A Sea Dragon preying on Man o’ War Ships and Sailors is very fitting
And then zombifying the crew so they can protect the dragon while riding on his wings?
@David Single So that is the new right wing conspiracy?
@David Single Well, I am sorry for assuming... gotta learn despite daily unwanted reminders of the contrary, there is diversity of political background on the independent research scene. I took the liberty to make quick and limited researches related to the things you said, just sad attempts at trying to infom myself. I hambly ask that you take a look at these links so to tell me if I am on the right path to understanding your positions:

Hope I am not sounding too silly
It looks something out of Subnautica. But the fact it's a real thing is just amazing.
It looks more like something out of Panzer Dragoon in my opinion!
Life really can be stranger than fiction.
Cooler than any Pokemon I seen by a mile
The sting stealing aspect is interesting, but what really shocked me is the fact that they're upside down!
I’ve got stung by a Man o’ war, and I can promise you I’ll never go near these things if they hurt THAT much.
Also, you can hear the smile in his voice at 2:50
I bet it didn’t feel as bad as this toothache that I have rn
@@claysoggyfries well if we’re talking about pain, ‘YOU HAVENT FELT TRUE PAIN’
-Me 2019
Scale 1-10, how bad was it?
Beyond your feeble mind, in other words ∞
@@supasquid6698 feeble 😂
When I first saw this creature, I didn't believe it was real - I thought it was an artistic rendition of possible extraterrestrial life. I was blown away by the imagery of this creature and had to know more. Thank you for featuring this beast!
Extraterrestrial for sure.
@@bigpapaboomboom9735 ugh...
The world is incredibly weird ever before leaving earth, google the mantis shrimp and be blown away, its able to punch water so hard that it leaves a bubble that heats up to 3000 degrees for one moment.
We love to assume our technology it separate from nature....but we are simply an extension of nature, anything we make is also an extension of nature.
I like how death is considered a symptom of being stung by one of these. Still remains my favorite slug
Loved looking into these animals! I did a whole art project on them back in highschool :)
Whenever I think I've seen all animals on Earth, you always come with something completly wild.
I clicked as fast as possible when i say there was a new *Animal Of The Week* video, cause this series is awesome, and cause Ben G. Thomas is awesome.
A Portugese Man o’ war is not a jellyfish, it’s a siphonophore
Well, a jellyfish isn't a fish.
That was the first thing I thought of when I heard that section of the video. Had to check the Wikipedia page for Portuguese Man o' Wars just to be sure.
The most extra slug!
also looks like something straight out of Spore
i love this creature, it looks so alien and cute at the same time
This is now one of my highest regarded sea creatures. If it eats those venomous jellyfish (that we call bluebottles), it is my friend. I promise not to touch any if I see them.
I like to imagine that these are just the larva form that eventually grows into real sea dragons.
Nudibranch is just one of those words that is fun to say.
Could you please do an animal of the week on Siphonophores(particularly the deep sea ones)?
praya dubia 😍😍
He needs the info himself if he thinks they are jellyfish, so great suggestion 😅
Hey that's Dvalin
So many movies would be much better if dragons actually looked like this

@@Zenocius yes!!
Stormterror
Namielle. Kinda.
I've always loved nudibranchs, after the first time I found one on the Oregon coast. It looked like a cartoon alien.
"It's a new week and so a new animal must ascend to animal of the week" bruv why does it sound like you're sacrificing them for a ritual-
How has this thing not been turned into a Pokémon already?
Part of Kyogre's design is supposedly based on them.
This little guy reminds me of the Reef Glider from The Future Is Wild. Both are predatory sea slugs and prey on the similar creatures (the Portuguese Man O War and the Ocean Phantom, as both are siphonophores)
Really wish I could have these as pets
Great video! Never heard of this creature before. Thought it was not just fascinating, but beautiful. Thank you.
WTF?! Until today, I never heard of the Blue Sea Dragon. A couple of years ago, I made a creature in Spore that looks A LOT like the Dragon. Mine wasn't blue though, it was black with bright yellow stripes.
So many sea slugs look like Pokémon
this appeared on every "top 10 most dangerous animals!" videos
What an Earth 🌎 we live in, am I right...
Ye
@Generic User 123 And soon we'll be taking over Mars...
This seems overdue, and right on time.
Glaucus atlanticus is a truly fascinating species. I didn´t know that they live in the baltic sea too. Interesting!
Quick note on the picture shown at 2:48 regarding penis fencing: I think this is a plathyhelminth of the species Pseudobiceros bedfordi, many marine plathelminths are also known to do that.
one of the coolest looking animals!
During the beginning the animal looked so beautiful that I wanted to have one in a tank. Then, when you explained about their stingers I rapidly changed my mind. I'll just look at the pretty pictures you provide and continue to be amazed at the innovations that nature comes up with.
When I say that there was a new Animal Of The Week video,I knew I was in for a good ride.
Also this was good vid.
That is the spitting imagine of the dragon from Panzer Dragoon!
Beautiful colors
Woke up and saw this, I'm happy now :)
I actually saw one when I was on vacation in Italy. Just for a moment tho. Still cool creatures.
Cute little dragon
Always gonna keep watching, keep it up mate, too interesting!!!
Beautiful
this is one of my favorite animals, thank you for making a video about them!
Nice! Love your channel mate always nice to see you upload another video
i have always loved this one

Something tells me he’s struggling to keep a straight face
Damn you, now I want some. Guess it can go on my wish list of extremely unusual animals. Cassowaries are pretty high up there now that I am able to have an appropriate enclosure for them. Lol I live in Washington state so my wish list is much more limited than if I lived in Australia.
There will no fossil be of the amazing creatures. No one in the future will know about their shape and beautiful colors. Fascinating animals.
They could be partly preserved in sediment
Looks like a new Elder Dragon for the game Monster Hunter.
it reminds me of xeno jiva
When my mom was young, she went to the beach and encountered a Portuguese man o' war. Even though she didn't know what it was, she touched it because she thought it was cute. She said she didn't remember feeling any kind of pain. To this day, I'm not sure how she survived. She told me about this when we were both reading about the Portuguese man o' war.
You can't fool me, that's a Pokemon
A couple of these washed up with Man-O-Wars on Durban Beach South Africa, I held around 5 of them without knowing they were venomous, finding out later at home, somehow avoided getting stung, sheer amount of luck
However I have been stung by a Man-O-War when I was young, the pain was insane as a child...
Brilliant as usual.
Amazing, thank you for teaching me something new.
There is an entire community of animals that live associated with the sea surface; they are referred to as "neuston." As you noted, neustonic animals are often blue or silver for countershading and concealment in a brightly-lit environment; they are about the only animals in the ocean that have to worry about ultraviolet radiation, as UV is rapidly absorbed by sea water (think of them as getting sunburned!). Glaucus is common throughout the open ocean, not just along the coasts. I have encountered them out in the equatorial Pacific, about due south of Hawaii. Other blue neustonic animals include the Portuguese man-of-war, which you described, as well as Velella, the by-the-wind sailor, and the blue snail Janthina, which blows a bubble raft for buoyancy. Thanks for an entertaining video.
I remember doing a project on this thing when I was in fourth grade.
-they float on the surface of the water
-they swim upside down
So you're saying…they walk on the underside of the water's surface using the air as if it were the ground?
Whoa dude youre destroying my brain
Another awesome video thanks.
Excellent vid on an unusual sea life, thx a million and keep up the great vids 🖒 ... cA
That thing looks awesome!
Living in Australia, I guess I discovered he North & South Pacific Species in 1969, but my dad told me they were baby Blue Bottles (Portugues Man o' War Kelly Fish). So guess he discovered them long before that & someone had set him straight with misinformation long before he offered it to me.
Nice to know though, that as a 4 year old, I was pondering something 45 years before it was officially discovered.
I once saw some at the west coast of Mexico
Wow, so far I had only known they look fantastic. Fascinating slug.
That is a beautiful animal.
This music is far too chill for this savage sea dragon. 10/10 never want to meet one
He sounds so happy talking about the Blue Dragon.
So these things look like Oceanids from genshin impact? Cool
It's like a Final Fantasy boss.
Such cool little critters 😁
So this is what they used as the model for the "Void Sprites" in the game "Endless Sky"... SERIOUSLY bad-to-the-bone aliens that can wipe out all but the most well armed and armored ships in the game with a single shot. You DON'T want to mess with them until you're big-time high-level, in a god-like ship, preferably with a fleet at your back. Even then, you've got nearly no chance of surviving - I've actually completed the game multiple times, effectively taken over the entire game universe, and using the profits, bought up and taken huge fleets of ridiculously powerful warships into their system, and STILL haven't succeeded in getting a kill on one before getting wiped out.
Back in my day the only blue sea dragon I knew of was Gyarados
Yay! Blue Sea Dragon.
This is the start of the Covenant...
If only Errol Flynn could do fencing like that!
I love these things
This is one animal that needs to be a Pokemon. It just looks like a pokemon normally
Oh yeah, this is part of Kyogre's design, along with orcas and the Leviathan.
Yes, my favorite small sea slug
A sea slug. Imagine is all other sea creatures dying and they're the only left behind.
Definitely the sort of critter that would be a rad fantasy creature if you just scaled it up to enormous size
They are beautiful
You guys should do an episode on the spotted lanternfly
I know these as Blue angel slug in common name, as sea dragons to me are a fish in the pipe fish, sea horse family.
woah thats cool. thananimal
This would make a dope pet.
The best sea slug
By the look of that map, they only like the East Coast of places, maybe it's a Sunrise thing?
Cool
I knew of these animals but didn't know a lot about them. Cute, little venomous bastards.
I found one of this sea dragon in ashe county nc in fresh water
I did a project on these in Environmental in HS.
It’s so cute 😍😍😍
Just saw this in a list an hour ago, or 2
Tiny Legiana.
new favorite animal
I’ve seen them washed ashore in Hawaii.. also pink janith , but eat jellyfishes
Imagine swordfighting your bro to see who's gonna be bottom.
Can you do a video on Navanax inermis at some point? Thanks
Funny thing is I knew this for years
Last video makes me wonder how come do try to avoid floating birds or ship's .
I tried searching it and couldn't find it, but how do birds manage to eat them safely?
I assume their beaks allow them to get away with safely nibbling off the stingy bits.
Looks like something straight out of Spore
