LARGE LOCUST BOWL

- Pulled this thick chunk out of the wood pile, I'm going to attempt to turn a large locust bowl from of this chunk wood. The lathe will be maxed out and hope I don't break something in the process. All comments are welcome good or bad.

Really impressive work, as that is one BIG bowl you made there. Keep it up.
Dancing lathe and the blank popping off are some of the most aggravating parts of turning. Glad you stuck with it, bowl looks good.

After that happened to me, I started using tail stock support on bigger pieces.
@donaldseth8074 I actually have one but the bowl was too big to accommodate the steady rest

Beautiful end result! I hate dealing with unbalanced pieces, and big cracks like that make it so much worse. Anything you think is centered/ concentric ends up slightly off due to the wobble. and that can throw everything off down the line. Good job sticking with it!
p.s. Our tiny WEN lathes don't mind being maxed out. I've done it a few times with unbalanced pieces and the bearings are still mostly fine!
