  • Want to learn EVPN, first lets understand why you should learn it
    This is the first session in the series where we will understand why we need to learn EVPN. if you are some one working in Data Center, Enterprise or Service provider, EVPN is the way to go for control plane with robust evolving list of data planes like VXLAN, MPLS, SRv6. Lets find out more in our EVPN Basics to Advance series session 1.

    Wow the way you unpacked this topic is amazing, you went back to give context on why these technologies were introduced and I want to believe that this is the best approach in explaining such a very hard and complicated topic within the network space right not. I have 20 years experience on enterprise and service provider networks. But this has been a very difficult topic to grasp for me, so thank u so much for the video.

    Thanks a lot, Sunil, you amazingly put up the whole network transformation shift and helped me understand a lot of the new technologies why and when they were introduced, solving what problem, and in what sectors.

    The comparison between BGP and the Security Guy is one of the best examples I've ever seen in my life to illustrate how does BGP work in EVPN. Just amazing.

    hi sir..what is the advantages of evpn sr over evpn mpls?

    • @emergingtechbytes
      @emergingtechbytes  Před 10 měsíci

      Thanks for your query. I am sorry but this is not the right question to ask. SR (Segment Routing) can work with two data plane options - MPLS (SR-MPLS) and IPv6 (SRv6). Segment routing is a control plane tech which offers you multiple data plane options as i said. Likewise, EVPN in the control plane can also run with MPLS in data plane or IP (VXLAN) in the data plane. EVPN in control plane with IPv6 in the data plane is coming as well. not sure if this clarify your doubt or not.

      @@emergingtechbytesu said in the talk that evpn vxlan,evpn mpls and evpn srv6..there i got confused...anyway with evpn mpls dataplane is mpls label..even with sr data plane should be mpls label...am i missing here something sir?

    @saifu62 Před 10 měsíci

    Right at 18:12 you said there were some issues in Vxlan flood and learn case that lend place to Evpn bgp as a solution .. can we talk what issues

    • @emergingtechbytes
      @emergingtechbytes  Před 10 měsíci

      Hello Saifu, Thanks for your query. initially Vxlan was implemented without any control plane protocol and relies on same flood and learn mechanism for layer 2. Host 1 and Host 2 being in the same subnet but connected to different switches over VXLan, when host 1 pings host 2, ingress vtep will flood this as host 2 MAC address is not known yet. so due to this flooding, that message will go to all the switches part of that VXLan segment. EVPN solve this by telling ingress switch that host 2 is being switch 2 so no flooding here. Hope this helps.
