One of the greatest hits of the Renaissance was written by Pierre Passereau - a leading specialist in the genre of the Parisian song - and became so popular it was sung as far as Venice.
The only purpose of these kind of songs was to entertain people so they often were satirical and even vulgar, sometimes imitating the sounds of animals. A good chance to compare the level of vulgarity then and now.
