    Thank you for your perfectly timed video content. Last Sunday, I pulled out my stash of greeting cards I have saved for 40 plus years. It was interesting to go through them and I made floss drops out of them. It was nice to read what past loves wrote on the cards. Grandmothers, nieces past lovers. I haven't pulled out my Mom's cards because I lost her recently and just can't go there yet. But, having the drops intertwined with a loved project is really extra special. As far as the "hater" telling you that you talk too much, you are totally right... she is welcomed to scroll on by. I don't know why they make the effort to slam someone for what they are taking time to do to help. You continue to do you... it's who I'm here for. Your quirky sense of humor is just fine and gives no offense so Enjoy yourself.

      Thank you for supporting my channel with your kindness!! I’m so sorry you lost your Mom recently, that must be so difficult for you. I love the idea of making floss drops out of memorable greeting cards, it would bring so much more love and joy into your stitching time to see them and use them. I hope you have a blessed week and enjoy as much stitching time as you can. 💕

    What a smart purchase. Sometimes we forget to look around for items that are not cross stitch specific that can serve just as well, only without the expense. Smart.
    I have no place to hang floss drops. Instead, I found the best of both worlds. No winding (I hate that) but no hanging either. It's a floss drop you can wound like a bobbin at Atom Heart Cross stitch.

    Thanks for your tutorial! I find sorting dimensions thread and organizing them to be a pain. I've avoided using floss drops because I thought I would have to unloop all the threads to get one strand off the drop. I didn't know that you could slide one strand off while all the threads are still on the floss drop. Thanks for the tip. Wow! People can be so rude! Why are you watching flosstube if you don't want to hear people talk? I found that when I started making videos. I had one person ask me if I could change my accent because they thought it was annoying! I didn't know I even had an accent. 😂😂 Keep being you and ignore the nasties out there!

    Very helpful video. As I'm watching you talk about Dimensions kits I am working on that chickadee one. I really like the tip you gave about the hole puch above the spot in the thread. I will do that. I got it for Xmas and have only been stitching for a short time. It is quite overwheming to change colors so much. I have the newer version without the bundles. One symbol had a blend of 2 strands of 2 threads. I did a lot of those before I realized it's 2 of each thread instead of one. I figure once I get done and see that the lacking threads are noticeable I will redo. At least I didn't do too many stitches in that symbol so I can easily redo it. I don't think you talk a lot. I like your flosstube so please keep talking. You really are interesting to listen to. Thanks for your smart tips. Much apppreciated.

      @NeedleberryStitcher  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you for the nice comment! So glad to hear you are working on Chickadees and Lilacs, I really love that one 💕 You might find when you’re done that the area you stitched with the fewer blended threads looks just fine and you may not have to re-stitch it. 🙂 I would wait until the end and ask other people if they can even tell.

      @@NeedleberryStitcher Yes, it's a pretty pattern. I just found an X half done. So I got to remember to fix it. It probably wont be noticable just like the missing thread, but I feel so compelled to get that one stitch. I'll definitely have to rewatch the bit on how you put your floss on the drops. That would be super helpful on some I'm getting ready to start. One has 39 colors. I have got to be organized for sure.

    Very good video. I've moved from bobbins and thread drops to Annie's keepers, but still enjoyed your process. I am not an engineer like you and my Sister, but very early on (25+ years), I figured out the same system for organizing my floss when working on Dimensions and Dimensions Gold Collection and Sunset patterns. The folks at Kinko's (remember them) loved to see me walk in the door as they knew I had a new cross-stitch project. Remember; the plethora of color printers we now take for granted in our homes were not so prolific (and they were definitely cost prohibitive for many) so the folks at Kinko's were my extended family. :) I am so glad that new generations of stitchers continue to find D and D Gold worthy of stitching. They are classics! Take care and happy stitching.

      @NeedleberryStitcher  Před 2 lety +1

      You sound very organized!! And I agree that Dimensions kits are classic/awesome!! I considered Annie’s Keepers but at the time I was switching off bobbins I couldn’t find any, that’s how I ended up with the card stock and punches. I might still try Annie’s Keepers at some point so I can compare.

    I keep all my floss in bags that are then stored on photo boxes. I like them away and and covered because I worry about them getting dirty/dusty. For each project I found these really nice plastic thread organizers. Like the paper ones in the kits but plastic with bigger holes on them. I use little labels for color numbers and symbols for the projects. I like that they plastic organizers are reusable. Your floss drops look cool though because going through the boxes to pull floss for a project or go out left over threads back into the boxes can be a big pain for sure. And they take up a fair amount of room.

    • @NeedleberryStitcher
      @NeedleberryStitcher  Před 2 lety

      I understand what you mean about the dust, I do put them into a project bag when I’m not using them but still they are exposed to light and dust and all the things. I guess I’m just at a point where I’d rather spend more time stitching than sorting. 😃 I keep all my extra floss in Ziploc bags in my craft drawers.

    If you unravel the whole skein, bring the cut end together, then the loop ends to the cut ends, and then do that one more time. Cut the 7 loops that are right next to the cut ends and viola you have a whole skien cut at once and no left over. It’s perfect for a loop start. No ruler needed.

    Glad I found you. When I started cross stitch back in the '80's it was bobbins, bobbins, bobbins!!! Since my return, about four years ago EVERYTHING has changed. Then there's Flosstube!wow. Thread drops(here in UK we call thread thread, not floss or string,sorry not sorry). Organisation is a hard one. I did love the idea of putting them in numerical order hanging in a folder style container. I'm lazy and never put them back in order. I've started to put them in colour order, using card and punches on a coat hanger cut after watching your video I'm going to try your way. I've got enough card stock to decorate a house so that's not a problem. It may help some of your viewers to know you can order labels from Amazon for a few pounds/dollars. Thanks. p.s Its good to know you are not affected by comments but I think that person was rude, as you say they don't have to watch. I'm off to watch your previous videos. Take care🤗

    Very informative video. While I had made floss drops for kits since the floss is already cut to lengths (which I then braid together and put into the project bag), I am a bobbinator at heart. Partly because with both cats and small children I need my floss to be in a closed container when not in active use, but also because I am somewhat obsessed with making sure neither my floss or projects are exposed to unneccessary light which could fade, bleach, or alter the colors over time. All my floss in in floss boxes in one large drawer of my desk, and all my projects are in bags in another big drawer, and I only pull out what I need for my active project and put everything away at the end of the day (my stitching spot is at my desk). I don't find using bobbins to distract from my stitching at all, though I know it's definitely not for everyone. Always fun to learn about different methods.

    It is good to see how other cross stitchers control there floss. I have just started to do floss drops on binder clips for my projects and am liking it so much better than bobbins or baggies. I also put my kit threads on floss drops when they come in the bundles. I put all the info on the floss drop, but I write in pencil so I can erase and reuse the floss drop, change symbols as needed. I say keep being you, if someone has a problem as you said they don't have to watch. I am looking forward to your next video.

    Hi there! I recently discovered your channel and am enjoying it very much! This video is perfect for me at the moment since I am transitioning to thread drops as well- from skeins in baggies, in project bags. Great video that is no doubt going to illuminate these very logical ideas for many stitchers! First to address the ridiculous comment. This is a channel for you to show AND TALK about cross stitch --- sounds like this person stopped in at the wrong place. I've watched all of your videos so far and have enjoyed everyone. If the person was referring specifically to the Mira review videos and your pattern information, I, as a Mira/Nora stitcher appreciated all the extra info you provided. Bottom line, I'd let the person and the comment pass on by. Should he/she return with more annoying comments, I believe there are ways you can block the comment?? You are doing everything right, in my opinion, and obviously over 900 subscribers so early on must think the same thing! Anyhow - thanks for all of todays info and I look forward to your next video. Keep stitching and smiling! Steph

    As a former systems analyst, my mind works the same way! My floss system is almost exactly the same. But I have found 100 gift tags for $8.99 on Amazon (just search for hang gift tags) that are the same thing. I just toss the string ties that come with them. Then all I need to do is the one large hole punch at the bottom for the floss. On the reverse, I use removable round stickers to write on the symbol. When I am done with the project I remove that sticker and the floss goes back into the "master" storage.

    I think thread drops are wonderful and wish I could use them, but my problem is I also do punch needle. I also use my DMC for punch needle. Punch needle requires very long strands of thread. Usually if I’m doing a large area of the same color, I will take the entire skein and divide it into three strands and wrap it around a spool. So if I’m using thread drops and have to cut the thread I’ve defeated my purpose. I could probably buy other skeins and keep them just for punch needle, but that gets expensive number one and number two I don’t want to have to go through all that. I want to be able to just go and get my floss and takeoff as much as I need for Crosstitch, or for a punch needle.

    • @NeedleberryStitcher
      @NeedleberryStitcher  Před 3 měsíci

    Just found your channel. I agree, floss drops are the way to go! Once I started using them I never looked back. It was helpful to see how you organize your drops - the hanger is an awesome idea. I store my extra skeins (and floss drops not in use) in snack ziplocks and I have them filed in a drawer. I tend to kit up each project individually instead of working from a master set of floss drops. I do have a master spreadsheet that tells me what colors are being used in which WIP. I am sure I will continue to tweak the system but it is working for now, lol. I must admit that I do like seeing all the colors hanging together like in your system. So tempting to do that as well, but I have nowhere to hang that much floss, lol. What do you do if you have more than one skein of a certain color? Do you measure and cut it all or do you store them somewhere else, curious minds would like to know? Thanks for sharing 💖🤗
