  • Are you tired of your dirt bike’s aluminum frame looking grimy and marred up? Follow along in this DK Tech Tip as Donn Maeda shows us how to clean and polish a dirt bike frame so you can say goodbye to those annoying black marks and oxidation that build up from your boots and riding.
For this job, you'll need a green Scotch Brite pad (less abrasive than the red one), rubber gloves to keep your hands clean, a rag, and Maxima MPPL multi-purpose penetrant lube (or any similar lubricant). Optional: soft aluminum brushes for hard-to-reach areas.
Start by sanding the frame in the direction of the spars. Use the Scotch Brite pad and lubricant to quickly remove black marks and adhesive buildup. For stubborn adhesive, use a contact cleaner. Apply some elbow grease for those tougher spots. That’s it! A simple, yet effective job that will have your frame looking like new the next time you head to the track.
