- Its another year and the WWE Draft is back, the WWE is about to get shaken up, with wrestlers moving shows, new feuds being created and possibly old feuds being rekindled. It is one of the most exciting times of the year for wrestling fans. As someone who grew up in the 2000s, and as someone who grew up watching WWE Drafts, it is hard to explain how fun Draft nigh used to be as a kid watching WWE. So in celebration of the 2024 WWE Draft, I went back to the old drafts of our youth, and revisited the classic WWE Drafts!

Nah the difference maker it was getting jeff hardy on friday nights alone was historical. You gotta remember raw was still on cable and smackdown was on cw channel 23in 08. It literally meant the world to us young fans who didnt have cable 💯

i think that also had a huge impact on the draft back in the day, i also didnt have cable so it was a big deal to find out which superstars i was going to be able to watch on smackdown, nowadays both raw and smackdown are equally accessible with social media, streaming and youtube, part of that magic is gone
How about coming home from school on a Friday and getting excited for Friday night smackdown knowing you have no school the next day so you can stay up late, the good ole days I started watching wrestling in 2007 and I was 8 years old and I think I stopped around 2013 because it just didn’t feel the same anymore

I was at the Raw where Cena got drafted. The building popped off like we won the Iraq War. The complete stranger next to me and I hugged. One of my favorite memories ever.

The Ruthless Aggression drafts truly were some of the most hyped up, and shocking days in the WWE calendar. Seeing where our favorites would be, seeing if teams would break up or not, it was truly exciting every year. I truly hope tonight’s and future drafts under HHH will bring back the magic that we once had.🙏

The 2004 draft also led to one of my favorite put downs in WWE when at One Night Stand Heman told JBL "Only reason you're WWE champion is because Triple H didn't want to work Tuesdays"
Honestly the biggest problem with the draft and overall brand split nowadays is they just dont stick to it consistently as after a few weeks or months they just cross other brands and they at times dont put some effort in giving both brands there own distinct identity and feel like they did from 2002-2008
Exactly. If you tuned into Smackdown you knew you were getting the Smackdown 6, Brock Lesnar, Taker, and if you watched Raw you’d get guys like HHH, Shawn Michaels, and eventually Cena. The few times these guys did show up on the other brand or get drafted, it actually felt like a big deal
@@KingTruffles I couldnt agree more both shows provided their own product and it helped they had different creative teams. Smackdown was the Wrestling centric show with simpler storylines on free tv while Raw was the storyline driven show that tended to have the big stars on cable. It helped that they had their own brand exclusive ppvs and came together during the big 4 which felt big

2008 me was a massive CM Punk fan and was happy seeing him win the World Heavyweight Championship following the Draft by cashing in his MITB on Edge made me ever so happy. However, later that year, he was set to defend his title in a championship scramble match. He got ambushed by The Legacy then ate a punt kick from Orton where his spot was then replaced by Jericho in which he then won. Putting an unfair end to Punk’s title reign
I remember being so pissed when I found out the next Raw
That was awesome because it kick started mentally unstable Orton which led to him attacking Vince and getting the Rumble win and becoming the 2nd top star and one of the greatest of all time.
It was the start of the colapse of that Belt. One of the worst Champions ever
I hope they bring this randomiser back. It is all decided at the end of the day but that random superstar screen and the anticipation is way better than shouting out the name of the superstar drafted standing on a podium. For me at least

Smackdown was and is always my show. Never had premium cable to watch Raw while smackdown was on basic cable.

2004 draft ending was special felt like a true smackdown vs raw match, 05 is when the cena era started, 06 had the ecw invasion, 07 sadly was the end of the ruthless aggression due to the benoits tragedy

Dude my favorite draft is always the Draft after WrestleMania 20 when the Last pick was SmackDown GM Paul Heyman getting drafted by Eric Bischoff and the. Bischoff getting speared by a returning and (Steroid) jacked Edge.
Bro you just made me feel old mentioning Elijah Burke in this video even though I’m only 24 💀 but in all seriousness honestly feels like he was wrestling in WWE back in the day in the wrong time period what I mean by that is he would fit in more nowadays I think especially since he’s very stiff in the ring imagine him tearing it up with Gunther, Sheamus, McIntyre or even Dragunov all those guys work stiff/snug just like him.
The 2002 draft was exciting at the time. 13 year old me was stoked about it. Jericho, Triple H, and Steph were exempt from the draft because they competed in a handicap match for the Undisputed Championship that night. Triple H pinned Steph which meant she was outta the company. Watching her get carried off by security while the crowd sang “na na na na, hey hey hey goodbye” was priceless.🤣🤣🤣
I remember when Cena got drafted to Smackdown I said "Smackdown is my favorite show now because Cena is on it" and then he goes back to Raw on the same night so I said "Raw is my favorite show again because Cena is on it", most memorable draft moment for me

2005 draft was the best one. Elevated many careers. If the unfortunate incident didn't occur, I believe Muhammad Hassan's career would have taken off from there as well.

I grew up watching the ‘07-‘09 WWE drafts. Eventually watching less and less of the content. But the 2016 Draft holds and extremely special place in my heart. I remember my brother and I for the first time in years watched a full episode of a WWE show together. Plus the 2016 Rosters of wrestlers both Raw & SmackDown and even NXT were all stacked.

The timing of this video is awesome cause I literally just watched the 08 and 2010 draft episodes of Raw last night.
The WWE Draft mattered a lot to me cause as a kid, I couldn’t watch Raw since it came on past my bedtime. That John Cena going to SD then back to Raw was a spit in the face to me. I didn’t find it funny at all.

I was actually in the AT&T Center for the 2008 draft, and seeing my favorite wrestler (Jeff Hardy) get drafted to my favorite show (Smackdown) is a moment I don't think I'll ever forget. Honestly its the only thing I do remember from that night.

Man the world's Crazy,because I gotta say the 08 Draft,BECAUSE Summer Vacation was in full affect for me aswell and one of my best friends Ethan,who was also a Big WWE fan,spent the night and I remembered how excited and shocked and jaw dropped that draft was batista,Rey and Kane to raw,Jeff & HHH to smackdown..yeah I can still remember us sitting on the bedroom floor eating snacks and watching that draft. Second Favorite has gotta be the 09 Draft just because I was actually in attentendence for that one and it is fun in person

A couple of corrections for the video to help you out. Jericho wasn't drafted in the 02 draft because that night he had a title match. Him, Stephanie, and Triple H were all exempt from the draft. And ECW didn't draft Big Show in 06, he joined ECW at the special WWE vs. ECW event. The draft picks they made were Angle and RVD.
