    I like that you know about the facts behind the space pen. Great video, you helped me out a lot. I recently got a job in an office environment and I'm a pen nerd. I needed a refill for my Parker Jotter that is a little better than the standard Parker refill. Gonna pick up the Schmidt, because I've tried some of their other refills. I'm a fan of the ceramic ball they use. The Parker Jotter is cheap enough to leave at my desk at work and not worry too much about it disappearing, I can easily replace it if someone gets any ideas.

      So glad this helped. The Schmidt is better, for sure. It's a little too thick for me, but I like a thin line.

      'Cheap' depends on how rich you are. $18 is not cheap for everyone.

    In similarity of the schmit easy flow I would say the cross edge ink is some we're in the ball park of being the more like a schmit as of terms of when the ink bonds to the paper but it problem doesn't feel the same with writing

    When I was in school and the Parker was introduced as a "T'ball Jotter" for its tungsten ball. Under magnification the line was a maze of ink spots. Cross on the other hand often left globs of smearing, sticky, messy ink. I noticed an old Parker pen laying in a drawer the other day that appeared to be dry, but with a little coaxing it started writing. I noticed the Parker Gel refills while looking in my local store. I used the pilot Dr Grip for the last bit before I retired, since not needing to go through multiple copies, I've been playing with fountain pens since,, have you considered a Monteverde Tool?

    The old parker refill was definitely good. I remember using the blue ink parker refill (probably in 2003 or something). The ink was something unique colour like a blue-black or has a greenish tone and much darker.
    Now after introducing the quinkflow the ink seems more diluted and light in colour. Thats why I use the Schmidt p900 refill. Not the quikflow. Ty. 🙏

    Belive it or not. I bought my first Parker Jotter today at Staples in my town. It is the black body and silver or steel top version. Right now it only comes with the Parker quiteflow refill. But I am going to order some Shymkent easyflowe 9000 refills as You talked about sorry. I am not a good speller at all. I also think I mite be getting some of the refill ink names wrong or some how not right. Great Video.

    Can I use a Parker refill for a tactical pen that uses Fisher Space Pen refills?

    • @jordanquinley2471
      @jordanquinley2471  Před 2 lety +1

      Generally, no. The Fisher refills are smaller. They come with a plastic adapter to make them compatible with Parker, but you can't do it the other way around.

    I just received a Fisher Space Pen for my Birthday. I seriously disliked the Black ink. I purchased a Blue, a Burgandy, and a Turquoise refills. The Blue refill is the smoothest of the four, followed closely by the Burgandy. The Black and Turquoise are not as smooth writing.
    I have found that black ink in general does not flow as well as blue.
    Your thoughts?

      I own several Parker and Fisher pens, so I can advise you on this. Parker cartridges will not fit into any Fisher pen model. But all Fisher cartridges come with a little white plastic converter that enables you to use the cartridge in all Parker models.

    The ink in the Space Pen has nasty habit of spreading weeks later on cheap paper. At least the broad tip black ink ones do. I've seen things I wrote weeks later bleed through and spread out from the original line. Which is why I avoid them now.

      You can use any of these in a Parker ballpoint pen--and any pen that uses that style, like the Retro 51. The Fisher needs a little plastic adapter to fit, but it usually is included when you buy it.

    Quinkflow and the EasyFlow9000 are the best - Fisher's cartridge is garbage for writing quality but has features that make it useful people who are in the jungles or in space or on the battlefield and need to write things down when it's raining out or upside down.
    I'm a grown man, I'm not pretending to be in a survival situation whenever I leave the house and have to choose a pen, so I steer clear of the low quality Fisher refills. The standard Parker refill is amazing in medium or fine. The EasyFlow 9000 used to be my favorite, but it's a bit inconsistent depending on the sort of paper you use (like the Uniball Jetstream pens).
    Also, the Monteverde makes some decent refills for Parker - not great, but better than many. Not to mention Parker's own gel refills which are great.

    • @jordanquinley2471
      @jordanquinley2471  Před 6 lety

      I agree that Parker's own gel refill is really nice. Believe it or not, you can now get that in a fine point in Europe. I have been able to order it from Amazon UK. It's a bit of a pain, but they're my favorite refills currently.

      DamionJR4923 you’ll need to try the Jetstream pens which use a fantastic writing cartridge and a hybrid ink that won’t smear. These are some of the finest writing pens you can buy. These don’t have the classier designs such as the Jotter, but I ALWAYS take function over form. Besides, some of these models by Jetstream are not half bad looking and feel great in the hand. Otherwise, try the gel ink pens, by Zebra, Pentel, or Uni-Ball (Signo). Happy writing

    • @DamionJR4923
      @DamionJR4923 Před 4 lety +1

      James Battista Thanks for your input. I found the Schmidt easy flow 9000 refill writes good. It is very similar to the Jetstream. The ink seems like a mix between a gel and ball point pen. For disposable pens I like the Uni ball signing black ink in .5 and the Pilot G2 in ultra fine .38.
