I really want them remade to include all the cut content they couldn't add for budget and time constraints.
I'd love to see other dragons (besides the eight we have) and villages across the world instead of limiting you to so few locations.
And I'm not sure where I heard it, but apparently The Legend of Spyro was supposed to have six games, but they stopped at three due to low sales.

THIS IS AMAZIIIIIING!!!! oh my God yes. you've pretty much nailed it all. there is in fact a war between two opposing forces and the evil force bring in this enormous Golem made of molten earth and uses parts of the city called Dragon city to reform its body. and you as a small dragon compared to this beast are first fighting this thing as it climbs up a tower, first though gaping holes in the structure and then finally literally face to face at the top of this broken tower. and the drums and symbols are the golem slamming its fists at you and breathing fire trying to get rid of you.
and the lyrics very much describe the dark war scene in this game.
this is the last game in the Legend of Spyro trilogy which is a more mature and story driven take on the Spyro the Dragon. honestly and fantastic trilogy of games and with amazing music and themes. I will suggest a theme from the previous game The Eternal Night at a later date. ohhh this is exciting. I love your take on this music. thank you for this Marco.

If you wanna check out more from the Legend of Spyro trilogy, from this same game (Dawn of the Dragon) I REALLY like Malefor Battle (1). the song that plays during phase one of the final boss fight. I think it does a PHENOMINAL job at selling the emotional/story stakes that are currently going on.
and in case you're curious what those stakes hare:
The end of the world is LITERALLY already in progress. Chunks of earth are splitting apart and spewing geysers of lava, the world is fragmenting and shattering apart and already being destroyed. The villain has ALREADY won, plotwise...and you're just fighting for the chance to even TRY and figure out how to undo the world-ending that is CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS.
and even after all that, after you take the boss down....the way you end up winning and stopping the end of the world? is (heavily implied to be, but never stated bluntly) your two main characters sacrificing their own life force. Every bit of their own power to not just die, but put themselves into a PURGATORY of just them two in order to put the world back together by sacrificing their own life force.
(And for those who have played the game, I've read interviews and stuff that yes this is meant to be implied, since we see Spyro and Cynder flying over a much fuzzier looking Avalar, and the Chronicler who...literally chronicles everything that happens, including if say, somebody DIES, cannot find Spyro and Cynder. So...they aren't alive, but they didn't die. purgatory.)

I mean I think it's the Spiritual Plane, Celestial Caves is Metaphysical and Ignitus is still a Spirit but just appears physical in that place which helps prove the idea you can only see spirits physical if they're in a Spiritual place and CC is legit like the Spirit World but also is just a mortal location hence Metaphysical.

    • @waveeyes
      @waveeyes Před měsícem

Also worth noting. Cynder didn't "have to" sacrifice herself and Spyro even told her to escape and save herself. But she chose to stay by his side to the end, and with what she presumably believed to be her final breath told him "I love you." (that scene gives me chills every time).
That sentiment is then echoed in _Guide You Home_ where both she and Spyro sings "I would die for you.".

You have no idea how happy I am to hear someone breaking down the Latin lyrics and the musical qualities, I've been wondering about them ever since the Cynder Convexity battle music from the first of the trilogy. If you haven't already heard those, pretty much every battle theme in this game is over the top epic and deep in meaning.
The games are so underrated, mostly because they were developed on a shoestring budget on Activision's leash, but the music, characterization, world building, such great stuff from such a horribly limited dev environment.

For context: Spyro and Cynder are in the Dragon City, trying to protect it while the forces of Malafor(?) attack the city relentlessly. Came here right after the video posted today. The Golem Encounter is a pretty awesome setpiece for how the thing is not defeated the first time you face it.
I should really explore this OST more like you are doing right now.
As a recommendation for other platformer OST's to explore -for videos or on your own time- , there's an ambitious old game by name of Haven: Call of the King. Especially noteworthy here are the main menu theme, a track called Into the Atmosphere, and a track that plays in the gladiator arena.
The Rayman series is no slouch on the front of great music either, though not so much on the orchestral front. That said, it is a M O N S T E R in terms of how many different styles, aestethics, feelings and emotions it employs with its tracks throughout all games.
Picture City in Rayman 1 has a few pieces involving classical instruments, such as in a Picture City track or the one that plays in a level with rising water. Nevermind the happy vibes of the first level theme.
But there's also cool rock pieces, mean bluesy bits and some chill tunes here and there. And that's just Rayman 1.
Rayman 2 leans more towards ambience and atmosphere with similar instruments, but Rayman 3 goes *ham*.
be prepared for the most terrifying and aggressive didgeridoo 'n drums that you'll ever hear with Reflux the Knaaren's theme. Yet, at the opposite end of the spectrum, there's the Fairy Council or the softer tracks from the Bog of Murk level.
Holy HECK those are sweet pieces.
And that's not all. Fuppin' funky disco AND what sounds like christmas-themed rock to accompany board segments, and most well-remembered of all: the Hoodoo theme. Which comes in two versions apparently, one version playing during the end credits.
Oh, and there's also Voodoo Vince. You like Jazz? Vince got Jazz.
If you ever find yourself interested in hearing these tracks, i wish you a lot of fun and enjoyment with them!

The golem in question is attacking the city, which is the last defensible outpost against the forces of the Dark Dragon Malefor. It's a boss fight at the mid-point of the game, one that's been built up from the beginning of the game with Spyro and Cynder having spent the entirety of the game's first level fleeing from it while also having to learn to work together courtesy of being magically tethered to each other.

Have you done anything with the OG Spyro trilogy with Stewart Copeland’s music? I was hoping this was that, haha.

Can you please cover Unwavering Belief from Lost Judgement?

I mean, if you started with spyro you can easily continue to follow imsomniac game's work with ratchet and clank

Any tracks you'd recommend for Marco to react to? Trap Team is fun with its playable villain themes -a number of them, anyway- but not particularly in-depth or very long.
(Ain't nobody got anything on Chill Bill's theme, though.)

@@jurtheorc8117 Personally I love exploring the ruins from SSA, water zone music, a lot of the upbeat Superchargers music, and lots more, it's impossible to name all my favorites! :p

If you ever do the original trilogy, don't do the "Reignited" (remake) version. Or you could actively compare the two. Many fans of the OG games agree that the remake is devoid of soul and whatever else made the music unique - and it was, for its time, extremely unique and high quality. Stewart Copeland (from The Police) composed it! A good example of how the remake lost its soul would be the Hurricos theme.
