I had a girlhood infatuation with Tony Dow when I was about 10 years old. I wanted him to be MY big brother as I had no brothers. He came to my city acting in a play in the late 60’s (West Side Story) and my mom took me. After the performance, Tony was signing autographs on stage at a table. My mom encouraged me to get an autograph so up on stage I went. I found myself standing RIGHT IN FRONT OF TONY DOW. My legs shook, my eyes filled with tears. I handed him my playbill and he spoke softly to me and smiled warmly when he handed my playbill back to me. What a sweet man. RIP Tony. ❤️
What a thrill!!! I could just tell he was a kind person. I watched it from the start. He was my favorite character because he wasnt a wise guy on the show! ❤️❤️❤️
I loved the show as a kid. Everyone thought he was the brother everyone wished they had. Watching him over the years and how he was the guy everyone liked and looked to is refreshing to know he was the person throughout his life unchanged and still the man, people wished they could be and know. He will be missed.
I had the honor of meeting Tony twice when he was at a friends art gallery. The first time was a meet and greet sort of thing. The second time was at an exhibit after everyone had left. We talked about several of his sculptures for about 30 minutes. He was incredibly warm and down to earth. I was so sad to hear of his passing. He was so talented as an actor, director and an artist.

I didn't personally know Tony but we had mutual friends, one of them being Paul Petersen from the Donna Reed Show, who was very close with Tony. But I do have one memory of him hanging out with a friend and working on classic cars and race cars. He loved tinkering under the hood until the motor just purred and then taking the car out for a spin. Everyone I know thought well of Tony and he truly did have a good head on his shoulders. Many commented how he helped them survive past their TV show cancellations and becoming civilians again, offering sage advice on how to change their perspectives. Always a champion for former child performers struggling with adulthood and the issues of being a "former."
This was definitely one of my favorite shows. Tony was so talented and kind. I’m so happy he had a beautiful marriage. Time goes by so fast and it’s been 1 year. So fast.

Tony Dow had one of the most recognizable voices, ever. I was watching an old episode of Dragnet last week, and the moment I heard “Hello,” off screen, I knew it was Tony!,
Tony really brought the Wally Cleaver character to life with very convincing acting. He was my favorite on a show full of very talented performers. I still watch LITB almost every day. My favorite episodes featuring Wally are when Wally gets his license, Wally buys a car, the one where he pours melted ice cream on Lumpys head and down Eddies sweater, and when he takes the movie ticket seller girl out on a date. There are others, but these are favorites. A good person both on and off the set. Rest in Peace Tony. Thanks for posting.

Another good episode was when Wally tried wearing the new hairstyle of the day. And even Beaver mimicked him! I loved all the episodes and the characters in Leave it to Beaver.
I was growing up in a dysfunctional home. At age 5 I started watching Leave It To Beaver, and I was so enamored by the characters, especially the dad. I remember crying, wishing I had parents like Ward Cleaver. I'm 67 now and I still watch the episodes. I'll never tire of it.
Agreed, my father was a mix of Andy Griffith, Fred McMurray, Father Knows Best and Ward Cleaver. The man my mother married was nothing like them, so I'm glad these men of sterling character were in front of us as role models
The world of Hollywood Television still had a great deal of innocence for families to enjoy without the worry of adult content. That was what Tony Dow and others shared every week with a hopeful outlook for audiences. That world doesn't exist anymore, unfortunately. Thank you, Tony Dow, for giving us the fans the real deal. 😮😢😊❤
I taped all 234 episodes on my VCR when they used to air on reruns here in Canada. A Sunday school teacher would borrow them to show as life lessons. It was a great show!
My favorite memory of Tony Dow was when he first reprised his role of Wally in Kentucky Fried Movie with the false Beaver beside him.The episode of Leave it to Beaver in which when they were being given rooms of their own and then when Bever got scared he then went into Wally's room and got into his bed beside him.
Tony Dow was a positive role model and mentor for the "older brother and younger brother relationship" in that television series. He protected his younger brother from Eddie Haskell, who was up to no good at times. That television series was all about family values with a touch of mischievous situations that were handled with exceptional care and respect for each other when scripted.
The Leave It To Beaver show I most identified with and remember, was the episode when Wally decided he was old enough to buy his own suit by himself. And came home with a suit that looked and fitted very badly. His father going back to the men’s shop with him to exchange it reminded me of the time I bought a sports jacket and my mother immediately voiced her disapproval and the next day the jacket went back. But my mother just wanted my money back after she told the owner without mercy what she thought of the jacket! Poor Guy! Best Regards, Richard
tony was the best character on leave it to beaver , big brother protecting goofy beaver and he never feared the neighborhood bullies , his script lines were hilarious , wonderful show ! ! !
My favorite episode of "Leave it to Beaver" has to be the one where Ward is fuming mad at Wally and Beav because he discovered they had secretly withdrawn a sizable amount of money from their bank accounts. Then he gets the surprise of his life when he discovers that the boys hadn't drawn the money out for themselves, but had used it to purchase him [Ward] a brand new hunting jacket.
I met both Tony and Jerry at a "Chiller Theatre" autograph show about 10 years ago. Both a pleasure to speak with, both very down to Earth. I feel better for having met both of them. RIP Tony, Hugh, Barbara, Frank, and, of course, Ken "Eddie Haskell" Osmond.
I meet Tony Dow back in 2019 in Los Angeles. He signed a picture of himself for me. He was with his wife and Jerry Mathers. I also got a picture of Jerry Mathers that he signed for me. I was so sad 😢 when I heard that Tony Dow had died. It has been one year and it still hurts me. 😢😢 😢 My favorite episode is when Wally gives Beaver a haircut. This one is so funny. I grew up watching Leave it to Beaver. I can still see it on TV they show reruns.
Thank you so much for sharing your life story. We are very happy to know that you had a chance to meet Tony and even got his signed photo! Be safe and have a great evening ❤❤
Tony and his wife had their account at Security Pacific Bank, Pacifc Palisades in 1981 when I worked there. He and his lovely wife at the time were living on Catalina Island which I don't believe is mentioend here. One could not ask for sweeter non pretentious, "ordinar" people in their life. Both were just wonderful and knew me by name, many times chatting extensiviely as they came in so often. He did not mind talking about the show. Mind you I was not a show "geek" ( asking him specific questions about episode #;s, etc.) but a fan. Met Jerry too many times. Good video.
The Beav', Tony, Ward and June, Eddie Haskell, the whole bunch...I loved them all. Must have seen every last episode over time. Tony 'Cleaver' was a nice-looking, down-to-earth, wholesome teen-age kid; a heart-throb to millions of young girls of the time. "Leave It To Beaver' brings nothing but 'good feelings' of my growing up days. For sure, it was a different world then. And to that, I say...Thanks!
My favorite episode of LITB is "Untogetherness". Kind of showcases Wally. The Cleavers are planning a family vacation. Wally wants to stay home this summer because he has a new love.❤ She ends up going on vacation with her own family. The whole family didn't really want to go without him, and in the end, he goes with them.
I have been a Leave it to Beaver fan for a long time. I love watching the shows over and over again. We need more shows like them. May they always be available for years to come!
I grew up watching Leave it to Beaver and can recall when it was on prime time when I was really young....one of my first TV memories. My favorite episode , and the episode I remember when LITB was still on at night time, was the one where Beaver had climbed up on a billboard at night that had the lady holding a can of soup. Beaver got stuck in the soup can. They had great billboards back then !
Wally always had a way of wisecracking a Beaver situation, often to the dismay of both Ward and June. Kind of a character trademark. I'm impressed by the fact that even in his advanced years he still had a youthful look that very much resembled that of his LITB (Litbee?) years. May he, June, Ward, Eddie and Lumpy rest eternally in blissful peace. They all did a heck of a job here on earth -- pleasing the rest of us.
Always liked the way Dow portrayed Wally. Best episodes- in the early episodes Wally and beaver are supposed to put their money in a school savings account and instead spend the money on Ward purchasing him an expensive hunting jacket. When June tells Ward to take off the jacket because it’s warm in the house, he states he is comfortable and keeps the coat on. Makes you feel good knowing how Ward must have felt and the boys knew instinctively what they did, also the episode where Wally takes Julie Foster to the White Fox restaurant and forgets his wallet and Ward calls the restaurant to set Wally up as a big shot, allowing him to sign for the meal. The waiter played off Wally’s confused look perfectly and Julie thinks Wally a real man of the world. Cheryl Holdridge was stunning in her beauty, Wally was a lucky guy but decided on Mary Ellen Rodgers in the long run god knowsxwhy
Tony was a stand-up guy. Kept his thing in his pants. He had many opportunities but walked away. He was a true gentleman. Good tipper, kind to the less famous. That whole broke the mold thing was coined after him. Loved his wife, kids, grandkids, and a dedicated friend. Yes, he is missed.
I loved watching reruns of leave it to beaver. When I was a kid back in the 70’s after school me and my sis would watch Batman, Gilligans island, the Munsters and leave it to beaver. My favorite episode was when Wally and beaver left the water in the bathtub on too long and it overflowed. They used all kinds of towels to dry everything and when a neighbor came over and saw all the wet towels Wally said, motioning to Beaver, he’s hard to dry! Too funny!
Tony Dow💕 So many admirable qualities friend being one and a good husband. I watch the show still because it is my all time favorite. They had something other shows didn’t. The left out a timeline because they the writers wanted it to be for all time. They got that wish. The cast stayed close as they had an unbreakable bond. Though Tony had no acting experience he was a natural they gave him some great lines and he nailed them.
I was fortunate to meet Tony Dow, when I was stationed at FT. Leonardtown MO. in 1967. He was a real down to earth person. He told me alot about " Leave it to Beaver " sitcom. RIP Tony Dow, hope to meet you in the next life.
He will be missed forever I thought the world of him on the show Leave It to Beaver he was a handsome man my prayers are with the family God bless his soul
I loved leave it to beaver it's on me TV my favorite episode is the one wally is working in a soda fountain it was a good show Tony dow will be missed good video Vickie napa california
Tony (as Wally) always had these half-kid, half-adult explanations for everything to do with life and ' the Beavs. He, Wally, really held the show together. As the youngest in my family I would have loved to have Wally as an older brother
I love Tony Dowd and Leave it to Beaver I don't have a favorite episode but let me just say I think he was a wonderful actor and a wonderful person and a wonderful parent God bless Tony Dow💜❤🙂
I think of Lauren often, and am pained at how empty the house must seem. Lauren and Tony were neighbors in Venice Beach and came to brunch in 1984 during the Olympics. We lived right up the street from where the marathon would run. Lots of great characters in that neighborhood. One of my best memories.
When you're son says the beautiful things about his Father, you know all through Tonys life, he was there for him. 45 years and still in love is amazing!
I love watching Leave It to Beaver when I was a kid. I kind of had a crush on the dude!❤ Remembrance rest in peace Tony Dow... you will never be forgotten Wally!❤
I would see Tony and his wife many times while riding the Catalina Express boats back and forth between Catalina and Long Beach/San Pedro terminals. His family had a residence on the island. I would be visiting my grandmother (106) and my aunt (86) who also lived on the island for almost 40 years. Always wanted to chat with them on the boat, but decided not to interrupt their privacy. He was one of my heroes in the Leave it to Beaver days, at that time I also had a younger brother about the same age as the Beaver. My brother was always getting me in trouble also! Only once in a while it might have been my fault, maybe………
Tony and I were about the same age. I admired him and I was jealous of him because he preoccupied all the girls over on Catalina Island when I was there. I wanted to be famous too!
I still watch. I'm the same age. It's disappointing how many of the "kid" actors are now gone. I'll always be a fan. Tho, I would never fit in; I didn't even own a tie back then. 😎
I liked a lot of the later season episodes that focused on Wally, as he was actually allowed to grow into an adult, while Beaver was still acting like a dopey kid! Wally got his drivers license and car, dated a number of girls (notably Mary Ellen Rogers and Julie Foster) and held down a number of jobs as well. The entire cast did a great job, but to me, Tony Dow's performance stood out and he was "the heart" of the show. RIP to Tony Dow, Ken Osmond, Frank Bank, Barbara Billingsley, Hugh Beaumont, Stanley Fafara, Cheryl Holdridge, Sue Randall, Diane Brewster, Richard Deacon and all the others who have passed away.
I saw Tony at Catalina Island he was talking to one of his friends I I was too shy to walk up to him and introduce myself to him letting him know how much I enjoyed leave it to Beaver it must have been to 2 or just staring and it's natural
Thats the only times I would see him also, at Catalina while I’d be visiting my grandmother and aunt that lived there full time. I’d always see Tony and his wife while we all were all communicating to or from the island. I’m just like you, as I probably seen them 30-40 times over the years. I wanted sooooooo much to speak with them, but decided it wouldn’t be very proper. They were always reading a book or sleeping while the vibes from the engines would put me to sleep also. Miss Tony and the island tremendously nowadays. They don’t make actors like him anymore…………
My most memorable episode of LITB was when Wally's mother fixed him up on a blind date but didn't tell him. Wally was furious and Tony Dow really amped it up, trying to reach up toward the father's height, while hollering. First it was his mother then he turned upon his father. I'd never seen Wally so ticked off. I smile whenever I think of it.
I was born in 1949 so I'm just a few months younger than 'The Beaver', Jerry Mathers. I grew up watching and loving 'Leave it to Beaver', and still watch on occasion. I have all the episodes on DVD, and my all-time favorite is, "Wally's Practical Joke". When Wally, Eddie, and Lumpy were more involved in the show toward the end of it's run, 1962-'63, is when it was best for me. I loved the teenage hi-jinks that went on between those three characters. Tony Dow was correct. When we were growing up in the late 1950s and early '60s there wasn't much talk at all about drugs, guns, etc. Our lives revolved more around girls, cars, music and just having a good time without having to look into drugs, drink, or crime to find it.
Wow Tony only received FOUR YEARS of residuals after all those Years of hard work acting. Now You know why all the other actors are on strike in Hollywood right now. Loved the show grew up with it but Tony definitely deserved better.
I NEVER liked the Show "Leave It To Beaver," but I ALWAYS LIKED Tony Dow!!!! He ALWAYS seemed like such a "Gentle Soul," and APPARENTLY he was. Rest In Eternal Peace Tony.
Growing up with Leave it to Beaver, to me what made Wally such a great character was that Tony played him so genuinely believable. He was the brother and friend any kid would love. He was humble, caring and had values we all aspired to have. I’ve seen videos of him touring his house and artwork. He seemed truly happy. In the mostly depraved Hollywood of today, sadly too many like Tony Dow are leaving us with memories today’s generation will never have.
The Haircut Season 1 when Wally tried helping Beaver improve the haircut beaver attempted on himself! It is my VERY favorite. Me and my sons at the time almost died laughing! 🤣🤣🤣

I miss Tony Dow and will never forget him. May he rest in peace.
His father going back to the men’s shop with him to exchange it
reminded me of the time I bought a sports jacket and my mother immediately voiced her disapproval and the next day the jacket went back.
But my mother just wanted my money back after she told the owner without mercy what she thought of the jacket! Poor Guy!
Best Regards,
Richard
tony was the best character on leave it to beaver , big brother protecting goofy beaver and he never feared the neighborhood bullies , his script lines were hilarious , wonderful show ! ! !
I am sad to hear of Tony’s passing😢 Till this date I still enjoy watching Leave it to Beaver
Tony Dow was, and is a classic actor.
TONY DOW will forever Live in our hearts as wally cleaver.
Well said, we strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. What other types of video would you like to see?
Loved Beaver! Tony Dow and Beaver were my brother and me in those times. So good! So sad with Tony’s passing!
I have one of his pieces of sculpture. He was a fine artist. Still watch Beaver every day.
We're happy to know that you're a fan of the show. In your opinion, what is its best episode?
Tony and his wife had their account at Security Pacific Bank, Pacifc Palisades in 1981 when I worked there. He and his lovely wife at the time were living on Catalina Island which I don't believe is mentioend here. One could not ask for sweeter non pretentious, "ordinar" people in their life. Both were just wonderful and knew me by name, many times chatting extensiviely as they came in so often. He did not mind talking about the show. Mind you I was not a show "geek" ( asking him specific questions about episode #;s, etc.) but a fan. Met Jerry too many times. Good video.
He was a great person …I met him one time 👍. A total humble smart gentleman 😊
One of our favorites too, you've got taste! What other types of video would you like to see?
I have been a Leave it to Beaver fan for a long time. I love watching the shows over and over again. We need more shows like them. May they always be available for years to come!
❤❤may he rest in peace. Grew up watching leave it to beaver and I still watch all the reruns as of today. He will be missed. Az
My favorite episode is when he took Julie Foster to the White Fox restaurant.
We're happy to know that you're a fan of the show. In your opinion, what is its best episode?
@@FactsVerse I just told you. Thanks.
Tony had two things, Million dollar looks and attitude.
Thanks for sharing loved the show
You're very much welcome! We're glad to know that you love our video. If we may ask, what other types of video would you like to see on Facts Verse?
RIP. Mr. Dow, I grew up watching that show, and it taught me things as a child, thank you!🙏
I loved watching reruns of leave it to beaver.

Loved this show. Really was truly a favorite. Great actor.
I still love and watch the show everyday 💖
We lost a great one, Tony Dow. So sad that he's gone. 😢
The episode when Tony tried to fix his nose with a dumb contraption that could get rid of his “ pig” like feature. Classic!
Yes, it really was 🤣
One of our favorites too, you've got taste! Which episode comes in at second place?
PUG NOT PIG Just cause that girl said something to him about his nose!!!
I Love Tony In everything he did. He was a beautiful soul that left us too soon.😢❤
Yes, remember his passing what a great Series...prayers and praises..🙏💖🙏
He will be missed forever I thought the world of him on the show Leave It to Beaver he was a handsome man my prayers are with the family God bless his soul
I loved leave it to beaver it's on me TV my favorite episode is the one wally is working in a soda fountain it was a good show Tony dow will be missed good video Vickie napa california
One of our favorites too, you've got taste! What other types of video would you like to see?
Tony (as Wally) always had these half-kid, half-adult explanations for everything to do with life and ' the Beavs.
He, Wally, really held the show together.
As the youngest in my family I would have loved to have Wally as an older brother
I love Tony Dowd and Leave it to Beaver I don't have a favorite episode but let me just say I think he was a wonderful actor and a wonderful person and a wonderful parent God bless Tony Dow💜❤🙂
My husband and I our favorite episode was Wallys first car. God bless you Tony Dow.
I love that show I know they all were tired of not having a teenager's life but I would have loved seeing wally in college and beaver in high-school
We're happy to know that you're a fan of the show. In your opinion, what is its best episode?
Rest In Peace🙏🤍🕊🙏♥️
We miss Tony. What other types of video would you like to see?
We're happy to know that you're a fan of the show. In your opinion, what is its best episode?
Fun stuff, thanks for sharing! May Tony find peace. What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
I still watch. I'm the same age. It's disappointing how many of the "kid" actors are now gone. I'll always be a fan. Tho, I would never fit in; I didn't even own a tie back then. 😎
We're happy to know that you're a fan of the show. In your opinion, what is its best episode?
@@FactsVerse Hi. Beaver's short pants; the channel I watch - we're in Season 1 again! 👍
A decent guy. RIP Tony.
I saw Tony at Catalina Island he was talking to one of his friends I I was too shy to walk up to him and introduce myself to him letting him know how much I enjoyed leave it to Beaver it must have been to 2 or just staring and it's natural
Thank you so much for sharing your life story! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
I love the show where Beaver dyes his hair black and comes to diner.Wally tries not to laugh but becomes historical when he can't stop laughing😂😂
Rest in peace Mr. Dow.
Tony was in Never Too Young. A teen soap opera in the 60's. It got replaced by Dark Shadows.
Devastated when I heard the news😭
I have a full series DVD collection of every show from 1st to last show, I love them all. I grew up with this kind of programming.
Wally was always my favorite character on the show, loved it, pure innocent fun in a much better America.
My Mom had a crush on him and he is a year younger than my mom. He was born the same year is ma Dad was.
Fun stuff, thanks for sharing! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
The Haircut Season 1 when Wally tried helping Beaver improve the haircut beaver attempted on himself! It is my VERY favorite. Me and my sons at the time almost died laughing! 🤣🤣🤣
