That one you have looks really cool. I have the Stapelia Varigata. Shes had a few flowers. I also smelled it and would regret it. Then everytime i get a wiff of it when I'm busy doing plant chores near where i keep it. My niece smelled it once, and she now asks me where is the stinky flowers 😂 its busy with a bloom at the moment. Their flowers are so intricate and strange. But really enjoy them despite the smell.
It certainly is different. It seems odd that it would put out such a large flower......considering that they grow from towers. Admire from a distance. I am happy for you, that it did bloom. Have a great weekend. 🌸
Hi plantzNThings, I had such a cactus 12 years. It bloomed in dozens all summer in large eye-catchig pink flowers & their stink smell gathered together all filies of the whole city.....discasting plant...I was lucky because it grew outside.
Oh WOW Bill, what an absolutely BEAUTIFUL bloom, and an AMAZING big Stapelia too, I grow the Stapelia gigantea, and hirsuta and a few no ID's, they are wonderful bloomers and thank goodness the blooms are more beautiful than they smell haha, thanks so much for sharing the beauty with us, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Canada for a wonderful weekend XXXX
That is so freaking cool! Definitely making me want to get one for my collection. I’ve been watching you for years and I seriously can’t believe you aren’t famous yet. Love the videos, thank you so much for posting!
@@PlantzNThings if you wanted to upscale your channel I would definitely recommend posting some interesting facts and weird and unusual plants on TikTok. That would definitely help to grow your channel. But I agree, less drama is always better! Thank you for getting back to me. Again, really appreciate your channel and your videos!
Really interesting video! I started a couple from cuttings in the spring which seem to be doing well. I found the bit about them dying off after a couple of years really useful, I'll be prepared now! 😊
I'm growing the Stapelia leendertziae. Loving it so fat. It hasn't flowered yet for me. Mine is getting too big to sit in the window sill. I'm thinking of trimming it.
Yes! I have stapelia gigantia, and yeah, they smell like trash, but I just got a leendertziae, and I was surprised by how much they smell like rotting meat!
I have the star cactus or stepellaplant it is outgrown it's pot and has had what looks like a small bloom beginning, then it dries up and falls off. This has happened se veral times.bwhat could be wrong?any idea? Thanks
The buds previously fell off my Stapelia leendertziae, but I wasn't good about watering it. This year I watered it consistently, just enough to moisten the soil every few days, drying in between, and the flower bloomed.
I was taking a sip of soda, that face you made when you smelled the flower almost made me choke 🤣 🌺💚🙃
Hehe... it was so Bad... OMG 😲
Yes, that was rather amusing ! 🙂

Oh, yes, you can smell it from farther away! My plant is outside and I could smell it from at least 6 feet, and that was just a single flower.
You are so funny! I like your vids learn a lot!🪴
Thanks 😊
Lovely bloom
It’s so beautiful!and you are funny
Thanks 😀

Lol that was cute! Thanks for the great info!
I wish you had shown what you had it growing in. I couldn't tell if it was growing UP or growing DOWN.
I used to have the orbea variegata too and am looking for one again. The flowers are quite striking for the size and not terribly smelly as I recall.
The Orbea variegata is a Beauty, I agree it's certainly less offensive than others in the family when it comes to Fragrance
Interesting...
Thanks for the laugh, Bill! Lesson learned: don't sniff these ones.
That was hilarious when you sniffed it. I have mine 3 years also but mine hasn't bloomed yet.
Wonderful
A beauty
😊cute plant that looks like a bell. Best to keep it upside down rather than smell it!😏
Lol So True
So beautiful
“Smells like a dead mouse”😂
Have we ever seen your complete collection of plants? 🌺💚🙃
I don't think a complete collection... I usually group them by type.. if I did them all it would be a half day video...lol
Yes! I have stapelia gigantia, and yeah, they smell like trash, but I just got a leendertziae, and I was surprised by how much they smell like rotting meat!
I overwatered mine and it died…I’m so jealous- that’s awesome

I've had buds fail when I move them... so I guess it would be due to environment... maybe the amount of light changed? Or even a sharp temp change?
