohle, aber dank der entsperrbaren Diffs kann man den Brushless-Motor auch wirklich gut nutzen. Du hast Recht, dass man beim reinen Crawlen auf losem Untergrund mit permanent gesperrten Diffs keine Probleme hat. Aber sobald man sich nen stärkeren Motor einbaut merkt man sehr schnell, dass die Diffs gesperrt sind.
Als ich mir meinen TRX4 Bronco'21 kaufte kannte ich den Absima BronX noch nicht, den Du ja allein schon wegen seines Names disqualifiziert hast. 😉 (Ja, ja... Das nehme ich auch nicht zu ernst. 😁) Wenn ich mich jedoch mit dem heutigen Wissen zwischen den 3 Autos entscheiden müsste, dann würde ich den Absima wählen. Der hat auch Portalachsen, ist 1/8 groß, einzeln zu ent-sperrende Differentiale einen ausreichend starken Lenkservo und ein geiles Beleuchtungskid inclusive! In dem Auto noch die erwähnte Combo von Hobbywing drin und das Soundmodul von Reely... GENIAL!
Danke für's Anschauen und den ausführlichen Kommentar. Mei eigentliche Review (ein Englisches und ein Deutsches) kommt noch im Jänner. Sicherlich hätte ich noch ein bisschen bei meinem 79er sparen können. Die Prolineteile lagen um die 300 Flocken. Und 90 EUR für ein Soundmodule dienen auch nicht gerade der Performanceverbesserung😁. Aber gut, ich habe hier eine Einkaufsliste für den 21er TRX4 liegen. Mit allen Originalteilen, sowie die von Proscale und Proline kam ich auf 2K. Istbauch schwer zu schätzen, da mein Traxxasdealer der mit den Mondpreisen und hohen Prozentnachlässen ist. Führte jedenfalls dazu, daß ich mir den Tundra zugelegt hatte.
Ich möchte den neuen Bronco zwar immer noch haben, da Traxxas in auch in schwarz anbietet. Würde dann aber auf ein paar Teile verzichten oder günstiger kaufen. Und hoffe auch mal darauf, daß Traxxas ein vernüftiges Lenkservo mit Metallhorn und BEC von vornherein einbaut.
Im Endeffekt muß es Jeder selbst wissen, was er macht. Ich kann den Beluga beruhigter den Zwergen in die Hand drücken, als meinen hochgezüchten Scalebronco. Auch wil an der Funke nicht so viel zu schalten ist.😉
Da Du dir so viel Mühe gemacht hast, möchte ich Dir meinen Traum-Bronco auflisten:

Ich will aber auch noch Messingteile haben, die wahrscheinlich auch noch mal mit 400 reinhauen und bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich bei Traxxas nicht auf die Schnelle irgendwelche Teile vergessen habe. Und wie schon gesagt, es müssen nicht exakt die Teile sein. Es gibt sicherlich günstigere Alternativen. Aber ich stehe halt auf plug and play. 😉
@@RCBirds Haben müssen und nicht ist so ne Sache! Im Grunde braucht man die meisten Autos nicht, denn was kann man mit denen mehr machen als fahren? "Genauso" wie mit dem Auto das / den Autos die man schon hat. 😉 Insofern... Jeder wie er will! 😁 Ich finde es aber schon krass wie ausgefeilt Deine Vorstellungen bezüglich des neuen TRX4 Broncos sind. Und das obwohl es noch nicht mal ein Fahrtvideo mit dem Beluga gibt. 😂
Aber letztendlich frage ich mich, welchen Vorteil ein billiger Crawler gegenüber dem teureren hat, wenn Du den billigen Crawler so pimpst, dass er wieder vergleichbar teuer ist. Nun ja, da können die Kids ja im Grunde genauso viel Kohle zerstören. 😉
Auf jeden Fall werden die Kids mit dem Beluga mehr Spaß haben als die Kinder, die so ein Revell-Modell für €30 bekommen.
@Wurstkommission klar, wenn schon denn schon. Ich lege zu jedem Projekt erstmal eine Mappe an, daher kann ich einfach auf die Daten zugreifen. Und für mich klar machen, ob es weiter geht.😉
Das Pimpen war, abgesehen davon daß ich es wollte, dazu gedact, um zu sehen was man mit einer Alternative machen kann bis man den Einstandspreis vom Teuren Modell erreicht hat. Also irgendwie ein Experiment für mich. Daß ich nun einen super Motor, bessere Schlappen, Licht und Sound habe, ist dabei ein durchaus angenehmer Effekt.
Der Wagen läuft aber auch ohne Änderungen gut. Die ersten Fahrszenen habe ich stock im Vorstellungsvideo gezeigt. Es kommen die nächsten Wochen zwei Fahrvideos, wo der Beluga 4 Stunden unterwegs war und dabei 87 Höhenmeter hoch und wieder runter geschafft hat.😀
Die Zwerge haben schon 30 Euro Fahrzeuge von mir bekommen. Nun sind die Hände passend für normale Funken gewachsen und sie haben schon den CR-01 gefahren. Nun kann ich den TRX4 fahren und sie mit dem Beluga. Ein Kind sieht im Anfang nicht die feinen Unterschiede, wie wir sie kennen. Sondern nur die Größe, das Licht und den Krach. Mögliche Schäden sollten billig reparabel sein. Die kritischen Teile hat Banggood auch im Sortiment.
Im Endeffekt, stimme ich Dir zu, Jeder wie er es will.👍 Ich habe, auch wenn mich der Beluga überzeugt hat, im Grunde nur eine Alternative aufgezeigt und versucht Entscheidungshilfen zu geben. Die Entscheidung pro oder contra ggü. dem Wagen liegt beim geneigten Zuschauer . Ich hoffe, auch so verstanden worden zu sein.
Und mal unter uns Creatoren, das Thema boosted meinen Kanal ganz schön, darum werde ich die Sau auch im Januar weiter durch's Dorf treiben. 😁.

@@RCBirds hab den gelben Urinflitzer genommen. Fand ich am besten. Bin gespannt ob noch etwas Zoll drauf kommt. War unter 200€ bei Ali. Musste ich zuschlagen. Alu Beadlocks und neue (günstige) Reifen sind auch schon unterwegs. Gibt ja tausend Tuning (Optik) Sachen, die irgendwie alle cool sind.
Eine Frage: könnte man eine original Traxxas TRX4 Karo auf dem fahren? Also passen diese clipsless Body Vierkant Löcher genau überein?
Spannend. Ob Du Zoll zahst, ist schwer zu sagen. Landen die Pakete in Belgien, nope. Kommen Sie über Frankfurt kann das passieren. Kenne jetzt nicht die Bedingungen von Ali, da ich bei Banggood kaufe. Dort waren sie immer zollfrei.
Welche Karo wollst Du denn nutzen? Das Ding ist, daß beim Clipless-Sytem keine Karohalter mehr auf dem Chassis sind. Das sind vielmehr Versteifungsrahmen in der Blase selbst. Und vier Nasen greifen dann in Löcher am Chassis.
Daher gibt es zwei Möglichkeiten:
1. Die Clipless-Rahmen in eine Karo einbauen und ggf. In der Breite anpassen.
2. klassische Karohalter holen und am Chassis befestigen.
Egal wie, da Beides Anpassungen erfordert, ist es egal. Nur der Radstand sollte passen. Der kann beim Beluga nicht geändert werden.
Mir ist zu Ohren gekommen, daß Traxxas nun komplett auf Clipless umstellen will und die Highlift Blazers dieses schon haben. Daher könnte man 3. auf eine solche Karo in naher Zukunft spekulieren.

Ich finde diese old school Blazer Karos ganz geil. Naja Mal sehen. Erstmal muss das Auto überhaupt kommen. Man fühlt sich bei China Bestellungen immer sie ein Kind was auf Weihnachten wartet 😅
Schreiben die rein, um keine Kundenbeschwerden zuzulassen. Dücke Dir die Daumen. Selbst mit dem Zoll, liegst Du immer noch recht günstig. Aber halte mich mal auf dem Laufenden
Es ist wie bei unseren großen Auto´s - kauf einen Benz und die Extraliste ist lang und teuer, hole einen Japaner oder ähnliches da heißt die Extraliste Serienausstattung. Sehr schöner Vergleich!
Ja, da stimme ich zu. Wobei meine W124-T E-Klasse nach dem Mondeo das bisher zweitbilligste Auto war. Teuer wird es nur, wenn man für den Fahrbetrieb unnötigen Schnickschnack haben will. Und genauso ist es auch hier, wenn ich ohne Diffs crawlen kann, warum dafür bezahlen und am Sender einen Schalter haben, der nie bewegt wird? Die letzte Fahrt hat gezeigt, daß der Beluga mit einem TRX4 mithalten kann. Und das reicht mir.

Denke der Beluga nimmt den Platz des alten Reely Free Men ein in Sachen günstigster Scale Crawler der noch was taugt ein. Schaltbare Sperren ja selbst 2 Ganggetriebe habe ich kaum genutzt , serienmäßige Beleuchtung finde ich viel interessanter und ein leichtes Auto klettert immer noch am besten.Eine Fusion 1200 SE rein und man hat ein topp Auto!Ich hasse bei Traxxas das aufwendige konfigurieren des RTR Senders.Ne einfache Funke mit den nötigsten Einstellungen mehr braucht es nicht.Arbeitskollege hat sich den Beluga bestellt,bin gespannt wie der so im Gelände performt.
Du sprichst mir aus der Seele. Das waren auch die Gründe, warum ich mich für den Beluga entschieden habe. Habe mich einmal versehentlich beim TRX4 auf Ketten verschaltet und den Motor geschlachtet.
Der Beluga ist aufgerüstet. Ziel war es, zu sehen, was man Alles an Ergänzungen reinstecken kann, bevor der Kitpreis vom TRX erreicht ist. Mein Beluga hat den 1800 Fussion SE, eine funktionierende Winde, extra Lampies und das ESS Dual Modul drin. In der Playlist findest Du alle weiteren Videos zu den Dingen, die ich verändert habe. Angefangen mit günstigen Änderungen wie längere Beleuchtungskabel, Aufkleber, Antenne.
Zwischen den Jahren habe ich mit Gottfrieds TRX einen vieranhalb stündigen Lauf gemacht. Konnte ohne Probleme mithalten.

I think the difference is copy and look alike. Using other names and functions and putting only stuff into the car every other manufactor might use, might be allowed. As I bought it, I waived some of the functions a TRX has, but I'm fine with it. The car's a good quality standard, and many modelers in Asia like it, so I jumped on the train😁
The beluga has many names around the world.
Easy to make knockoffs when you make the real thing right next door with slightly or much better metals and plastics….ive had good luck with cheaper knockoffs, but when have the real thing can always see the difference better tire compound, better metal and plastics are never a bad thing. If you just trail not too hard I don’t think notice a diffeence. But I’d put through extreme testing I’d bet the traxxas would hold up better….even though I’d never buy one. I’m unapologetically an Axial Element Rc4wd body fan.
Traxxas and their lawsuits are something I wasn’t a fan of for aftermarket parts…completely copying their engineering is sketchy but they all share a lot of the same basic stuff we all live same world same gears oils wires plugs etc etc etc!!!

Not there for and you're right. I think it completely is all about what you'll like to do with the car. And my tests so far proof what you said. The Beluga's cheap on a high standard. And might not last as long, but for my grandkids it's perfect. BTW talking about performance, my TRX4 needed a stronger servo, a metal arm and a BEC for the steering. This ain't a good sign adding 15% on the purchase price just to get the car normal to run.
Luckily a crawler isn't a basher, so I hope my Beluga'll last very long.

I don’t bash either and your right plastic links, crappy electronics, sub par tires…all depending on not happy lately with out my 150 motor 90 servo 100 chassis some brass 100 tires 80 wheels all a slight exaggeration but I use the axles trans links sometimes etc and those hold up better than even my rgts I’ve had. That being said respect to everyone and the way they get happy!!
