    That's where the usual "I dress like a bat to put fear into the heart of my enemies" starts to make real sense. Batman is supposed to be an horror story, almost an urban legend, criminals tell to scare each other, something they can't even believe in until they see him with their own eyes. If I was a criminal and I see that shit coming after me and survive, I would shit my pants and never commit any crime after that.

He praised the film’s portrayal of Batman as an unusually intimidating force befitting that of the supernatural horror genre instead of a traditionally heroic portrayal. That description fits only two scenes in the Ultimate Edition and only one in the theatrical cut. That one common scene is Batman’s introduction. He’s comparing Batman’s introduction here to the ones he remembers seeing. It’s a *good* thing. Go easy on people who *don’t* pick fights, will ya? Mine will not change, yours will not either, but let's also talk facts. DC is a multiverse, and there are plenty of versions of Batman being sick of fighting crime after loosing people he loved(does it sound familiar to you?). He started acting like this after that. But, in A Lonely Place Of Dying, Batman starts to push people away and also turns to technically self harm himself as punishment for losing Jason. *This* is what Batman would do after losing people he loved. He didn't brand anyone. He still kept on superheroing. Because Batman hates himself and so he attacks himself whenever he finds an error or fails or whatever. And this scene is no different, it’s been done to death at this point to where I have no desire to watch another take on Batman. Say what you want about Phase 4, but you can’t deny that it has done a great job at introducing new characters like Namor, Man-Thing, America Chavez, U.S Agent, Sylvie, other Loki variants, Ms. Marvel, Yelena, Kate Bishop, Ironheart, Moon Knight, Shang-Chi (my boi), and the list goes on. People seem to forget that Batman has been at this for 20 years. He’s lost a Robin, watched criminals go to prison and come back doing the same thing and now there’s a god-like figure one city over. Him branding criminals, definitely murdering people, and being hell bent on killing Superman was part of his arc of returning to why he became Batman in the first place. CinemaWins goes into more depth on what his arc is (highly recommend that channel)

      @Jayden Olson I don't know if it was ever stated directly, but going by the comics and the fact that Nightwing and Oracle don't exist (at the moment), Jason is most likely the one who died. Now that I think about it, Batman was turning into Red Hood throughout the movie. He was willing to kill, being excessively brutal, even fine with going up against a god among men on the chance that he could destroy the world if he snapped

    • @moviehermit5631
      @moviehermit5631 Před 4 lety +9

      @Jayden Olson Agreed. Although I wish they cut back on him making jokes, along with having more of a presence around the other members that put hm on equal footing regardless of his lack of powers (e.g. _"do_ you talk to fish?")
      Hopefully if we do see Red hood, they delve into his feelings of betrayal and seeing how throwing criminals in jail isn't enough. There could be an awesome scene where Bruce can sympathize and understand that perspective. He could reflect on his past actions to try and help Jason come back home. It would almost be like Bruce seeing a reflection of what he was in BvS, and try to truly make up for what happened to Jason as well as all he did in his rampage on crime.

    Batman in the movies has always been a guy who has been *stated* to strike fear into the hearts of the criminals in the city and is believed to be a supernatural entity . This is the first movie where you actually get to see that and get a sense of how intimidating Batman is . This is the first film where Batman's introductory scene is entirely by the POV of the naive police officer . We are just as clueless as he is and the camerawork is so effective that we seem to be following him along and as Batman is above him , we feel terrified for him and realize how powerless he is . He almost seems like a vampire from the office's perspective . He climbs across the wall and runs away faster than the blink of an eye and genuinely feels supernatural . Say whatever you wan to about Zack Snyder , but as a DCEU and MCU fan both , he easily has the best cinematography and the most distinct visual flairs . This is easily the most memorable introduction of Batman in a film besides perhaps Nolan's in Batman Begins but for entirely different reasons . We saw his intro in Batman Begins from his perspective and so appeared heroic but from the perspective of criminals and even police officers , he is a monster .

      @@revolverocelot1380 I agree. Though how i see it, since rob's batman is in his 2nd year of the dark knight, and maybe a younger Bruce, I can kinda get an understanding he's not quite at that point of being a Terrifying hero to everyone. Like you said, I think some see him more as some vigilante freak than a nightmare. He strikes fear to the lower level bad guys at least. Which is still badass for that intro. But batfleck, I think since it's focused more on a stealth and fast but menacing Bruce with more knowledge on advanced technology, it seems he knows what to do and has more experience in agility/combat. Safe to say anyone near him is pretty much screwed. But at the end of the day both the director and actor did a great job portraying batman. Matt reeves showing more of batman's detective side, with Robert's acting showing a Batman who's still not used to being a Wayne, and questioning his morality between hope and fear, fighting more brutally. As for Zack Snyder and Ben giving a more terrifying depiction of batman, him literally in the shadows hanging on the wall like a bat, striking fear not only on criminals but the law as well. This batman is able to move out fast and fight his way out strategically. (Also apologies if my English was iffy)
