Their “Bolero” was one of the greatest and most iconic skating routines in history! It was a truly mesmerizing moment! 🤩🥹❤️
It is the greatest with no close second, not "one of". Nobody has ever come close to the skill level of Torvill and Dean. Queen Kamila is the greatest hope and only because she never had to contend with the timing of a partner.
Да " Болеро" потрясающе! но и "Цирк", "Пасодобль","Навстречу музыки" и много других прекрасных композиций👏💕
@@kiandrah8517 "Queen" Kamila doesn't count because she is on drugs and also comparing a pair to a single skater is silly.
I remember watching it live, it wasn't ''one of'' the greatest and most iconic staking (sic, I think you've been google spellchecked) routines, it was THE greatest and most iconic skating routine every. It will NEVER be equalled.
Fun Fact: Jane and Chris began their 'Bolero' routine on their knees because the music was 18 seconds longer than the rules allowed...but they spotted a loophole which said that the clock didn't start until the first blade touched the ice. The rules were actually changed afterwards to close this loophole.
Hello James Acaster
@@m3erwThank you!! I was trying to remember who it was I heard say they were inspired by this recently! Acaster's interview with Rob Brydon.
Really interesting, thank you! So close to not having that wonderful performance!
Oh dear, am I really that old. Watching this stunning pair 40 years ago was mind-blowing.
I am greatful to be this old. It means I experienced watching Torville and Dean's performance in 1984, AND I am still alive! 😊
@daniellamcgee4251 I was 26, and totally mind blown. So many time I watched their performance slack jawed.
40 years ago watched this live, it was just so beautiful and completely different to anything we had seen.
Or ever seen absolutely core graphically danced by torvil and dean - hence their win in 1984
I watched this with my Mom (a British transplant to the US) during the Olympics. She loved ice-skating. Remembered how breathtaking the routine was. This popped up on my CZcams thread. My mom passed not long ago. This brought back so many memories we shared, like Torvill and Dean. ❤
Sorry for the loss of your dear Mum. 😔🤗
I will never forget their routine of "Bolero" it was MESMERIZING! 💜
Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!
I watched their performance in Sarajevo, via television, with tears streaming down my face, blown away by how beautiful these two skated together. The choreography to this piece of music was so moving. I will never forget what I witnessed. It was incredible.
I was just a kid but will always remember that routine, the music and the outfits. For them to do this in their 60s is very impressive!
Torvil and Dean are the best I have EVER seen. I saw them 40 years ago and cried!
They changed dance forever. Happy Gold Medal Anniversary.
They were magical when skating. The chemistry was so bonded. Most dancers don’t have that nowadays. Most are going for all the extra tricks and leaving the skating as an afterthought. Torville and Dean did both to perfection.
Да!! они волшебники🙏💕
Tortilla?? 😂
@@jinglei95,Torvill,
I’m guessing that’s an autocorrect!
Don't need to say the were when they are magical when skating.
Fun Fact … I used to take ice skating lessons at Nottingham Skate Rink strait after their training sessions for the Olympics 😊 we were so proud of them when they won !!! 🙌
...... I remember watching them with my dad............. was it REALLY forty years ago??
.... good to see they've still got it.
The legends are back... we never forget their amazing performance ... who also cannot believe it is alredy 40 years ago? Time flies....
Always will be best in the world
I was in Sarajevo (in Yugoslavia at the time) in 1984. It was beautiful. It was so heartbreaking to see how the city was destroyed in the Bosnian war a few years later. I'm so glad that it has been rebuilt and is beautiful again.
The reconstruction of the city was very fast. The problem was that the Olympic facilities were mostly abandoned because they were battlefields
Torville and Dean!!! I remember watching their ice dance live some 4 decades ago and just being mesmerized by the softness of their leg and foot movements and amazing synchronicity!!! They had an unrivaled elegance that’s difficult to articulate - you have to see them. Their performances had a way of drawing you in …in a way that I haven’t seen replicated by any other ice dancing pair. These days ice dancing is such a frenetic jumble - and at the expense of the graceful flow and rhythmic beauty. To me, Jane and Christopher defined the sport, and I’ve yet to see any others match their✨ magic. ✨
How awesome to see them skating together again! And impressive!!!
Their original performance still sends chills down my spine.
Fareweel Torvill and Dean! Thank you for beautifull performances and after that your work as coaches. You guys meant a lot to the skating world. I wish a good time in your retirement. The best of luck And a good health!
They still have the magic. Forty years ago seems like four minutes. Some of those who saw them in the Olympics are using walkers now!
one of the greatest moments of all time in the history of the Winter Olympics. Even forty years later, I still get goosebumps when I hear the first bars of Bolero. Thank you Jayne Torvill, thank you Christopher Dean.
Greatest of All Time
Gold medallists...superb dance
Truly the greatest EVER !!!
I remember seeing the opening act of the Sarajevo Olympics..there was such hope for peace in the air that year....and then we had this magical dance ❤. May we all get along and remember we are all in the same family ❤❤❤
❤❤❤
I remember watching their olympic performance on TV as a teenager. Incredible to see them still so graceful 40 years on. They are 65 and 66 years old now!
😮 they are in good shape for thier ages . I was curious how old they are! Wish I was in as good shape.
These two are the reason I love watching ice skating, they are perfection and no others have come near them . I'm so proud of them. ❤❤
They were legendary and always will be. Bolero was magnificent! Such wonderful memories.❤️
So Beautifully Legendary! Torvill and Dean. They still have it! Looking so so good.
Wonderful duo
I was a teenager when they achieved that perfect score in Sarajevo. Best performance ever, their Bolero is simply unforgettable and perfect. ❤
I remember their Bolero performance in 1984 it was utter magic and perfection. They brought the Bolero to life. My best friend and I did a massive painting of them for an art project! 😅
They’ve never stopped dancing together.
The best there's ever been, and the best there will ever be. Full stop.
One of the most magical performances ever!
Saw Torville and Dean at the NEC in the early nineties, didn't expect them to carry on for so long. All kudos for them for doing this for so many years. od
That Bolero routine many years ago was magic, just magic!
I remember watching them do that magical routine. What a work of art. No one has surpassed it, in my eyes.
Oh my! I watched Torvill and Dean forty years ago! They were GRAND! So glad to see them together again ♥
I just watched their winning routine from 1984. It was mesmerizing and breathtaking. They expressed the music perfectly. Being their age and still so active and elegant on ice is just awesome.
40 years!! I saw their performance at the Olympic live and that was the most impressive one ever!!
I love Torvill and Dean , i have seen them live, ,my Mother adore them ,she died 26years ago. She worship them.
I watched, when it was live on tv and love Bolero to this day. I was moved to tears when it was performed. Truly stunning accomplishment for Jayne, Christopher and their choreographer.
Wow, it's hard to believe that it was 40 years ago that I watched their LP while sitting in my room at my late parents' house. Amazing that they were still doing some of the lifts here. Arguably the best ice-dance team to have ever graced the ice.
I actually preferred their Pase Doble dance, with the matador and cape, to Bolero. THAT was spectacular!
Dang, I never expected them to do all of that. Pretty amazing after all these years. That goes to show how great they really are.
It was unbelievable then and still is.
Wonderful.
I SKATED IN AN ICE SHOW WITH THESE GUYS AFTER THEY HAD WON, IT’S A FOREVER MEMORY FOR SURE.🏅🏅
Amazing.
Still one of the best ice skating routines ever. Pure magic, truly iconic 🇬🇧
Remember watching them.... they were awesome
Приятно вместе с этой замечательной парой вспомнить свою молодость!
I watched their famous performance live on TV and I remember that moment to this day. For me, as a figure skating fan, their performance was like a Copernican revolution in science.
Such an artistic pair. A bright light for skating as art
It’s insane how good they still are
It was so beautiful watching them back then and mesmerizing seeing them now.
Lovely respectful comments from such a talented couple best wishes to you all
They are still amazing ice dancers! I judge all ice dancing couples from Torvill and Dean's stunning performance of Bolero in 1984. Ice legends! 💜💜
Will never forget. Bless them both.
OH MY
Where have those years gone - just flown by
I remember watching this on the BBC and it was memorising. It was and still is an iconic piece of sporting history
I can relate it to the summer Olympics of 2012 Usain Bolt or Bob Beamon long jump in 68 Olympics
🏴🏴🏴🏴
Your making it sound like this was the first time they danced together again. They are still dancing together occasionally , just not in competitions. Have you seen Dancing on Ice in the U.K.?
Such impressive skaters
they were just so beautiful together on ice
These two were magical.
They were spectacular. Just amazing art.
I remember watching this beautiful skating routine on television during the 1984 Olympics and the goosebumps that it gave me. The choreography and routine was so perfect, so mesmerizing. I'm thrilled that we now have the ability to watch it again and relive that moment.
I am so old because I remember watching them win.
Me too.
Legends!👏👏🩷🩵🎉
Happy Anniversary, Jane and Christopher! Loved it 40 years ago. Love it now. 🎉
Dear Lord! We were young...they were awesome! No match.
I immediatly knew it must be Torvill&Dean. I watched their Bolero live, I was very little, but it was so impactful that I remember that vividly. Always ❤❤❤
I was just thinking about them. I am glad to see them state again.
I remember being mesmerized by their performance of Bolero. 👏
The Bolero was gorgeous. I was transfixed by it.
The best. Ever. Their shows after 1984 were astounding. I'll never forget 'Missing', among many other great numbers.
My favorite was “Bridge Over Troubled Water.
@@sandranorman5469 YES!
I remember when the first skated. They were beautiful and amazing then and still just as much. Bravo!
They are still a Ten! 😍
Wonderful! Fantastic that they are able to that at this age. Congratulations! Very moving indeed.
Awesome
How can this make me cry after 40 years😢❤?
Greatest figure skaters of all time! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Torvill and Dean (and John Curry and Robin Cousins) changed ice skating for ever. ♥ We can never go back to little wooden soldiers on ice.
Thx u 4 these and God bless u both
The composition was superb❤
Bravo! They are and forever will be legends! What they did for Ice Dance will never be surpassed! 👏❤️
Always my favorite.
40 years…so long ago, yet only yesterday…
Pamietam ich występ w Sarajewie potem świat wygladał już inaczej nawet dzisiaj po 40 latach kiedy oglądam ich wystep ciarki mam na plecach nikt potem nie zrobił czegos podobnego
That was wonderful! Thank you from someone who saw your original performance! ❤️❤️❤️
The greatest ice dancers of all time.
They spoiled me for any other skate dancing pair (except, perhaps, for the Duchesnays, whom Dean coached). Inventive and surprising choreography supported by exquisite, rock-solid technique. The commentators were always impressed with their edges. How amazing to see them skate again!
Not Forgotten 💕🙋♀️🌹
Forty years, really? That made me feel old!
Britain's best deserved, most memorable and most glorious Olympic gold medal win ever.
Brilliant -- but she didn't "die on the ice."
I saw it on TV in '84, it was breathtaking. By the end of the routine, I was standing and cheering by myself, tears in my eyes. It broke new ground. Started a whole trend of skaters dying on the ice for years, until everyone got tired of it. Still: they brought ice dancing into the 20th century, and influenced figure skating, too. Great to see them.
I loved this routine! :)
