      Dear Dan and Brandon,
First, let me say I’m a huge fan and subscribed follower. Your videos are what got me initially interested in jumping and now I’m on my 3rd month of pretty much daily jump roping. Over the course of these 3 months, I purchased and tested several different ropes. Fortunately none have been awful but clearly some have stood out over others. I resisted purchasing the Crossrope because of the cost and I was still waiting to see if my interest in jumping would decrease. I’m happy to say that that hasn’t happened. In fact, my enjoyment and level of satisfaction continues to grow. One might say I’m obsessed! Because of this, last week I went ahead and purchased the Get Lean set from Crossrope. I waited with great anticipation for this new rope system and it finally came last Friday. I’ve tested it for the last 3 days but regretfully, I’m having some buyer’s remorse. I would completely agree with your account that this is a very well built, high quality jump rope. I can feel the feedback that comes from the heavier cables that you have described. However, there seems to be a flaw to the design that I am having real trouble with. You’ve even described it in some of your videos as a “clicking” that occurs when using the rope. This seems to be the different metal parts catching on one another for a brief moment during the rotation of the rope. I’ve learned to modify my wrist movement in such a way to minimize the clicking from occurring but I cannot eliminate it entirely and that’s where my remorse comes in. It really creates a distraction and a not so fluid experience when I’m jumping. If I had started with this rope, or if it wasn’t such a premium cost, I might be able to learn to live with it but right now, I’m really struggling with my experience with the Crossrope. I’m wondering if you have suggestions on how to eliminate the clicking from occurring, or perhaps I have a faulty set? I REALLY want to love this rope but right now I just don’t. I know you aren’t the ones who make the rope, so I’ll be reaching out to Crossrope as well, but I thought you might have a recommendation given that you’ve experienced this issue as well. Still a huge fan of your channel. Thanks for all of your great content.

My girlfriend boxed for 9 years.. convinced me to start doing it after I showed her your guys cool vids... I laughed when she told me she could do it for an hour straight and still do workouts (she’s 5’1, under a 100 lbs). Then she started crisscrossing.. started doing all these sweet moves. One foot, doubling up.. completely blew my mind.. started slow last week, now can do it straight for 5 minutes. 40 minutes, 1 minute rest every 5 minutes.
Cutting a lot. Thanks guys.. keep up the cool vids.

Engineer Zeus were u on a caloric deficit???? Or just ate normally?

    • @JamesPhillipsOfficial
      @JamesPhillipsOfficial Před 5 lety +3

Connor Murphy taught me to pay attention to what your intake is and creating calorie deficit. as simple as it sounds i never gave a damn about calories until counting them which is easy in UK its printed on the front of every grocery, but i ignored it lol .. but understanding also what amount of calories are burned over time during a heavy jump rope session i got a rope that weighs 6.3lbs! i know my intensity is much higher than with normal ropes
since march this year i lost 37lb! I've kept if off as well! but yeah its what you eat rather than how much due to calorie density.. try eating a 200gram salad youll struggle but eating 150gram burger with 20 times more calories and youll still be hungry for a while ... but so long as you are below maintenance your body finds the calories from elsewhere, hence losing weight. Calories cannot invent themselves in the body, not possible.
excercise would typically boost calorie allowance so you can eat more and needing to train even harder but also you cant out-train a bad diet.
1 guy on here tried to burn off 10,000 calories in 1 day, he was working out all day long and reached 9000 and he didn't stop to sit down so realistically i think average joe whoes dedicated can achieve minus 1000 calories a day through jumping rope with mens 2500 allowance would mean it looks like 1500 were consumed for the day so 1 third of a pound would be lost
i think of it as aerobic cuts the fat and strength training keeps it off as muscle uses fat for fuel even at rest so more muscle mass - less fat hence a dedicated body builder can eat a pizza its not going to do anything
dedication too at least 3 times a week maximum of 5 to prevent over use injury

Pretty sure as of this day, it's been one year and one month since I began using a jump rope. I started as a 5'8 15 year old that weighed 88.3 kg (194 lbs), but now I weigh 68.6 kg (151 lbs). I started off doing 30 minutes of jump rope everyday, then slowly increased it until I was able to do an hour. Thing is, I quit several times, which resulted in several breaks that lasted months, meaning I could've lost even more weight. I lost 15 of those kilos (33 lbs) over a 3-4 month period, mostly because it was the first time I consistently stuck to it but also because I made changes to my diet.
Please, if you're still on the fence about using a jump rope, just do it. You won't regret it. My confidence is much higher and my mental health has heavily improved because of it.
Edit, July 2020: I reached a weight of 57 kg (~125 lbs). This was around 4 months ago. I stopped doing jump rope since I'm mostly happy with how I look (except for a small bit of belly fat that just refuses to go away), and now I'm working on building muscle. I put on about 3-4 kg (6.6-8.8 lbs) of muscle over the past few months, and I've developed significant upper-body strength that I previously did not have, going from not being able to do chin-ups to doing 17 in a row.
Undoubtedly the best part about my experience is seeing people's reactions to my results. Even though I slimmed down ages ago, I'm still getting compliments from both my friends and from people I've never even spoken to before. One classmate I rarely interacted with before could barely recognise me, so I managed to convince her that I was a new student to the school, and even when I told her the truth she refused to believe me until I showed my old and current id cards. the mental health improvement I mentioned in the original comment has continued thanks to these compliments and reactions.

Most fighters cant jump rope the way that floyd mayweather jump rope. I learned how to jump rope by watching mayweather coming up. I move around alotttt while jump roping. Form side to side, circles, one feet, two feet, double spins while in the air, double spins with one twist/cross of the rope while in the air etc etc always move while jump roping and soon youll see a huge difference when you are sparring in practice and in your fights. Your rhythm coordination and feet work will be on another level

I just got back into jumping, again, and am doing 2 circuits instead of 5. When you said ‘gamify’, it made me think of how I went from not being able to jump 1 minute to jumping 45 minutes - hour. My goal was 200 jumps without a mistake. If i messed up at 33, I would then have a goal of 233. If I messed up at 100 on that second round, my target would be 483. Eventually, I was counting into the 1000s. Thanks for the encouragement.

Jump Rope Dudes - oh I know it’s just just for men! I just wish more women knew about this channel because I think it’s a great form of cardio that often is overlooked and I think jumping rope can be utilized in women’s workout routines as a part of working out that doesn’t necessarily need to be done in front of a group of people ( as opposed to going to the gym or running at a track ). As someone who is insecure about working out in front of other people, I think jumping rope sounds bad ass! :)

4 years back when I was 15 I was almost 75kg and was very frustrated because I was overweight according to the BMI. So i started jump roping about 6000 jump ropes per day along with some other home workouts and in the next 2-3 years I became 55kg so yet again I was underweight since my height increased but my weight decreased. Eventually I learnt to balance my diet along with the workout and now I’m 60kg and a fit person✌🏼

This is amazing! I'm going to try this for real. I've been looking for cardio for me to do - I'm 44 and I've had a total left hip replacement. I've been doing fast walks and some jogs on my treadmill, but I'm apprehensive about jogging and the impact it will have on my new hip since I've waited so long for it. I've been doing keto for almost 2 years and I've lost 100lbs, but since my hip was so bad, I couldn't exercise to lose the rest (about 70lbs more). I need to do something intense because "taking walks" even to 10k steps is doing nothing for me. But it needs to not be too intense - like I can't do burpees or anything that requires intense hip/thigh workouts. I've been researching jumping jacks, and stumbled across you guys. Totally going to buy a jump rope now!
