The smile on your face after winning with the creepy crawly is great.
I thought that the Orangutan was 1.g4, not 1.b4? What GM David Howell played was the Polish ...
@@brainsparkeducation431 no it's 1.b4 i'm pretty sure
Nepo: comes prepared to face the Catalan, Marshall, and Sveshnikov. Magnus: I just decided to play the creepy crawly today.
Magnus: let's see... monkey's bum or toilet attack?
😹😹😹😹 shocking the entire Chess community
@@stanfordtonnychikowore3807 I mean if he's certainly winning the match he could try to play this and try to save a draw lol
Like Ian has never seen this
lol
Bro beat him with the creepy crawly💀💀
bruh not the creepy crawly 🤣🪲🥶
Yeah and David Howell was 2700+ elo once and now 2650. And he is beaten with a very wrong opening.
@@sharkam69 David had mate in one or two, but lost on time
Damn bro you watched the video too? That's craazy
It's official, the Creepy Crawly opening has 100% win rate on the GM level
Was it played once or something?
@@fte6 yes it played once most probs
@@fte6 search for Michael Basman, he played It quite a bit
@@nothingspecial8968 well they played it at the end of the video and they are both GMs

3:19 Nice... he taught Magnus how to checkmate on f7, he pointed with the finger too in case Magnus didn't understand, how considerate.
It's more for the audience

3:20 love how explains threatening checkmate to Magnus.... like he didn't see it.
That's for viewers, not for Magnus.
I really hope Magnus defends his title again. Watching him play is a treasure.
nat gan noh heppan. you wanna know why? because his Magnus Carlsen !!!! 😂 im not laughing im crying out loud.
even he doesn't defend, he will still play.
Playing and prepearing every 2 years is intense and boring
He will play for sure, it was all talk to give everyone more motivation to be the best they could.
i am better than him actually
@@bonedward5697 wtf did you just say
Eric Rosen would probably do the best in the world at this. For every really bad dumb odd named opening there is Eric already has a 20 minute video playing it.
Honestly i think Eric is second to Jonathan Schrantz that dude has a "play every single gambit" speedrun and like his gambit abuse is almost cringe
@@jackocarina8007 Yep, Schrantz is the second name that immediately came to mind.
@@jackocarina8007 Nakhmanson was crazy strong tho
The funny thing is, you have all these fools online playing the Stafford gambit, and it’s a REALLY bad opening if white knows the correct setup
And they often get angry when you calmly refute their entire setup
@@ifbfmto9338 ya white s center is just crushing..black have no play against it in any way...even if there with c5 it's not worth a pawn
Magnus: "It's not a bad move B4"
Me: "Hold my beer"
*Hands you a beer.*
"It's not a bad move B4, 'before' you see me play"
Its actually called the Hyper accelerated Evans Gambit
@@liljackypaper wtf lmao

I like David Howell as a person. Always glad to see him in a chess video.
So you dislike him as a chess player?
@@31redorange08 Logic fail. So if you find Gordon Ramsay entertaining that means you don't like his cooking?
He's not too bad as a tree either.
@@pnutbutrncrackers Logic fail.
Indeed
“I’ll beat you with the creepy crawly.” Love Magnus
The symbol Na literally stands for natrium. Sodium and natrium are just the same thing.
Crazy how in every sensible language natrium is the word but english just has sodium when the symbol is already Na
@@chicken29843 he did, then amended to natrium
@@drakeking9628 in Portuguese it's Sódio
Good thing they included that in the video we all just watched.
Natrium is Latin
"It came from an animal’s body part"
It could be leg, arm, even hair. But no. Magnus decided that it's Donkey's Scrotum.
So it's Donkey's Scrotum now.
loooooooooooooool
He should play it a few times and then tell the world it's 'The G.O.A.T Scrotum" now.
2:36 That "yes" from Magnus is priceless xd
Loved this video. Good content 👌 you guys had a blast
very cool series magnus, really might test out some openings like the creepy crawly now lol
I am an American male who has never once played a competitive game of chess in my life but I truly hope Magnus Carlsen realizes that he has become a shining light for a sport that hardly gets recognized in the WestWorld. I love his pure genius, his aptitude for learning and most importantly his ability to have fun when the time calls for it. You really only hear about how chess is a game for stuck up people and I’ve never been happier to discover that something isn’t true. Keep being you Magnus!
American male, definitely not a CZcams comment bot
@@collegewifi5024 hahaha touché. But I made that statement because chess is just not that popular in the US. It was to make a point that Magnus reaches even unlikely audiences. But that was funny lmao
@@1FootballGuy1002 Is it? Nakamura is the biggest chess streamer of the world, he's american
Chess actually has become very popular this 2 last years..
@@felipeportela5693 streaming is one thing, but when do you ever heard about chess on ESPN? Or any nationally recognized sports network? It’s gaining popularity, absolutely. But I would by no means call it “popular” in the states. And to my point, people like Magnus and Nakamura are helping grow the sport. Not sure why this needs to be argued
love to see magnus having fun !
love the edition work
I also used to confuse natrium and sodium, since the element is called natrium in my language too. Same with potassium, which in most languages is called kalium. Which honestly makes more sense, since the chemical symbols are Na and K, not So and P.
And doctors still say hyponatremic or hypernatremic or hypokalemic, etc.
Bet: Magnus will play the creepy crawly in a rapid/blitz tournament.
pretty cool, David is a grand master at both British morning show voice and chess.
And he used one of these openings to win against Narodistsky in a blitz game. Genius.
1:17 ,he played that against daniel a few days back, the sodium(Na) attack and ofcourse went on to win the game as well
2... Ke7 is sometimes referred to as the hotbox variation
Love some of the silly names. Never heard of the toilet attack before! My favourite silly variation: The Frankenstein-Dracula variation. I love that name!
I like the Halloween Gambit
@@Lazync its when if white brings the bishop to c4 in the Vienna you go kf6xe4 then if white takes back with kc3 you fork with d5.. if I recall correctly its a pretty balanced position
@@Lazync - Yep, it goes 1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3.Bc4 Nxe4 (If 4.Nxe4 d5! walks into a nasty fork) 4.Qh5!? (A very interesting and difficult to meet try - Black must play accurately or lose quickly) 4...Nd6 - A clumsy looking defense as it blocks in black's pieces but necessary to the position in hopes of gaining equality. Tricky to play against as black but in theory black should get equality in the line.
@@johnbachner9901 I was thinking how can King take on e4 but I suppose you meant Nfxe4
The Frankenstein-Dracula isn't really silly, it's played in correspondence chess.
Great segments! Oh, please play Nepo again. Last time.
Whats in a name of the opening when played against magnus... He just crushes it !!! My favourite champ ever... The Great Magnus !!!!
Can't wait for the next WCC and see Magnus playing the natrium attack
1500 openings?
For God Sake, i was feeling great knowing 6 of them.
Missed a trick not asking him about the Jerome gambit. And then watching him play it
little dissapointed I didnt see the lasker simul special variation with g3 h5
I bet rapport uses all these openings
Its great to know that with as much history and prestige there is that surrounds the highest tiers of chess, we still find ways to incorporate adolescent humor with names like Monkey's Bum and Bongcloud openings.
Surprised he didn't try for the jalalabad opening to see if Magnus knew about it. Got some attention on the youtube scene over a year ago at this point.
Drew a GM today for the first time ever after watching this video and playing 1. b4 against him. Oh, and it was on the table used for the Magnus - Karjakin WC match
I'm just a CM so it was a big deal for me :)
Oh I played a tourney online where the starting position was the Toilet Variation - actually great games, chances for both sides
This video is very instructive .
That board is so smooth ☺️
Some chess players want the world champion title.
The world champion title wants Magnus Carlsen.
Wahh👌👌
Magnus doesn't even win the world title anymore the world title now wins a magnus carlsen
Magnus needs to do some blitz games with the creepy crawly
Am not ready for 'former world champion, magnus carlsen'
Great Content well done!
You are always champion in my heart :)
Love from korea
Carlsen: we don’t have the periodic table in Norway it’s more of a seasonal bench in Scandinavia
magnus is such a nice guy
Magnus Carlson doesn't need much introduction he just appears
The double Bongcloud I heard something funny. Was called The Bongcloud: Hot Box Variation
2:44 is called the Magnus and Hikaru Opening
This is where Magnus got the idea to play the sodium recently. I have no doubt
The TOILET variation!? haha! That's just priceless!
Sounds like something from Kramnik-Topalov. I was very sad when this turned out not to be the case.
Nepo:"Stop playing those h4 a4 nonsese". Magnus: ok so h3 a3
It makes me happy that Magnus can have fun playing chess with people that are far below his level haha
And I wouldn’t even say that GM Howell is “far below” Magnus’ level. I mean, his peak rating was over 2700, which is Super GM level. If any of us is far below Magnus, it is definitely me. I mean, Carlsen has me by about 450 points, so that’s a pretty massive margin. David Howell is fairly comparable. And both of them would blow me off the board.
Far below is an overstatement lmao
tbf, then everybody is far below magnus's level. he's a fellow gm, ofc he can have fun and still have a good game. David's still a gm.
I think it's important to note that while David is a highly accomplished grandmaster, he's still rated something like 300-500 points behind Magnus. That means that Magnus is somewhere between 50x to 1000x more likely to win. So, while their relative elos aren't that far apart, their respective odds of winning are.
@@euphoria.yunjin everybody is far below Magnus.
Its more impressive that he knew of Mark Hebden!
It would be fun if he will use it in WCC
He recognized the ones he should have.
I like how 2:37 David is just giggling in the background
Missed opportunity to talk about the polar bear system by Icelandic GM Henrik Danielsen
gonna start exclusively playing with the creepy crawly
Where's the analysis of the game?
The shortened Grob attack, my variation: 1. g4 e5 2. f3!?
Magnus got one wrong!
1. B4 is called the hyper-accelerated Evans Gambit 😂
😅😂
Wanted to see the nakhmanson gambit
he would definitely know it it's pretty famous tbh
The ECO is something else.
Natrium klorid angrepet sounds more terrifying than it is xD
Magnus is like the Gourdan Ramsey of Chess
Wow at the end Magnus is still only human I thought he knows everything
he should defend his title by playing a4 h4 and every wacky opening known to man
This guy deserves to be eternal 😀
Just wanna state that Na's real name is Natrium, the English speaking folk just name it wrong for some reason.
Edit: Added "speaking"
Magnus won with the weird oppening, GOAT
@Zilla Magnus won with the Sodium attack against Naroditsky otb. You clearly know nothing.
1:30 me thinking at least I know more than Magnus about the periodic table
1:38 nevermind Magnus still knows more than me
At least Magnus put some respect on B4 my most successful opening on Lichess according to my database but not my fav
Na= Natrium = Sodium tho, i think he was right
He was, they said so
Where can I find Magnus's hoodie?
Could you draw the creepy crawly against Fischer? I think so.
1. H4 h5
toilet variation what an epic name.. i lke it! ~magnus carlsen
Kramnik and Topalov: they stole our name!
What is name of that chess set?
and here is our lagendary world no.1 chess grandmaster Mr.Magnus Carlsen...Defeating him will be impossible
Me watching this while im taking a shi...😂
Hears about the creepy crawly just a minute or two before, plays it against a GM, wins...!! Thats Magnusification at its best...!!
nice PUMA gear bros
You forget about Elshad Openning.
he just beat a gm with the creepy crawler lol
I fully expect Magnus to study some creepy crawly and implement it in the next Champions Chess Tour, lmao
Irrefutable evidence that the creepy crawly is pure magic on the board that yields an undeniable advantage. If Magnus can win with it, then anyone can!
Na is Natrium that’s why it’s Na !!
Na could and should stand for Napalm.
Naaa..
David is like a noob to magnoos
Na = Natrium. Meanwhile in English Na = "sodium"
I'm just sad he didn't play the bonclould
Yeah u show him Na3 and then the mad guy bullies danya with it
I thought that the Orangutan was 1.g4, not 1.b4?
The first one (the rat) Magnus plays all the time in his banter blitzes
- Do you prefer Open Sicilian variations or the Najdorf ?
- No I do not like both of them,In fact I prefer the toilet variations
Mike Basman who invented the Creepy Crawly, used to play it in classical games and beat some GMs with it. Embarassing
These names are quite funny.
3:50 and if if was a fifth we'd all be drunk🍻🍻
Magnus is cool in this video!
Nice!
