When Keane got injured in '97 it was because HE challanged Haaland. Keane's injury wasn't Haalands fault, it was just a by-product of a rash challenge by Keane in which he did damage to his own ligament whilst trying to foul Haaland. Therefore there was no need for revenge regarding the injury itself. If Kean's reason for revenge is because Haaland shouted something to him while he was on the ground, then I think that is a pathetic and disgraceful reason for trying to break Haaland's leg. Pathetic, disgraceful and completely unjustified. I bet Keane is gutted now that Haaland's son plays for City because every time Keane is a TV pundit for a City game he (and the rest of the Country) will be reminded of what a totally 'shit bag' thing he did. He should be embarrassed for the rest of his life.

Haaland told him to "get up you fking cheat" and Keane never forgot that. "don't ever call me a fking cheat again" is what Keane said to him when he stood over Haaland. Funny too how Haaland changes his story all the time on this. In another interview he says that Keanes tackle had absolutely no bearing on why he had to retire. He said the injury that retired him had happened well before this and that the Keane tackle had just confirmed to him that his body couldn't take it anymore.

The second best thing about Erling Haaland signing for City is being able to watch Roy Keane squirm on Sky TV every time he appears as a pundit for a City match. In their post-match round up on Sunday (after City played West Ham) he appeared very uncomfortable talking about Erling Haaland and seemed as though he just wanted to get off the subject and move on (by only giving short, brief answers then letting one of the other pundits take over.) Later on in the post-match chat, Alfie Haaland was mentioned in relation to him being at the match to see his son score twice. The rest of the Sky Sports team were talking openly about it but Roy Keane just went into 'shut-down' as if he just wanted them to stop. Even when they jokingly mentioned it to Keane he just remained silent and looked embarrassed as if he just wanted them to stop talking about it, he looked very uncomfortable indeed. I'm going to enjoy watching him squirm like this every time City are live on Sky. It's an added bonus for me and almost makes up for Gary Neville's inept and childlike commentary in his monotonous droning voice.

I grew up a Keane fan but nah, that foul is not a play on ball. At least Haalands foul was to prevent Keane from getting to ball.
You can hear the pain in Alfie's voice after he mentions the Keane Book part.
I am not a fan of Keane anymore. No one should be.

Hahahah, Utd paid really really big for the reckless Roy Keane made decades ago. Haaland surely would go to Utd at age of 18 without that stupid accident.

If a player do that today he is childish, but for many Utd fans, he did the right thing. Nostalgia bias at its finest

He was injured before the game, had been for months, thats why he had bandage on. yes it was a bad tackle and Roy shouldnt have donr that, but it did not end his career

R u dumb…. Maybe he already had injury problems….. but that rash deliberate purposeful tackle by a low cowardly tackle ended his career in that match….

"I just told him to get up".... If you watch the footage of Keane's injury, it's very clear Haaland had other words, not "get up". He literally paces up to him whilst he's down, and shouts 'a few words' at him. I understand the passion, but, If certain things are said, you can't expect there to be no repercussions. Unfortunately for Haaland, Keane decided to dish out those repercussions four years later. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

Keane had just kicked him off the ball. That's how he injured himself.

It was Keane's own fault he got injured in the first place.

Regardless what, Alfie did it, he got it back, nothing to banter about. You live by the sword, you die by the sword. Alfie isn't one of your goody gentle footballer in the first place. Same thing, Keano lived by that sword and he took hits by that sword which he lived by too. So aye, that's that.
