Automobilista 2 Changed Sim Racing FOREVER!!

- Ams2's newest update brought a massively important change that not a lot of people are talking about. This change could have an influence on sim racing forever, and may help with Ams2's growth.
Historic Le Mans was announced at the same time as Reiza announced Le Mans coming this year. To be clear, the target is three historic and two "modern" layouts.
I've completely fallen in love with AMS2 in the last two weeks - after not really playing it at all for the last two years (and only occasionally before that). I'm really excited for Le Mans as well, along with a bunch of new cars they announced. AFAIK, it'll not only be the current version of Le Mans, but also 70s and 90s versions. It would be awesome to get some cars from the same era along with that (e.g. the Porsche 917K). And given that modding is now officially supported as well, I wonder how the AMS2 modding scene will develop.
Defidentally the same thoughts here. Ams2 is really starting to show its potential.
@@OliverDvnn Another feature I'd love to see is driver swaps for online racing. I love endurance racing, and a 24h of Le Mans online race in AMS2 would be amazing.
@@virtualpaddock That would be awesome. Unfortunately not a lot of sims have that right now, but I do believe you can get the ai to control the car for you during offline endurance.
Same here. ams2 at the moment is just joy and fun. I love to hop in my sim, wearing my vr headset and just enjoy ams2 for uncomplicated racing! At the moment i race the vintage and retro formula on historic tracks. Never been a fan of ams2 since release because of physics and ffb. But now, oh my it's so much fun haha 🎉
Been a big AMS 2 fanboy for a while now but this update is something else I really feel like I can recommend this game to people, great video

Now I’ll be honest, I haven’t driven either incarnation of this sim.
But I do know that people have complained about why nobody has dealt with weather in sim racing the way MicroProse did with it’s Grand Prix series. It’s taken forever for games to get wet weather racing, with dry lines and changeable weather condition done the way Grand Prix 4 did it.
as the track dries out, dry lines start to appear. It can be wet in one part of the track and bone dry in another part. It’s just taken way too many years for the market to do what Grand Prix 4 from MicroProse did.
No, Grand Prix 4 isn’t perfect. It’s an old sim and it has a much simpler tire model. But on that topic, who has figured out tire collision the way the Micro-Pose Grand Prix Series did it.

Keep an update! Pcars2 had the best weather system, with rallycross and wet with acquaplaning and potholes.
Then, came AMS2 inherediting weather from Pcars2.
Other tip, uninstall mods from AC, it is not worth
I do very much like the classic stuff. 80s 90s etc. it’s more fun driving the weird stuff.

AMS2 is nice just tried it for the first time but i can’t see it pulling me away from iracing. RaceRoom and AMS2 are neck and neck in the sim world , however the UI is much much better on Ams2.

can u see this game ever atract huge amount of players? like ppl quiting iracing for ams?
I’m not sure about iracing unless ams becomes more multiplayer focused, just cause online players tend to stick to online things. However, I do see people migrating from things like AC to ams. Game certainly has potential, and in the future I think will be a leading game in the genre.

I never had a Moza, so I’ve never looked into it, and I cant find anything about it so I’m not sure.
Nah, it's not changing anything - the driving experience still feels very poor in my opinion. There's no feedback when on the edge of grip or feedback when you start sliding. i keep going back to try it and it just feels wooly.

Not a matter of hate, AMS2 has always felt off and weird feeling and still does, not to mention their replay function is useless. I've purchased every DLC they've had and I just can't gel with it even now. rF2, AC and ACC are far superior.

Still drives terribly, unnaturally, gamey and, at times, completely ridiculous. Reiza can harp on about content updates as much as they want but the fundamental physics won't improve much unless Reiza actually updates the underlying core physics engine and core tyre model which, Reiza, doesn't seem to want to do (or are perhaps not competent to do). Simply updating content rather than underlying physics engine / tyre model is only a compromising band-aid.
When’s the last time you’ve played it? They *have* been updating the physics and tire models.
@@Logan912 Na, they haven't. They update the content, create new tyres (like any modder can do) and then call it "tyre model updates" when they're 2 completely different things. I last drove it about a month ago right after that way overhyped update.
@@Spinelli__ They went in depth talking about a huge bug in SMS’s Madness Engine that caused the tire physics to not work correctly and then fixed it in 1.5.

Why do so many people have zero sense of quality?!?!?!? Automobilista was an arcadey, crappy driving title. AMS 2 looks to be the same. rF2 is the king of simulation. Bow before it!!!

In terms of FFB feel of a car on the limit, RF2 comes a close second to the original AC.
