CBS Mornings wants "women" to take health advice from a "woman" that was in drug rehab for a cocaine addiction at age 11? "Hollywood" is disgusting
Please shed more light on Hormonal Imbalance and Perimenopause. Many woman are suffering through it from age 20-50. Birth Control is instantly prescribed but education is key. Thank you for this episode.
THANK YOU for talking about this! I am in my 40s. This is an area that needs to be openly talked about so women know what to expect and the options they have. They can take that knowledge and make the best choice for themselves to manage their menopause. There is no reason why we should have to suffer through it.
I not only applaud what you are saying here but agree whole heartedly!🙂👏👏👏🤗
When Gayle said "crime scene," I guffawed. Been there and done that. Had so many issues that I bled every day for a whole year when I was 36. I had a hysterectomy and opted not to go on HRT. I have no regrets, but now at 58, a hot flash will still light me up every now and then. This was a very enlightening and necessary conversation.
This is an awesome series! We need more transparency and conversations around menopause!
Women in my family went through menopause later in age and had children well into their 40's. My grandmother was almost 50 when she had her last baby. Maybe do an episode on women in their 40's and 50's conceiving naturally
I love this. I started going through menopause at 48. I'm the only one of my friends going through this now. The symptoms kind caught me off guard. I really felt alone. I'm glad you ladies are raising awareness.
I’m 38 and going thru it …. I feel u
I applaud this conversation & I believe more conversation is needed about fertility. I’d like to see a conversation about how older women have children at age 48, 50, 55+. They make it seem like they naturally had a child & it might not be the case. Women need to be leaders in this area of conversation!
99% of the time it’s not natural
I question the validity of that. It's something I would ever consider myself because of the risks to both mother and child.
Outside of the Western world a woman getting pregnant naturally is not abnormal due to the fact birth control is not pushed.
TIll date there is no conclusive proof that women are born with all the eggs that they'll ever have.. please change this old paradigm thinking.. emerging research indicates the opposite.
My great grandmother had what they call a change your life baby at 48. Ish happens.
❤LO❤VE❤ - what an important conversation to have in the mainstream media. I’m a man and I grew up around women who were not afraid to have this conversation. It made me a more caring and empathic human.
I had periods lasting up to 8 weeks at a time every 3 to 4 months for five years. At the end of each cycle, I would have a really bad migraine followed by the worst hot flashes in the world and then mini-strokes. I saw more than 12 specialists, and no one could figure it out. I kept telling them that it had to be a hormone because only a hormone was like clockwork. They were finally going to give me a hormone pill when my cycle stopped. I've been just fine ever since.
What made it so bad is that doctors would not listen to me. Unfortunately, this happens a lot being female and especially being black. When we talked about how doctors just brush off our concerns, it's real
So grateful to see conversations like this! I suffer from PMDD. I've been through 3 gynecologist, because no one will deal with this! They say that it's a psychological issue and Psychiatrist say that it's a gynecologist issue. Something needs to be addressed regarding this 8% of women that struggle with this! It's unimaginable to the normal person, what we experience and go through, mentally and physically! I am a warrior in my eyes, for surviving it. PMDD is more prevelant in childhood sexual abuse victims.
I am pmdd too :(( I’m so sorry you have dealt with this it is absolutely debilitating, and it’s wild that many woman don’t deal with this. I was suicidal every month from about 15-30…. Till I removed alcohol and got therapy and help. I am now on Effexor and it’s actually helping so so much, I was really hesitant to use anti Ds but it’s honestly been a game changer, I know it’s not for everyone .. best of luck ❤
I like the way the summer everything up at the end. There are women like myself that have a horrible time of it. Along with the fact you will have people who will make you feel bad about it or laugh at you. I never got the support I needed. Luckily I was able to see an OB- GYN with the insurance I had that put me on HRT. It was a godsend for me. No woman should ever have to suffer the extreme symptoms of this when there's medication you can take. You also need a caring and understanding doctor who will listen and work with you. That isn't always so easy to find.
I am so grateful! Look forward to watching the other 2 instalments! I had almost no perimenopausal or menopausal symptoms, thank Godess ! I did experience infertility treatment in my early 40s - it was horrible. One thing that dawned on me at that time: all the years of conversations on responsible birth controll and STD prevention in doctor offices , brochures and articles ...no one question, sentence or word on fertility ! I thought I was an educated , well informed woman...not!
Finally! Thank you for this conversation, it’s SO important and SO NEEDED! The sexual/gynecological education in this world has been abysmal and lacking and I have had so much fear and confusion about what’s coming and exactly when lol?! On top of that, I already have crazy period problems like endo & fibroids so I’m already struggling to figure out how to best deal with my body and feelings of illness and pain. Never heard of perry menopause before either but I’ll add it to my list of things to look up 😆. Anyway, thank you Gayle and CBS Mornings and please have more in-depth shows on this, I’d love it 🙏 ❤
"Perimenopause" 👍🏽
This is fantastic!!! Thank you for sharing all this valuable information.
Stop breeding and buy a dog.
What a missed opportunity to seriously discuss menopause and the various approaches to address its most severe symptoms. By making it funny, we trivialize and diminish what women go through. Vaginal dryness is due to decreasing estrogen and can make sex very painful . Sudden fatigue, mood swings, insomnia, weight gain etc…we should talk earlier about all of it without shame and do more research.
Agreed!🤔🤗
This was done purely in vanity.
@@BigSmoke-bu6ib spot on! Humble bragging about what THEY went through… a bit too transparent…
@@puravidahoy I wish a giant earthquake would just swallow California and make it an expansion of the Pacific.
It hit me like a tone bricks and unfortunately no one but my mother experienced it around me. Unfortunately she can’t remember a lot about hers except she was very moody. I’m just so ready for it to be over!
I was so happy to see this is being talked about. I was just discussing this with my sister, there’s not a lot of information or conversation about this so that women can educate themselves about this new era in their life. I know I could use the knowledge.
Great conversation! Thank you for covering this.
Thank you for starting this conversation.
Thank you so much for having this conversation. It's been so severe and rough for me and few understand including other women and doctors.
This is so true I have been where you are at. I wish there was more I could do for you but at least this is a start and some good comments were made here. Just know you are not alone in this there are women like myself who care and want to help. There is an ending to this at some point. In the end I'm glad to be done with periods and survived the procesd.
Such an important conversation, thank you for sharing this. I’ve tried to have the menopause conversation with women for years, but no one wanted to. This morning a friend of mine and I had a great conversation however, it was very helpful. I’ll be sharing my story soon in an article.
I appreciate you all!
Blessings!
Definitely do this. Having gone through this myself I am an advocate for helping any woman going through this and being supportive. I never got this during my time, just laughed at by co-workers and family. Also was made to feel bad about it. To people we're who do this especially other women, "shame on you"! Your time will come. Best of luck on this and it will give women another resource to go to.
There is so much more to menopause than just hot flashes and/or loss of menstruation.
Good job 👏🏾 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This is great convo!!
Also, there are Mental Health symptoms (ie. Depression or High Anxiety) that come with Perimenopause and Menopause to be mindful of. Take care of all aspects of your health during this phase of life. Its an honor to reach menopause. Once the changes are managed, there is whole new lease on life to be enjoyed!!
OMG the high anxiety and depression is horrible. I'm almost 46 and sadly even some women aren't supported because this is not widely talked about. 😢
Thank you! I openly talk about this. Some of my friends in their early 40s don't even
Yayyyy thank you for the conversation
Let’s keep the conversation going.
For those suffering from hot flashes cut the sugar and thank me later!
ooo thank you thank you to allll the women talking about this ❤
Omg!! Thank you so much for this segment!!!! Fertility was big and menopause was a great addition! Thanks :)❤
So glad someone is talking about this subject!! I ask questions!! Don’t understand what is the big secret!!!
After years of monthly menstruation. Bloodletting cramps and clots it culminates in hot and cold flashes, the month of Oct just blood every damn day aches. We deserve ALL the damn things.
I’m in peri and it’s common to start in your 30’s, especially if your mother did too. I’m happy it’s being talked about more.
I am 55 1/2 and still got my period up to 2 months ago. It may still come again. I knew I was in perimenopause with irregular period, heavier a few days, bad mood swings, fatigue, migraines. It's awful. I also have Ulcerative Colitis and my period always affected it. I do get hot flashes off and on, and got belly fat with no change in diet. I wish more women would talk about it. If in the gyno world, most doctors are not taught all the things women go through in Perimenopause. The see you for pregnancy and menopause, but the middle step is missing. I found a doctor on line that is such a great educator of Perimenopause and menopause. Her name is Mary Claire Haver out of Texas and created the Galveston Diet. Unfortunately, you have to live there to see her, but I love all her educational Tik Toks and You Tube videos. She is real, explains everything, and HRT.
Thank you so much for talking about it. I've never had a hot flash but it is good to know about other things that have happened it's good to know we are not alone and it is not over for us!😊
Menopause was a new lease on life for me! It was a walk in the park compared to years of pain and heavy periods. I had my last period 20 years ago. After that, the hot flashes diminished significantly, my moods stabilized and I was able to sleep well. I found it so liberating not to have my life basically revolve around menstruation.
I’m 50 and been in it for at least 8 years. In your experience are you saying your done and it gets better? I just want to feel normal again! 😢
@@butterfly-kb4cn I had my last period at 47 and am now 68. I know that every woman's experience is different. For me, it got 100% better once my period stopped for good. The most annoying thing was the unpredictability of my cycle leading up to it. For most of my teen and adult years, periods were something to be endured. The past 21 years have been blessedly normal and pain free! Good luck to you!
@@ga6589 thank you so much you give me Hope! I was truly blessed my periods were like clockwork every 28-29 days lasted 3 days and only cramps my first day. I also cramped minimally during ovulation. I’m just tired of feeling tired. Thank you again for responding! 🤗💗
@@butterfly-kb4cn FYI- I'm lucky that I never felt a need for HRT. I know that some women do and find relief from bothersome menopausal symptoms.
This was eye opening
Thank you so much for discussing this I am going through this and have no idea what what to do
I experienced hot flashes, thinking it was perimenopause. Diagnosed with PCOS after experiencing my 3rd hot flash. It was a sudden rush of heat, too hot out of nowhere! Hormones are a B.
Are you kidding me? Menopause was the best time of my life. I breezed through it without a care. My doctor was dumbfounded she could not believe that I did not have any if those symptoms. Thank god.
Hopefully you understand that your super easy experience is NOT the norm.

I do
A necessary topic for females. Thank you. ❤❤
Thank freaking Goddess you're talking about this!
Talk about incontinence please!
Laughing, jumping, sneezing, coughing. 💦
And your body dries out so you need to drink more water!
I get up to pee about 5 times a night, which adds to my lack of sleep.
I barely can stay awake even while I’m teaching yoga!
😴
This was mildly disturbing and disappointing that the "natural" consequence of menopause is the beginning of heart disease, Alzheimer, and osteoporosis and can be circumvented with HRT was not mentioned.
That's the information that needs to get out in the Public.
My mother is struggling with menopause right now
Be there for her if she is agreeable to this. Right now she needs your love and support. I had to go through this alone with only people laughing at me or making me feel bad. Be there for her!
This is great!!
Y'all can keep ol Gayle. She & Don lemon will/have ruined cnn for me
Gail say it to the men that wanna be women 🤔
Real women go through a lot.
I’m “57” and been in my menopausal phase since “55” My period completely stopped.
I have most of my hot flashes at night while I’m sleeping and wake up soaked to the bones.
After my marriage of “25” years ended I Thank God I don’t have anyone to lay beside bc he’ll be disappointed 😔 when I cannot have anyone up on me it’s horrible 😢

I 'm so sorry you are having such a hard time. When I went through this I was alone and didn't have to worry about a man in the mix. That can be a factor going through this in a relationship or marriage. Even a transgender person. If the man isn't supportive, knowledgeable or understanding of what you are going through there can be issues. Take care of yourself and I truly do mean it!
Great women knowledge, all natural and unique issues
My symptoms were mood and urinary tract related.
Looooved this
Very insightful conversation. Menopause is natural 😍
It should be talk about more because the only time I’ve ever heard of menopause was when it happened to Kitty in That 70’s Show
Drew loves to talk over people
I had a ablation done on my uterus wich is buring of the inside lining of the uterus I'm 43 and I was getting fibroids. I don't bleed anymore but my cramps are worse and it will make it harder to tell if I have uterine cancer. Having said that I would do it again in a heart beat. It is so nice not bleeding anymore!
I had that also but i still get pap smears which is the number 1 detector of cervical/uterine cancer. I have no idea why you still get cramps as there is no monthly thickening of uterus, then shedding-bleeding. I may feel a very minor pain when ovary releases egg, I will know which ovary did it, but it is nothing like period cramps and inflammation. Perhaps you need an ultrasound or CT. When i had my ablation, I also had laparoscopic abd surg to remove cyst on fallopian tube. Idk why but that cyst was bend over painful. After both procedures, I felt so much better. Good luck.
@@msavina9129 thank you for taking the time to respond I will make an appointment and talk to my gyno.

You’re welcome.
@@msavina9129 yes, I want to say thank you to all the commenters like you who actually share their own experiences and information because it’s soooo helpful.
I would call it " Liberating" 😊
Except periods ceasing I had no symptoms. I have PCOD and had enough issues growing up. My sister did have some issues when she went through it.
My periods stopped in my mid 20s. Then came back at 36. They were never regular but I started to bleed for 30 days , and it would come back 2 weeks later and start again. It was ridiculous. But my blood work says I still have eggs but I don't believe that can be right.
Check to see if you have PCOS or another issue like that
TIll date there is no conclusive proof that women are born with all the eggs that they'll ever have.. please change this old paradigm thinking.. emerging research indicates the opposite.
Hey Gale King ❤🎉
Here I am 39 years old and sweating, feeling redness in my face, headaches and so filled with anxiety because of this. It started 2 years ago and I feel warm all day and can't focus because I feel something is wrong. I can't even wear warm sweaters or a coat and seeing other women in my age with none of these problems. What's wrong? 😭
I didn't think drew was old enough for the menopause!
Good morning 🧚🏿♂️🌄
You don't through the menopause!
You go in the menopause and its lives with you until the day you die😢
This series wasn't long enough.
I’m a Gene Xer and some of my friends are in perimenopause, some are not. I’m 48 and I’ve never thought about it, even at pushing 50. I recently went to my OB/GYN and my PCP and they both were talking to me about preparing to go into perimenopause at some point. So, I was like I guess I better start preparing. Ironically enough because Drew Barrymore is the same age as me, I just randomly thought is she going through this? It’s a bit strange because as a woman so much of your life is your period. I don’t talk to my mother about it as she’s one of those jealous mothers. The only thing I’m not looking forward to are the flashes and dry vagina. I like having with my man.
I am 54, getting hot flashes mostly at night. It's horrible. I can't sleep😢
I'm 56 and have been having hot flashes for 10 years. Mine are debilitating and the ONLY thing that has helped me has been taking Gabapentin off label for hot flashes. This medicine will also make you sleepy, so maybe talk to your doctor about taking a low dose only at bedtime? Hope this helps and wish I knew about it sooner!
@@melsinTN Thank you
Never had hot flashes at all
I'm sorry if we are over 60 and close to 70 I don't understand what the surprise is about.
I was thrown suddenly into menopause a few months after turning 46 🥵🥵🥵 ITS HORRIBLE
Justine 🌺
I'm a female and I was hoping for some suggestions options.
I have suggested this several times and will offer this information to any woman who is going through severe hot flashes. I have been going through this for 10 years and for the last 3, I have been prescribed Gabapentin off-label for hot flashes. It has changed my life. It brings my hot flashes down from 15-20/day to 2. I sleep better, my mood is better, I am a completely different person when I'm taking it than when I'm not. Please have a discussion with your doctor about this medicaton if you are suffering with hot flashes and depression/anxiety.
I love how celebrities talk about this like they're the first ones ever to experience it, and they think they're so profound for having the conversation.
38 and in perimeno it’s hard
Every time Gayle says "I know some women..." I'm like who? Oprah???
Gail is 68 & Drew is 48. Big age & biological difference.
So? Older women like Gayle, who have already been through menopause, can help women who are going through peri NOW, like Drew.

With all due respect Gayle King, your almost 70.. Menopause did not just start for you !!!
Mine is rebirth
Being a woman is so tough, especially medical care. Monthly period which may include pain and discomfort, childbirth, and menopause. Don’t forget childcare for at least 18 years. That is the reason I prefer having boy so baby life does not have to go through so many difficulties.
Menopause is awful 🥵
Thank you for bringing this out of the closet. I was in peri-menopause for 13+ years finally hit menopause but still getting hot flashes Every. Single. Day. Couldn’t try HRT because of close family history of breast cancer.
Can we also talk about the horrible lower belly flab that comes out of no where during the last year of peri-menopause.
I feel your pain. I started taking Gabapentin 300mg 3x day about 3 years ago - GAME CHANGER where my hot flashes are concerned. I wasn't aware that this medication existed off-label for hot flashes but it has been the only thing that has helped me. Talk to your doctor about it, because I honestly do not know what I would do without it. My hot flashes are 15-20x a day without it.
I didn't know Drew was that old.
Buy a dog!
Gayle doesn’t let other people talk? It’s very annoying….

I just hope Gayle is still fertile 🔥🔥🔥
