    Thank you for providing much needed information. I was not sure how to relieve tension in the torsion bars on my 2002 Chevy Blazer safely. This seems to be the right way to do it. I've seen it done by lowering a jack but I was concerned I wouldn't be able to get the same tension back on top of the obvious safety problems. This makes the first idea seem so dumb; it's literally just a bolt.

    Hi great video. Can you advise on when putting the lifting kit on. Do i have to measure the bolt length on the old keys still..? For the new altered keys. To go in. Or just alter them yo suit.

    do the torsion bars go back in a specific way? I pull mine out and I couldn’t get the key angle to match. I just did my best and I did get it aligned. I added some weight to the front end and now Im considering adjusting the key a little more to level out my truck. Im think one or two turns should be enough. Any tips?

    great video wondering if the height adjustment affected the camber

    • @iroc464
      @iroc464 Před 2 lety +4

      Yes in fact does. As with any SLA(short-long arm) A-arm style suspension. You get camber gain as well as bump steer in most cases. So in theory lifting the suspension ride height will add some negative camber and some toe-in and will require alignment.

    1:42 says “make sure to unload the front suspension prior to the release of the torsion bar”. Does that mean front of vehicle should be lifted?

      Got my answer. Just finished changing the upper and lower balljoints on my Yukon. I just measured and marked the distance of the torsion bolt to the plate and backed out the bolt (did not remove completely). That was sufficient to remove the tension and I got the job done!

    • @DonBMW
      @DonBMW Před 2 lety +1

      Of course before I backed out the bolt, i lifted the front of the vehicle and secured it w jackstands.

    Can you explain the benefits of lifting with new torsion keys vs cranking down the adjustment bolt on the stock keys?

    • @bassdaze
      @bassdaze Před 2 lety +7

      If you crank your stock keys to lift front end your truck will ride like a mule... I've had my keys cranked for 10 years now and finally bought some leveling keys. With oversized keys you won't have as much tension and front end will ride more like stock

    • @truckerman9836

      I was wondering the same.

    • @Nikkk6969
      @Nikkk6969 Před 2 lety +1

      Exactly, stock key or not they both put enough tension on the bar to lift your front end to your desire so it doesn’t really make sense why changing just the keys is worth it. I don’t get it either

    • @theepoxyninja2249
      @theepoxyninja2249 Před 2 lety +2

      @@Nikkk6969 well thats because you dont understand suspension.If you crank your bars, youll run through ball joints much faster and thw truck will ride like garbage. The keys are at a different angle so ot helps lift the front end without having to crank the bars. The lift keys are the correct way to do it

    • @Nikkk6969
      @Nikkk6969 Před 2 lety +3

      @@theepoxyninja2249 not sure if you think you understand suspension better or not, but the torsion bars are still cranked with aftermarket keys if you’re going after a lift. It’s literally the same thing, you’re still using the bars to lift the front end. The better “angle” you’re probably talking about with aftermarket keys is meaning you’re truck will be lifted higher than the the stock ones, which in turn will go through ball joints and CVs faster, are you that salesman who’s trying to scam people out of their money? Who you working for??

A clean, detailed and concise script can dramatically shorten the length of a video, as well as engage the audience. Not exactly true and I’ll help you look at it from another point of view 😁 I for example am well versed in what I do as a tech, but if you stand over my shoulder, I get performance anxiety and just blank out. I’m still a professional. Or, it could just be the way he talks. I know someone that says “gotcha gotcha” as a knee jerk reaction for everything you say. Also know some who says umm before they start any sentence 😊

    • @shuntawolf
      @shuntawolf Před rokem

      @@GirlsNDragons As an instructor who has been educated on BEING an instructor, it's one of the first things they talk about. I get the performance anxiety, but, in the Methodology class I took, the instructor would randomly walk through the class and either hand a student an item or just pick one from the students desk or ask if they had something in their pocket, then they'd say "Ok, in 1 minute you're going to give a 5 minute lesson on THIS"... and he'd gig you for every Umm Ahhh Errr you did. It's amazing really that we do it almost subconsciously and if you begin to listen to someone giving you instructions on something, or someone like this vid telling you about something, you'll begin to understand. Folks who are very well versed in their subject matter, who've thought it out before hand won't use those enunciations or will use them very little, perhaps only when someone asks a question about it and they have to think for a minute about their answer. Sometimes all it takes is taking a breath before answering to eliminate the ummms and ahhhs...
      As I originally said, it's a great vid, he just needs to take a bit more time on speaking about the subject matter and gain more confidence about speaking about it. If you watch Cutting Edge Engineering on here you'll see how Curtis' edited vids are great, then wait till the end when Karen puts up the outtakes and you'll see how bad he flubs things up as they're making the vids...
