The fact that they randomly named this high school after a civil rights leader for literally no reason is just another baffling decision in a long line of baffling decisions that is this movie 😭😭

The guy that plays the Swedish guy went to the same hs I went to and was friends with my brother. Around when Tall Girl came out he visited the high school and acting like he was an A-List celebrity.
Also his interview where he said he was bullied most likely exaggerated. He ran with the popular kids, had a rich dad, and had gigs doing tech for events.
Very brave of you to watch the whole thing for us, I couldn’t watch more than 5 minutes of it

I liked it the first time I watched it but maybe I didn’t pay too much attention I mean I made jokes but it wasn’t that bad

As a swedish person, this is extra cringy lol. No one is called Stig anymore, that's like an American teen being named Margaret.
Also his accent sounds more like Tommy Wiseu, not even close to a swedish accent. Swedish chef is more accurate lmao

I’m 6’3. & hearing, “How’s the weather up there?” has always been an annoying line that you fake laugh to.
My favorite story to that line, is when Kareem and Wilt Chamberlain walk into an elevator together and some average height guy stands between them and says, “Wow, what’s the weather like up there?”
Wilt Chamberlain spits on his head and says, “it’s raining” 😭

So…. being over 5”9’ as a straight girl is definitely a thing; in the same way being under 5”6’ as a straight man is.
Plenty of social studies on dating challenges at these heights.
But does that make for an interesting movie plot? …… no.
Dating apps benefit women much more though. For every 50 matches the average woman gets, the average man only gets 5. Women care more about height than guys do and most want a guy who is at least 5'10 even though they might be 5'5. Guys don't have the option to be picky. If you're a tall girl and don't want to date a guy shorter than you then it's your fault for being too picky about something that doesn't really matter.
Ya I get that, it's just the fact that she's only 6'1 and they act like she's the size of Shaq

@@Chasityolaf When did I gaslight anyone? I just stated that the height disparity affects men the most and that dating apps benefit women. There was no reason to call me undesirable. I'm 5'9 and have dated women in the past. Height was always a major concern for them and most of them wanted to wear heels and be shorter than me which was impossible. There are so many women who say they won't date a guy who is shorter than 6'0. You're the one who's gaslighting.
Im a 6ft tall girl and there really are people who make fun of you for it. Its the first thing people usually comment on about me too. And SO MANY guys won't date girls taller than them. So while the bullying and stuff is exaggerated in this for the effect of the movie, it's not wrong
It's draw backs I can imagine, I'm 5'9 and I've always been teased for being taller and thin, but still not to the point of my life is ruined by it. Also finding clothes that are cute and fit correctly because of my longer arms and torso, but it's not a woe is me type thing. And Yes, I do get that men being incredibly sensitive about their height limits a certain dating pool, but that's a good thing. Because you really wouldn't want to be with someone that worked up about height.

I’ve never heard of this movie but this is the second reaction I’m watching to this tonight. What am I doing with my life. I think I’m subconsciously trying to torture myself. I wonder if there’s serious interviews out there with the writer or director and actors talking seriously and proudly about the film.

It's like they took the plot of the anime Lovely Complex and took out all the good parts lol. Lovely Complex is a way better story about a tall girl and a short guy.

I have a friend who is 7 almost 8 feet tall. THAT'S TALL. And she said yeah some poeple say stupid shit to her from time to time, but nothing like this silly movie.
If y’all don’t know the context, the actress, Ava, was bullied her whole life on national television for her height. She was on ‘dance moms’ for some time where she was constantly brought down by grown adults at the age of 12. She was a child and bullied for being tall. They based the movie off of her personal life because it was traumatizing and caused many insecurities as a child. The movie did really well, 41 million views in the first month, and now they’re making a second movie. I personally really liked this movie.
Then why didn't they use dancing because that would make more sense. You aren't really teased this much about height, if you're not over 6'2". Dancing makes sense because it's harder to dance and look fluid while doing it if you're really tall. Also her parents and that insane lady that abuses kids for views need to be ashamed of themselves.
Once again the boys are at it again.😂 P.S. you guys should check out the movie Don Jon on Netflix
