As we all prepare to say goodbye to Rafael Nadal after over 20 years on the tennis court, enjoy my tribute of his youth and humble beginnings on the tour. Footage depicting his champion mentality is from his win as a 13 year old in the junior Petit As tournament in 2000. This tribute also runs through his first tournament win Sopot 2004, his win in Miami of Roger Federer, his first Masters 1000 title in Monte Carlo 2005 and his first Grand Slam victory at roland Garros in 2005.
He has brought an intensity, passion and determination that has never been seen before on a tennis and we should cherish every moment of his 2024 season, starting at the Brisbane International and moving through the Australian Open.
