Hey OHara, I like your theory. You are intelligent and smart to be able to piece this together and it was really good. I wonder what you personally think the one piece is? I recently had a revelation and I think I now understand what the one piece is. It has alot to do with luffys secret dream beyond becoming king of the pirates. I also think this is the reason Roger was laughing at laugh tale.
It was a pirate flag that belonged to joy boy from 800 years ago. And it also explains luffys/Rogers absurd dream that they shared together. Roger laughs because he understands in that moment that his dream will indeed come true. He was just too early to see it happen. 🏴☠️💪🍖🍻

Haven't watched the entire video yet but my guess is that dragon is rocks and after finding out his goals garp and Roger decided that rocks should change his name to hide his identity.
Kinda mirroring what happened with koby, luffy and Sabo where all 3 are parts of different groups but kinda support eachother.

Actually Garp stated that Dragon is his son, after the water 7 arc when garp attacked Luffy and the crew he said „how can the son of my son underestimate me“ .
To be fair, Garp could still mean Dragon as his ADOPTED son. Just like how Luffy says that Ace and Sabo are his brothers, even though they aren't related by blood.
Sengoku considers Rociante his son. Don (a Fishman) considered humans - Franky and Ice San his children. Chopper is Hilluks son.

I do indeed believe that Rocks D Xebec is Luffy 's Grandfather but dew to other circumstances. I believe that During the God Valley incident where Garp and Roger defeated Rocks, that's where Garp found Rocks' son, Dragon. He decided (like Odin decided with Loki) to save the young boy and bring him into his family, where he did indeed meet with Luffy's mother and fell in love. This is what made Roger entrust his son to Garp. The fact that he saw that happening once before!

I see it more like Roger left to become a pirate because he was dying and didn't expect to have a family. Rocks had Dragon, and became a pirate so he can change the world into a better place for his son. Garp wanted to be a pirate, but seeing Rocks leave Dragon, adopted Dragon and became a Marine so Garp can have some freedom while also being able to have a family. Garp probably gained fame and fortune by also taking bounties: so Roger& Rocks can also become Marines. When Roger found out he was going to be a dad but was too sick, he trusted the only person he knew that wouldn't be hunted: Garp, the man that sacrificed total freedom for a family. Garp now having both the sons of his best friends, felt like he had no choice but to tell them when they became old enough to understand: Dragon is the son of a man who tried to change the world and Ace is the son of the most free man in the world. Of coarse, things didn't go as planned, but he still sees them as his family, and was even fighting with himself when one became The Most Wanted and the other getting executed

Rocks' devil fruit possibly was the darkness fruit. Blackbeard knew it and recognize it as the strongest fruit to ever exist, the required power to become the strongest man in the world.
That smile when he saw the fruit, it terrifies me everytime. Like he certainly sure the world is in the palm of his hand.

With all this Portugal X Brasil related theory, I was thinking about all "D." characters we know so far and it seems indeed there is a strong relation to Portugal and maybe Spain, wich were one of the pioneers in the great navigations and imperial expansion all over the world.
-Monkey D. Luffy: ODA said himself he would be brazilian.
-Portgas D. Ace: portgas looks a lot like Portugal and considering the fact he is luffy's brother and most brazilians descends from portuguese ancestors, that makes this bond between ace and luffy very symbolic. Roger also said to Garp that Rouge was somehow related to his family.
-Trafalgar D. Law: there is this cape trafalgar in spain where it happened a War envolving France, england and spain.
-Jaguar D. Saul: jaguar is the only big cat found in the Americas, mostly in Brazil and its name comes from the native americans by the way. Native americans whom were mostly colonized by Portugal and Spain.
- rocks D. Xebecs: the video already explores his roque brasiliano relation.
- the real blackbeard used Madeira (Portugal island) as one of his routes, he took wine from the islands and he had conflicts with spanish navy

It's definitely a compelling theory. Dragon would've been a teenager when Rocks died so I suppose Garp could've taken him in to try and steer him away from his father's path. Hopefully Oda will give us more details on Rocks soon.
Honestly, it would be super weird if Oda didn't eventually reveal more about Rocks. So far, his introduction only explained that the modern Yonko, Garp, and Roger shared a past and a huge battle with each other. Considering that Rocks is one of the few characters in the entire series who openly declared war on the World Nobles themselves (i.e. not just breaking the law like other pirates), I believe his legacy will have greater importance for Luffy soon.
Maybe Rocks left Dragon in Goa when he was a baby
I like to think Garp adopted Dragon before he became a marine. Garp probably did want to be a pirate like Roger and Rocks, except he understood that he wanted more than just freedom: he wanted a family. Roger left sick and didn't expect to have a kid, so at the end of his life he wanted Garp, the only person he trusted that wasn't going to be constantly hunted to take care of his Surprise. Rocks had Dragon, and left to change the world for the better by taking out the corrupt. Garp probably became a Marine to have some freedom and be able to support his own family and Dragon, he probably also went after bounties to show Roger and Rocks that they could also have fame and money without being pirates.

I like to think this theory is also parallel with Luffy,Sabo and Ace childhood adventure. Garp,Xebec and Roger could potentially be childhood friends but then separate to achieve their own goals,like Sengoku mentioned about the god valley incident,the only one that knows the full story is none other than Garp himself.
Perhaps the parallel might be broken a bit though, because Rocks is supposed to be the only member of the D. clan who is inherently evil

Sounds like an incredible fun shonen trio. Now I want a Prequel about Garp, Rocks and Roger sailing the Grand Line. Maybe even hinting what drove them apart.

Been saying this for a while. This makes sense and interesting. Also Luffy is from the Monkey family and he has a lot of Monkey parallels. In chinese mythology the Monkey king Sun Wukong was born from a "Stone". Stone = rock interchangable. Then it makes sense🤔
I think it makes sense that Garp became a Marine given where he grew up. The only difference with Luffy is that he met Shanks, which is the real catalyst of him wanting to become a pirate, then meeting Ace and Sabo who both wanted to become pirates as well.
From my recollection of the latest episodes with Uta I think luffy already wanted to become a pirate before shanks but met shanks and decided to join his crew then finally accepted he can’t join and to be a pirate king and better pirate and group then shanks. He still didn’t have his dream he told his brothers yet and luffy told Uta he doesn’t know his genesis yet to change the world but he will think of one like Uta’s dream

Sengoku talks about Rocks
His name was brought up for the first time in the series by Sengoku when Brannew was revealing the bounties of the Four Emperors or Yonko. The information about the existence of a pirate so fierce shook the entire fanbase as they had assumed that Gol D. Roger was the most feared pirate in the world.
According to Sengoku, Rocks' full name was Rocks D. Xebec. After reading his name, the first thing that comes to mind is that he also had the letter "D" in his name like other great pirates such as Gol D. Roger, Monkey D. Luffy, Marshall D. Teach, etc. Rocks was the captain of the infamous Rocks Pirates, a pirate group so nefarious that not even the crew members were safe. Rocks existed forty years before the current timeline, and he was considered to be the greatest threat to the authority of the World Government.
Who Were The Rocks Pirates?
Rocks Pirates from One Piece
The Rocks Pirates were incredibly dangerous even to their own friends. They were known for fighting and killing members of their own crew, which hints towards the discontent among the crew. The crew was filled with literal monsters such as Edward Newgate, Charlotte Linlin, Kaido, Shiki, John, etc. who went on to become popular pirates. With such powerful members, it is quite apparent that a single pirate crew could never dream of taking them down.
Thirty-eight years ago, the Rocks Pirates attacked the Celestial Dragons and their slaves on God Valley. The World Government had to take action as they could not afford to turn a blind eye to the attack, so they sent the Marines led by Monkey D. Garp to defeat the Rocks Pirates. However, it was quite obvious that the Navy could not accomplish such a ginormous task on its own and required help to take them down. This led to Garp forming an alliance with Gol D. Roger, which lead to the defeat of the Rocks Pirates. After their captain's death, the Rocks Pirates disbanded and the God Valley mysteriously disappeared, and Garp went on to be named as the "Hero of the Marines."
Rocks was arguably the strongest pirate of his generation. It took more than just the Marines to defeat him, which hints that he was a monster. Also, it is important to remember that the Rocks Pirates were known for infighting, and it would take an extremely powerful person to lead them. Kaido placed Rocks among the handful of characters who could actually hurt him in a fight, which makes the latter even more impressive. It is unclear whether Rocks possessed some kind of devil fruit, but it would be plausible to assume that he did.
Many theorists have predicted that Rocks possibly had the Goro Goro no Mi, a logia type devil fruit that allows its user to create and manipulate lightning. The devil fruit's power is immense and if used properly it could easily wipe off an entire island. After Rocks' death, the World Government could not get their hands on the Goro Goro no Mi, so they decided to look for a devil fruit that could counter the Goro Goro no Mi. This devil fruit was the Gomu Gomu no Mi, which is why the World Government was protecting the devil fruit, but unfortunately for them, Shanks stole it, and it was later eaten by Luffy.
Rocks D. Xebec had a great deal of ambition. He openly proclaimed that he wanted to become the King of the World. This could possibly mean that he wanted to claim the Empty Throne, which is currently occupied by Im. Rocks had a great deal of interest in the secrets that the World Government was keeping hidden from the rest of the world. Rocks D. Xebec had no qualms about killing Celestial Dragons and considering that the World Government sends Admirals to defeat the attacker shows that Rocks was confident in his abilities as a fighter.
According to a popular theory, Rocks and Blackbeard might be related in some way because the name of Blackbeard's ship is Saber of Xebec. It could very likely be that Blackbeard might be trying to accomplish the same thing that Rocks couldn't. Despite all his strength, not many people know about Rocks D. Xebec because he was able to uncover several truths about the World Government, so they decided to erase his name from history.

What if one of Vegapunk's jobs was to create an artificial Joyboy for Imu but continuously failed but he managed to learn other curious things (like feeding devil fruits to inanimate objects) while trying to determine what the Nika Fruit was and why it was so special.
Any vague physical resemblance, especially for a character who has only appeared as a silhouette, is especially irrelevant in a series that has repeatedly changed designs after silhouettes were first shown of them and where physical resemblance is often more connected to will than bloodline. Good example being Nami looking very similar to Bellemere despite only being raised by her.

If you think she looks like nami then you can count in literally 95% of the females since oda has the same „cute girl“ face with different eye pallet and hair style. rebecca looks like nami, vivi looks like nami, Shirahoshi looks like nami lol. It’s just the art style. Also silhouette actually were changed very rarely, in fact only two cases i know of right now are kaido, and greenbull. Maybe bigmom but she looked just like i imagined here before we saw her actual design, so the silhouette was pretty close. Also i think kaidos first design was only changed because oda was unsure about him back then. There is no way in hell oda finalized an exact look for kaidos look 900 chapters prior to his initial appearance lol. Xebec is a character mentioned and shown only recently and op is going near its end at this point, most of the story and the characters are revealed. Xebecs design will be pretty close 100%
I've been saying rocks and garp are both his grandpa's for years. I got laughed at for years for saying this. If true luffy grandfather's are Ying and yang. I believe that it's the opposite way that you think because garp is shown as good but technically evil because he does what the celestial dragons will. Then xebec is shown as evil for going against the celestial dragons but was actually good that's why garp hates the celestial dragons so much.

I don't know if this is related at all, but something interesting I just noticed, if this theory is true, then it would seem that the government uses their island destroying weapon thing when there is a single person who is too dangerous: rocks and sabo being the only examples we have. Which also begs the question, why didn't they use this on doflamingo since they feared the information he possessed?

i have a theory in my mind about dr hiluluk being rocks d xebec because he is once a pirate going through depression of losing his crew and giving up his dream and had the same disease as roger and that also explain how dr kureha know so much about will of D She may be his crew doctor.

If Rocks was Luffy's grandfather, it would easily tie into the theory about Luffy's dream! My favorite theory in regards to his dream, is that Luffy's OVERALL dream is to be KING OF THE WORLD, and if the connection to Rocks is revealed to be true then that would make me view Rocks differently. Aso, I think wanting to be king of the world isn't a bad thing. Just look at some of the dreams Rocks' former crew members had. All of them come from a good place but are executed terribly. I like this a lot. Something I think strengthens the Garp portion of the theory even more is that he seemingly hates being called the hero of the marines moniker, or is at the very least indifferent to it, it brings him no sense of pride; what the marines view as his greatest moment, he views as his worst, and hates being given the constant reminder of taking down his best friend.

Here is another theory/thought what i really like and what i support. There is a theory/thought in the One Piece community that the commander in chief himself Kong is the true blood related father of Monkey D. Garp and the grandfather of Monkey D. Dragon and the great grandfather of Monkey D. Luffy that would be also insane in my opinion 😍.
I see it coming: Monkey D. Kong who is the absolutely head of the Monkey D. family who is the supreme leader of "justice" for the world government who is 100% for the world government and his son Monkey D. Garp wanted to become a pirate and wanted adventures and see the world, like Eiichiro Oda has drawn him as he was as a child when he was on the 🐅 back, that would mean his son wanted to become a pirate and not a marine like Kong was in the past, before he got the position as the commander in chief and this was terrible for Kong, because his both other friends weren't good for his son in his eyes the meaning are here Roger and Xebec.
After Kong was successful to bring his son Garp to the marine, he was worried about his grandson Monkey D. Dragon who wasn't in the marine and became a "criminal", who is also the blood related son of Rocks D. Xebec and Kong hate Xebec so much, much more than Roger!

This is a mind blowing crazy theory that is both interesting and entertaining to think about, but I have another idea. Ik this is a bit of a stretch but you know Outlook, Sabo's dad, what if Outlook was a son of Rocks like dragon just after being disappointed deeply in Outlook, Rocks somehow erased Outlook's memories and named him Outlook III just so nobody would get suspicious of Outlook's father. After all this would truly mean that ace Sabo and Luffy are relatives to roger rocks and Garp. Ik this is a bit of a stretch but it's fun to think about.

Though, I hate to break it but during Post Enies Lobby when Straw Hats were escaping from Garp and Luffy said "NO", it's when Garp lost control said " Boku no Kodomo no Kodomo", literally means My Kid's kid, which does imply linear heritage between the Monkeys. But, again it could simply be Oda playing with us along the lines. Can't wait for Rocks to be introduced in the story!!

I've literally said this in the comment section here, on BDA, KOL, and even tekking 101 channel that Garp neevr said dragon was his son, only that he was luffy's dad. Which gave the impression that Rocks could be Luffy's other Grandpa. Garp could be his grandpa on his mother's side. I've said this for a couple years now.

Rocks has the potential to be one of the best characters in the verse, I imagine him with the voice of all things, all 3 haki mastered and a devil fruit worthy of Imu to take for itself, also a mix of Good and evil so he could be carefree, not necessarily evil.

Something I have been thinking out is how I believe Blackbeard knew that Luffy was probably going to be Joyboy. I always think about his reaction when he was first named an emperor, "it's not your time yet".

And I could see Nami saying something similar about luffy if a young teenager joined the crew. Luffy is great, but he can be every irresponsible. As far as I am aware, the only conclusive evidence we have that Rocks was evil is that Roger and Garp opposed him. Which is solid indication that his dream was a bad idea, even if he had good intentions.

Big fan btw...according to your theory i think it will take both luffy and coby to beat blackbeard, due to the way oda parallels his work. And since we are in the final saga, i think the fight is close since coby has already been taken by blackbeard. Which makes me think the final villain isn't blackbeard but IMU. This is a really interesting theory. With how particular Oda Sensei is with his phrasing, Garp not calling Dragon his son definitely feels like it's hinting at something. Not to mention the silhouette of Rocks looks way to similar to my boy Rockstar.....I um-I mean Dragon. Not to mention Dragon doesn't really look that much like Garp, unlike Luffy who's the spiting image of his grandpa. Until Luffy goes gear 4. Then he looks remarkably similar to his father and even the silhouette of Rocks. Now Garp being a pirate similar to Luffy before becoming a marine makes alot of sense to me. I have one thought that came to my mind recently. You might know theory about monkey(kizaru), dog(akainu), bird(aokiji) and dragon(dragon), which if I am not mistaken some old Japanese tale. What if dragon was a part of world goverment and to be more accurate he was the head of CP0. This explains so much about him. In the past, I once believed that Dragon's actually the son of Rocks D Xebec, which would not only be a potential reason why he wants to oppose the world nobles, but probably why he & Garp don't get along. And if this was true, I could even think that this connection could make Luffy the Zuko of the One Piece series since he too had 2 famous relatives.
However, after reading chapter 1059, I have a different theory where Luffy's mom was actually the former ruler of Amazon Lily after Shakky, and before Hancock, which could pretty much give us a good explanation on why Luffy was sent there by Kuma (who knew his ties to Dragon before MF). But might slightly debunk this Rocks theory unless Oda has a way to fit that in with this former Kuja queen theory.

Haven't seen the video by now - but in my mind Garp adopted Dragon (the son of Rocks). He looks just like him and is probably super strong as well. Luffy inherited the will of Roger, while Blackbeard inherited the will of Rocks.
I feel like for this to be true there has to be some kind of foreshadowing/parallels between ASL and this new trio. Maybe one member from each trio parallels the other? What if we applied the the two sides to the same coin concept from Yuderon?
Ace was like Roger as a kid and wanted to go on adventures and be free. I'm not sure how this two sides to the same coin concept would work here aside from the fact that one was the father and the other was the son.
Sabo was like Garp since Sabo saw the injustices and prejudice of the nobles firsthand and wanted to make a difference in the world. Potentially, Garp saw similar things happening but it was pirates and not the nobles that were doing nasty things. Garp then went to the Marines to bring justice against the pirates (and anyone that would threaten the WG) and Sabo would then go to the Revolutionary Army to bring down the WG and the nobles (which could also mean the Marines in the same process). The two sides to the same coin concept here would be that both wanted to bring justice, however, they were on opposing sides.
This then leaves Luffy somehow being like Rocks. The two sides to the same coin concept here, however, is that Rocks became pure evil and Luffy became pure good. There must be some kind of experience that Luffy had that Rocks had as well (similar to that of Sabo and Garp having similar experiences). The only difference is that Luffy went on to become good from that experience and Rocks went on to become evil.

A great theory overall. Could change some of it though. Them 3 being friends could have encountered sumthin about the history and they had different opinions about it. Roger was more like an archeologist wanting to know by studying it. Rocks just want to destroy the world government and the celestial dragons. Definitely want to destroy them cause he assembled those monster pirates knowing/hinting how powerful the celestials might be. I dont know. and garp want to change the navy from within just like you said.

Don't know if annyone else mentioned this but if we think about how Luffys abilities are inspired by Sun Wukongs from Journey to the west then it would be a fun little nod to Wukongs origins if Luffy is related to Rocks, a monkey (Luffy) born from Stone (Rocks). Not a super serious theory but just a fun thing to think about.

Garp is the leader of sword.
After you asked why would someone like him join the marines, this is one way to explain it.
That's why he never held a major position (admiral, fleet admiral) within the marines, because he is already leading sword. Also Coby and Helmeppo being in sword after Garp taking them in kinda hints at it.
