Modern Warfare 2 is one of my favorite single-player campaigns that I've ever played, and the Battle of Washington D.C. is a pivotal part of that. Exploring the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, and of course, the White House was a ton of fun with the use of noclip. It's something I've always wanted to do, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.

Modern Warfare 2 is modded with a few changes to a config file. This is well documented on the Steam discussion page if you're interested.

Fun fact: The solider inside the tunnel telling everyone to keep going to "Whiskey Hotel" is the only soldier in the game who has a chance of getting the Staff Sergeant rank.
Every other randomly generated soldier is a Private, Corporal, or Sergeant. The one in the Tunnel is the only one who can get anything higher than Sergeant.
On the flip side, Colonel Marshall is also the only soldier, named or generated, to be above Staff Sergeant (excl. TF141 & Shepard), and is in turn the only Officer.
So there you have it, the only two unique US soldiers in MW2 are both on the same mission, and barely 20 steps apart.

There’s also a SSG Stephenson in the beginning, on the whiteboard in there too all of the names are corresponding to characters in and outside the bunker so none of them are randomly generated names, except for the canon fodder that spawn lol

If you look online you can find the entire loop of the radio transmissions you hear throughout someof these missions and they tell an entire seperate story. Its wild
that shit is nightmare fuel...Back when they still cared about the quality of the game.
@RenegadeSamurai it really is. While I never joined the army (medically disqualified sadly) it had been my plan most of my life. So just sitting there listening to those transmissions always gave me chills

Little fun fact coming from a jet nerd. In the original 2009 version of MW2, the jets that fly over at the end of Whiskey Hotel are MiG-29 Fulcrums, Russian jets. This was corrected to American F-15 Eagles in the remaster.
It would be cool to see this sort of stuff done in the remasters, there are some pc tools I think, so it should be possible, there would be so many cool out of bounds stuff to see, i did the afghan base glitch out myself on ps4 and it was cool to see so many vehicles and of course the not humvee generic branded jeeps lol.
They were MiG-29s. I believe that the only ones fighter jets of Soviet/Russian origin to appear in COD after the MiG-29, is the MiG-17 in the "Operation 40" mission in Black Ops and MiG-23 in BO CW.
@@LucasFelipe356 Were they MiG-29’s? I could’ve sworn they were SU-27s, but it’s so dark and hard to tell in the lighting lol. I’ll edit the post then.
@@wyvern404_ I remember in mw remastered some blackhawks had royal air force decals, when of course the uk does not use blackhawks, they use lynx wildcats.
@@wyvern404_ You can see the model flying in mod, but you can get a normal close-up view of the same model in the "Cliffhanger” mission, when there are a few of them on the runway.

It's really not all that crazy tbf, this what was expected of the average multimillion dollar game company of its time, while nowadays the same company is making on average double what they used to per game but releasing some of the worst content we have had since advanced warfare. This game stood to the test of time as it should of, its just that the standard of our games these days seemed to have slipped.
I would say Battlefield 3 aged the best of its contemporaries. MW2 is up there but the gap between first and second is pretty large.

BTR's electrical lock is dead, and they're trying to help their comrades to get out, there's even voice lines in Russian about it, blurred by the rain.
P.S. After you kill Russian troops on the BTR, you can go close to the BTR and hear how troops inside asks, in russian, troops outside, what's happened and where did they went.

Foley and Dunn even have a line about them, where Dunn asks "What about the guys inside?" and Foley responds with "What about em?"
Why would you have an electrical lock on a vehicle, that is supposed to fight WW3?
Fun fact: every soldier in the bunker is not a randomly generated name, if you go and look at the list of names and units in the area on the whiteboard when you spawn in, everything lines up with ranks and names
The soundtrack to this game is easily one of my all time favorites. Zimmer and Balfe did it perfectly.
Ive said it most of my life and i will continue to say it. Mw2 was the peak of warfare story telling. The way the story unravels as you play as the very front line gunmen. Then to get taken to the next mission across the world as your infiltrating a sub to send a nuke to the battlefield that you were just in is insane. Without a doubt in my mind some of the most engaging story ever! Honestly have fallen in love with mw2 time and time again, just watching a video like this sparks the love i have for this game. Without a doubt one of my favourite call of duty games!
You might like half life. Probably the Black mesa version though, it's a little crisper for modern audiences
Couple things from a former White House intern:
1. Where the Russian troops are on top of the BMP on the other side of the Eisenhower Building (EEOB) that’s mainly a business district with limited government offices (such as CFPB and the USTR and the FDIC) and no parking garage to speak of. In fact most parking is done in the underground of office buildings.
2. As for the White House itself I noticed you make a mistake when you are talking about the Oval Office. (It’s a same mistake I made before working at the WH.) The Oval Office is in the west wing and is that first room they enter in the west wing and hear that hammer down is in effect. That oval room you see at the front of the White House that most people mistake for the Oval Office is the diplomatic reception room. Basically the front door of the WH.
3. I love this game. I still enjoy the nostalgia of it all. The White House is a beautiful place filled with some of the brightest people in the world (even if it’s not your party) and this is a great depiction of a tragedy. If you love this mission like I did when I was a kid and still do now I recommend listening to the radio chatter from this mission. Tells a great story in and of itself.

@@yeahbuddy7217 Lol they actually think it’s disrespectful to you to ask you to get coffee for them. I’ve both been an intern and had interns and I think that if you have them get food for you you should allow them to get something for themselves as a thank you. Anyway, I didn’t do anything confidential I really just helped with paper. First draft of memos, issue research, and yes some escorting of guests. But ultimately those moments were really cool. I’m a big history guy so I got to give mayors and state legislators (particularly the ones who had never been there before) some building history which they seemed to appreciate. Something to tell their family when talking about their trip to the WH.
I know this is a weird thing to notice but I’ve always noticed how the Washington Monument in MW2 and the Washington Monument in Fallout 3 look exactly the same. Down to the damage and rebar.
Wow, two games from completely different genres by completely different developers and publishers; an action RPG with FPS elements and a traditional FPS.
Makes me wonder if developers uses to take/use photos if they were making games based off of or using real world locations.

You know during the Second Sun mission, Foley will tell us to get off the streets but if you don’t, endless aircrafts will crash on top of you

6:46 I think that's supposed to be Constitution Gardens Pond. That pond also has Signers' Island and Memorial, which has the stones engraved with copies of all signatures appearing on 1776's U.S. Declaration of Independence. It's also next to Vietnam Veteran's Memorial.
Ah, back when Infinity Ward's Call of Duty entries also had personality. The amount of background details in the old MW games is pretty cool too, especially the dialogue. It really reminds me of Red Faction 2 and how that game was OBSESSED with worldbuilding and story to the point where the gameplay was little more than a shooting gallery. These are really good shooting galleries, though :P
RF2 is the only game in the series I never finished, not even close. It was that bad lol. I got to the first mech section and couldn't figure out how to progress.
Also MG-42 HUD pickup icon isn't from CoD WaW. CoD WaW uses icon without bipod and slightly brighter. The one in MW2 is straight from CoD2, which was also present in CoD4.
Basically every COD game was actually just CoD2 for the longest time, I think up until Advanced Warfare.
Man, CoD2 is the best, the death animations are so nice and way better than ragdolls in my opinion, and a very good storyline, I wish modern games had optional death animations(no ragdolls)
looking back on it this scene could've made for an epic multiplayer map

The Oval Office is the room in the west wing where you first receive the transmission about the bombing mission, the room you called the Oval Office is called “The Blue Room” in real life, and is much more blue than the game depicts.
Fun fact: when the helicopters are falling from the emp blast there is one helicopter that tracks you for taking too long to follow your allies.
Its uncanny looking up and seeing this helicopter emerge from the dark just follow your movements to drop on you
I binged the entire video like it was nothing, so interesting! I always loved how cinematic MW2 campaign was, it literally left a mark on me back in '09 , and seeing all the boundaries and how things work in the background was sick af.

Pro tip for future videos that will make showcasing things much easier for you: you can bind g_speed 10000 command to any key (and 190 for other key to bring back original value) to make nocliping much faster. Also on Second Sun level at the "falling choppers" phase if you enable noclip and high g_speed value and you look up, you will notice that all falling choppers will follow your movement and will have your current g_speed value, so if you fly fast in the air the helis also will fly towards you which looks very funny

I have a wierd lost memory on this mission. I 100% remember if you struggle in protecting the Washington monument with the javelins, the monument will spit in two and collapse. Anyone else remember this? And then it would go back to the latest checkpoint
I don't think that happens. There's a video by Generalkidd that goes through what happens if you don't defend it. You can hear the soldiers at the evac site get more and more desperate until eventually they stop talking.

Something Interesting to add and I wish it was mentioned even briefly in the mission. Is Joint Base Myer Henderson Hall is literally right across the Potomac to the National Mall area. JBMHH or "Fort Myer" is home to the oldest Active Infantry Regiment; The Old Guard. Comprised of mostly Infantry. They train for Ceremonies in Arlington National Cemetery but are also a huge part in Defense of the National Capitol Region. You'd think they could have atleast mentioned that they were likely wiped out in the inital Invasion or remnants of them were fighting alongside you.

12:03 that’s not callsign, it’s a challenge word. usually this is established before any mission in an OPORD brief. Youll have a challenge word and password associated like rocky & balboa, thunder & lightning and etc
Im not sure if anyone picked up on it, but after the EMP when you are in the building you see the bright light and here an explosion, then a jet engine slides down the pavement, thats the point that the 727 impacts the terrain. Im curious to know if there was any additional animation to that accident like there was with the C130 crash in "Exodus"
This is soooo interesting because I went to DC for the first time in 2023! I loved ot and definitely going back but also wanted to see how accurate they got the white house
Replying to my own comment. I get all around that whole area. Took me and my fam a whole evening to start at the Monument and go to the Lincoln memorial, around the po and evening. Pretty damn accurate
In case you didn’t know hammer down is a reference to the movie cloverfield were the same operation is used in a attempt to kill the monster

Bruh imagine if there was a bigger part of the city that was included in this mission, Same with with the burger town one, I wish there was more open houses and areas to explore but it is a game from 2009 and I love what we got, such an amazing game 😭♥️

One thing I noticed at the end of the Whitehouse mission is when the US fighter jets fly over they are actually Russian Migs which is weird they'd use that asset when they already have both an F-15 and Harrier asset in the game
Fun fact: In the "Honey Badger" level, after you cross the last bridge, before exploring the last villa end of the street, if you fire an rpg to any direction it will automaticly rotate and hit the honey badger just like a smart missile.

Feels obvious in hindsight, but took me a while to figure out it he was referring to the nuclear bomb.

Crazy how i never noticed how many Corporals there are in Call of Duty. Ive been in almost 11 years and maybe seen 1 or 2
I played a lot of the older cod and it's cool and amazing
I live near the neighborhood Second Sun takes place in and I can tell you those are all real buildings for the most part, however they kinda played a little fast and loose with some of the layout. For example, the building with the SAMs on the roof looks a lot like the EPA building or maybe USDI, but that should be 2 blocks away. The building across from where you hide is clearly the FTC building, but that should be way at the other end of the mall.
On the accurate side though, the building with the shootout in the office looks a lot like the World Bank building, and is in exactly the right place to be that (relative to the EEOB). The EEOB itself isn't quite in the right place, but that is a pretty faithful model to it and it's close enough.
All in all, I'd say the whole thing is roughly accurate, but narrowed by about 2 or 3 blocks in the North-South Direction, bringing the WH and EEOB closer to the Mall. The big big miss though in terms of accuracy, is that they're missing the hill. This whole neighborhood is built on a somewhat steep hill going down from the WH to the Mall. Seeing it laid out, but totally flat is honestly pretty uncanny valley for me.
2:50 The box rooms are most likely used for storing NPCS before spawning them. Half life also uses this technique,if not,it would be a cut section of the map.
Would be cool to see the campaign remaster comparison to see if they changed any of this!

Should do this on the remastered version, fun fact the building you storm in this mission is worse in the remastered as the outside is missing walls which it had in the original which is strange.
34:40 the russians on the btr are trying to rescue the other russians that are stuck inside, because the electricity is out. you can actully listen to them and hear them talking inside the btr.

If you look up during the emp with helicopters falling, the game spawns them above you as long as you are outside. If you stay out long enough its quite comical how many come down.
I'd love to see outside the map on the Wolverines! & Exodus as there seems to be a lot going on
Actually Exodus is pretty empty on the outside. I explored the hell out of that map back in the day. There is a glitch where in the beginning you must take out a turret, what you can do instead is run to that turret and simply grab it like you would in multi-player. Then simply go back with it over to a house with a porch roof and place it there jump onto the turret, on to the roof and make a dash for the garden hedging and you're practically out of the map. There is a lot of fall through sections, the highway is relatively empty so is the main battle section as enemies haven't loaded up since you didn't progress pass the turret which is still in fact hostile and will shot at you while you're on the roof, a notable mention.

When i was a little kid, i thought this mission was a fallout lore story. The trenches in the mall, the damages to the monuments and Capitol Building, Lincoln memorial intact. But obviously it isn't. Just thought it was cool

When I first played this game, I wondered what a nuke had to with helicopters and the airplane, but later in life I learned that ICBMs cause an EMP
i didnt even know where the evac site was until now
So this entire time I suffered that crossing (ca. 40:00) with many deaths because I didn't know shooting the spotlights reduced accuracy? Dang I wish I knew that way back...
I was hoping u would show the animation of all the planes falling in no clip mode and where they spawn from

I love this game and this level but I just noticed that the radio was working somehow in that final section. Not quite how that works 😂
41:15 Not quite. Broken Arrow is a request for an Airstrike directly on top of your position in hopes of making it a one final cost for the enemy to take it.

Have you ever thought about re-doing this but on MW2 Campaign Remastered using the H2 mod which allows you to use no-clip?
Edit: there is also a H1 mod for MWR that has console enabled for no-clip too if you're interested in those.
i was of the impression broken arrow was referring to the nuke because an accident involving a nuke is called a "broken arrow"
This is true! But if a squad leader is saying it, it means their squad has been overrun and they are calling for any available air support to assist.
It would be cool if you did this for the remake to see if anything is different.

I think soldier in that small room with the folding chair may actually be a russian soldier that was taken prisoner, interrogated, and killed. The uniform looks different compared to the US soldiers, and the way that room looks....idk man, it just gives off interrogation vibes.
