the rap in tagalog was used in her X factor auditions and incorporated it in the song because of its flow. she's a very talented ARTIST, doing her own song and vocal arrangements to suit her voice. she's known to be the genre killer because her music is a fusion of different music styles. i am looking forward to more reactions to KZ and katrina of course. Other noteworthy performances of her on The Singer 2018 are "Royals" and "Say Something". Her collab with Kyla and Yeng Constantino of "Doo-Wop"and "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" is lit, so as her concert performance of "Close To You" (The Carpenters).

That opening verse was definitely Auto-tuned as evidenced by the sound being forcefully pulled to the note it was set to trigger. KZ explained it in an interview czcams.com/video/kZczDl2mqn0/video.html because apparently some fans were so adamant insisting it was not. Singer2018 committee allowed it as an effect, not to enhance singing but rather as shock mechanism to instantly grab attention for the performance. Whether she used her Voice Live sound processor or the venue's equipment was not mentioned but regardless, it was autotune with (of course) reverb and some time delay. I hope that settles this undying myth that KZ can do the autotune effect in her throat. KZ is a genuine world class performance arts prodigy (also an actress, arranger, writer, painter, dancer, keyboardist, guitarist, percussionist and many more) but she is not an AI cyborg 😁

Good reaction! KZ is one of my favorite artists and it's always fun to see someone react to her for the first time. The Singer is a competition show from China for professional singers. Mostly from China but they usually have two foreign singers. That season it was KZ and Jessie J. I've seen KZ's rap (in her native language Tagalog) translated and it's basically "You did me wrong and you messed with the wrong girl. You're going to pay for it." Like others have said, KZ did win this episode (her first on the show though it was episode 5). I thought KZ was wonderful on every performance on the show but the voting didn't reflect it. I think the show was a bit rigged. They no doubt paid Jessie J quite a bit to be in China for 2-3 months and I'm thinking they wanted the season to come down to Jessie J versus Chinese singers. So after a few episodes they insisted KZ sing a few obscure songs (Real Gone by Sheryl Crow from the animated movie Cars for one) and that hurt her with the audience voting though she did sing well. KZ was eliminated after 5-6 episodes though she keep popping up on episodes after that. Jessie J asked her to help out with the rap for Bang Bang in the finale. You already said you're going to react to Say Something and that's a good choice that shows another side of KZ's skills. Jessie J lost to KZ and won that episode 5 of singer 2018 but overall Jessie J won that contest. KZ is a total package performer artist and she was the one arranges her songs. Peter Frampton didn't invent the talk box. Pedal steel guitarist Pete Drake showed it to him while recording parts for a George Harrison album. Actually Drake showed it to Joe Walsh before that, and Walsh used it on his song "Rocky Mountain Way" before Frampton popularized the effect. Steel guitarist Alvino Rey used an early version as far back as 1939, and you can see old movie clips of him on CZcams playing what he called Stringy The Singing Guitar. In the version used in the movie his wife used a throat mic to manipulate the notes from behind a curtain. Some more trivia : notice how when she sings "deep, deep, deep, deep" she is holding her earring in her hand. She caught it as she was kneeling down just before that. Also see the short Y.Tube video called "KZ Tandingan meets Jessie J", which was filmed earlier the same day.

I grew up with his music - and Eric Clapton, The Eagles, Steve Miller Band, Fleetwood Mac... I actually have seen the Eagles (in 2003), Frampton (in 2007 or 2008 - some girl rushed the stage at The Backyard in Austin, and security had her removed and Peter, with his not so long hair “flipped his hair” with his hands when he saw them taking her off stage) and Journey (in 2004 with Steve Augeri)

@Harorld K, Are you a Filipino? Omg! KZ rapped it in Tagalog, a widely spoken Filipino language. KZ next round was a rendition of Mandarin medley title"The Pain Which You Don't Know" of which she sung in Mandarin to show respect to Chinese audience and culture.
Rasciebelle "Bella" Barrios Santiago sung Rolling in the deep exactly the same as KZ in Romania's X Factor 2018 and she owned the stage better than KZ on the way to became the winner.

In this episode, KZ actually won 1st place. She rapped in Tagalog language. She used an over gained autotune just for artistry effects in the intro. She arranged this herself. This was held in China. The audience were musical enthusiasts, musicians, singers who had to book early to get an expensive seat in this competition. After the show, all of the audience will cast their votes in a ballot box to determine the winners and place of the contestants. The two lowest votes get eliminated. New foreign participants are invited for the next episode. The participants were from Hongkong, Taiwan, the UK, the Philippines, and of course China. In the end, Jesse J won. I meant like the overall competition. Cause Jessie J won the whole show but KZ was eventually eliminated. I wasn’t sure how this show worked as far as rounds (if there is voting done or strictly judges choice?)
*No, KZ beat Jessie J with this performance on her 1st week there but JJ won the contest in the end. KZ is the 1st winner of X-Factor Philippines & is till today loved by people.* (Yes its a tech reverb device). She has more secret talent you have not seen yet.
I understand KZ beat her in this round thanks the plethora of comments telling me so, but what I meant was Jessie J won the entire thing and KZ did not (as noted in my pinned comment and description).
I didn't know how "rounds" worked on this show. I just looked up to see who won the contest at the end and saw it was Jessie J -- which in my opinion is stupid.
I've been working on more videos reacting to KZ...she is incredible. She's the definition of an artist.
