I have kids her age... So I can't help but just feel for her. I agree with what others say here she absolutely could go far. I feel like that's a common theme here too. These are HUMAN BEINGS. Just like us. Drop the whole well I had a horrible childhood, or environment, good job etc but I didn't turn to the streets.. U know how some are. But not everyone have the same coping skills or financial status among other benefits. I moved here from Rapid City SD 6 years ago & it really really opened my eyes. I didn't see it as much back there. If not for family I would've ended up much like this I'm sure. That's why my parents moved us here with them so my kids would be healthy & happy & I could recover from a very long dark time of grief, of illness, of a horribly toxic, abusive situation. And I am blessed to have them especially now here. I work full time + OT & I literally still can't afford to live. And my kids are older so it's easier.. I can't imagine having little ones on my salary. I don't get any benefits. I can't imagine being 19 & in her situation. It breaks my heart.

@John McCourt just being realistic. I have had a lot of problems with addiction in my life and have had to stay in homeless shelters and been institutionalized many times. I am now married, we own our own home, and I have been clean and healthy for several years. I hope everyone can be so lucky. It's a nice thought that people are just down on their luck sometimes and end up in bad situations. Sometimes that is true, but the reality is that it's usually decisions, behaviors, and mental health issues that put them there, and these things are extremely difficult and even impossible for most people to change. The numbers are extremely grim.
I know this girl. She was at a treatment center I worked at. She assaulted several staff members and is super bipolar. Her mother is horrible. Sad to see what she has become.

@John McCourt just being realistic. I have had a lot of problems with addiction in my life and have had to stay in homeless shelters and been institutionalized many times. I am now married, we own our own home, and I have been clean and healthy for several years. I hope everyone can be so lucky. It's a nice thought that people are just down on their luck sometimes and end up in bad situations. Sometimes that is true, but the reality is that it's usually decisions, behaviors, and mental health issues that put them there, and these things are extremely difficult and even impossible for most people to change. The numbers are extremely grim.

I know this girl. She was at a treatment center I worked at. She assaulted several staff members and is super bipolar. Her mother is horrible. Sad to see what she has become.

Sad story, wish I've took notes & filmed my homeless life in 2018, seriously wanted to make it a movie because to sit through this lifestyle, SUCKS. To wake up not knowing you got a gun or a knife to your face is scary. Or Police not allowing you to sleep in your car because you're "disturbing the peace". I'm lucky I found refuge. This is so sad. There is probably a good person in there somewhere those drugs just take over your brain. People like to belittle you for ever having ended up like that but the focus and determination it takes to go from homeless drug addict to sober working minimum wage and renting a room is more than going from a D student to a Doctorate.

2. Divorce your Husband. Don’t let anyone abuse you. Love yourself.
3. IF Possible Surround yourself with (positive) people. That will encourage you to what you want to achieve.
4. Ask for help. You’re young you still have your whole life in front of you.

When I was 17 I was working full time, had nothing n walked rode busses everyday to and from work.
I wasn't worried about men and I busted my ass, paid bills and tried to make a semi decent life for myself.
Life is hells tough but it also about ur choices effect the route u go in a way as well.
Well, I don't agree 100%. Sometimes, parents shows right and wrong, but the kid defies and want's to try anyway, specially this generation that they believe everything is ok, they have more rights than dues, etc. I have a 17 years old, that used cannabis with his friends. I discovered and freked out, but they don't care, its always the same story.... everybodyes does, many places are legal... you need to update your self., etc. Well, still, while under my roof and me paying the bill, its my rules...but that does not avoid him doing what I tought is wrong.
I wouldn’t say all parents but some thank God mine turned out great but it could have went the other way with my Grandson lost his mom at 15 and I was Blessed at finish raising him and I was Blessed he is the best he is in his last year of college and has worked since 17 he’s very self sufficient thank God
