  • Friends, let me start the uploads of 2024 with another live concert recording. Having been one of the few live stage concerts in 2021, this concert at the Kampa Theatre in Prague was indeed special.
Since the pandemic situation did not allow a bigger number of live audience, the concert was live streamed simultaneously to the worldwide audience. Uniting the best of the on- and offline world, while having the inspiration of playing for a live audience.
Enjoy the second half of this musical evening with Raga Shankara, a beautiful evening Raga, that is portraying Lord Shiva as the auspicious ‘giver of bliss’.
Balázs Virágh provides a wonderful accompaniment on the Pakhawaj in the composition set in Dhamar Taal. Eva Hlinková supported us with much devotion on the Tanpura and whatever was needed behind the stage. 🙏🏼
Thanks last not least to Sasha, the tireless Sargam head and the whole Kampa team for not giving up or in to make this special concert happening in the most challenging situation.
For those who want to listen to the concert with the complete introductions, you can find the stream on the CZcams channel of the Kampa Theatre.

Always a pleasure and blessing to know you among the listeners, dear Estelle. As playing needs to develop continuesly its perfection, listening also knows so many levels of perception and receptivity. Only a few develop it on such a sublime level, that the sound of the Veena gives them this Ananda you experience 🎶🕉️🪷🙏🏼

Carsten-ji, a unique way of holding the veena. Mix of ZM Dagar + traditional way perhaps?

You are not so wrong with your guess. Coming from the traditional playing style I too had to adopt the lower holding position with the bigger instruments.
This position is basically copied from the Sarasvati Veena playing. But you can feel in many ways that it not a perfect way to hold and play the Rudra Veena. As it was simple not designed for this style of assana.
So we try and change, whatever serves the playing best.

@@RudraVeena thank you for the explanation. Beautiful rendition of my favorite raag. One feels it was created for this instrument!

This rendition of Raga Shankara is too much Bihagish.
