That Sinking Feeling... 36,000 lb (16330 kg) Basket Lift BURIED!!!

- Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching. Today, the Rotator and I have a bit of a tug-of-war going on with a JLG 860SJ basket lift weighing in at 36,000 lbs or 16300 kgs. Our Peterbilt 389X with a Miller Industries, Century 1150R rotator towing and recovery unit has plenty of power, but can it sit still? Will the ground hold it and the man lift? If so, this is still going to be a delicate task with many obstacles, including underground water lines, gas lines, buildings, soft ground, trees, and simple resistance. The Lift is certain to put up a fight!!! I'm "catching up" on some of my videos that I've been holding while working on the ECJV Eaton Cummins project. Thanks for you patience! I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

My common analogy, "there are many ways to reach 10". I could have approached this (any) job several different ways. The approach method is important, but more important is achieving the desired result, safely.
Again, a very special thank you to all my viewers, family, and friends who having taken the time to show their support. May God bless and protect you all!!!

Ron is always so gracious toward his clients, always saying “we’ve had so much rain here” and helping them feel a little less bad about being stuck.
If I were the property owner, the city would get REALLY tired of me & do something about that swamp they created. Maybe the owner needs to send them this tow bill. Thx, Ron!
I was thinking the same thing. If I was the owner of that company I would use this video as video evidence and then go after them (try to make them pay for) at least the tow bill and try to make them come back out and fix this correctly. That's completely unacceptable after the recent work they did.
always amazing to watch physics and geometry at work. the load multiplied by the depth was enough to move your 72+k truck. after freeing it and moving past the original stuck point. Great content as usual...
They should consider a lawsuit against the city about the underground water leak or at least the threat of one. They have way too much damage and can no longer have use of their own property because the water line is leaking.
I LOVE your recoveries with the 1150R. Looking forward to seeing more videos using it in the future. Keep up the great work, Ron. 😁
It's good to see a video from you again.
In middle of the summer heat it is refreshing to hear about the snow forecast. THANK YOU😀😀
Glad to see a new video. Since I've been watching a few months back I've almost got all your videos watched
Another Fantastic Job Ron!! You are as professional as they get my friend. God Bless!
Quick and easy!
Good job, Ron!
Great to see back and you doing what you do best Ron 👀👍
Goodness, you get some wild calls, Ron. Glad you clarified the date. Snow in July might be nice too.
I grew up in North Idaho. We did have frost on July 1st one year and it killed most of my mom's veggie garden. She wasn't able to can anything that year. With still having 5 children at home it was not a nice year!
That was a very interesting recovery from a sticky situation. It has been one very hot summer for you and I pray every day that you all stay safe. Thank you for taking time to make and share the videos. Stay safe and God bless.
Heat warning at the other end of the state today Friday. Northeast Missouri. Guessing they’re getting hit hard too.
Interesting job that one.... be interesting to see if there is a claim there for the ground problems from the waterboard by your customer. That level of ground sinkage is not acceptable following works like that at all! Anyways.. nice job as always Ron. Smooth and steady as she goes! The ol tator had a workout for sure!
I totally agree. Here in UK something similar but was an HGV that sank into the surface not long after some cables was laid. the company prosecuted and won the company that laid the cables did not use a compactor so ground was soft
In a bigger city, they would blame the business owner for breaking the pipe from driving that heavy equipment over it. 😁
Yep I agree with the customer here it sure seems like the city water pipe has a slow leak. I hope he gets reimbursed for this recovery.
Lucky it didn't turn into a sink hole.
Good morning rob & crew! Hope all is well with everyone. Keep doing a wonderful job Ron
I subscribed a few years ago.
I clicked like on the way in.
I watched video to end.
Here is my comment " Thank you for your time and talent kind sir". I'll share on my way out! 😊
I like your idea of lifting it level and then pulling it out. But the county or city SHOULD be held accountable for the screw up because it makes that area unusable
Well done Ron .
Always an interesting video from you and the gang .
Take care and stay safe.
I love your vids and content!! Keep up the great work!! Love the channel!!
We love watching all your videos Ron. We look all the time even thru the week. Thank God it's Friday. God bless you and your family. Stay safe .
Morning Mr Ron prayers for your family and all the employees have a blessed weekend I know you can get it out with no damage. You know what you are doing be safe slow and baby steps.
Think you Ron for another great video
As always fun to watch you work. You are a pro! Stay strong, stay healthy and BE HAPPY!
Great video and great job with the recovering and God bless from GA
As always you do a great job. Like the way you break everything down before you start. Keep the videos coming and take care.
I love your intro to the vlog.
Good cooperation produces results.
Lol I was thinking of all this elaborate rigging that you were gonna have to do and you went to the lift points that were MADE for that and I kinda went, "Oh". Nice.
You and your crew always does a good job. I'm one of your biggest fan
What a great birthday present! Wake up to a Ron Pratt video with no traffic, ARC nemesis, and a bad guess about trying to walk it out using it's own bucket to press the machine out of the hole.
I bet now you are longing for cold weather with as hot as this summer has been. I love how you make these jobs look so easy. Thank you for another video. God Bless.
Awesome video keep up with a great work and be safe out there.
Hello Ron, Nice east pull out there sir, as always an interesting one 🤓👍 I hope you are all keeping well and safe as possible, be blessed Ron, Family, and Co workers 🤓👍🙏 John in Wales 🏴 uk 🇬🇧
Wow those get stuck in the mud, great video 👍
Great video!!!! Thanks Ron 👍👍
Someone needs to get some concrete down. 😃
Another great video. 👍
Good morning Mister Ron, nice use of your knowledge and the ability of the rotator to get the man lift up and out of it's ruts and back on solid ground, physics, geometry and some winching power are all you needed, good safe job and the only thing that got hurt was someone's pride (just a little bit lol)
Slow down
Move over
God bless
Be safe
And watch out for motorcyclists, little kids, critters, and little old ladies going to Bingo
Nice to see the tator do it's thing. Last week's was very interesting, showcased new engines and am not sure every one appreciated the honor of being asked to come and partic
Not to nitpick but those 2 videos showcased new transmissions, not new engines. The trucks featured had Cummins X15 engines which have been in production with various improvements/updates for quite a while. I own 4 semi tractors with X15 engines and Rons rotator also has one. The automated transmissions were the stars of those videos. Ron seemed very impressed with them and, even though I'm planning to retire from driving myself in 2 years or so, I'll still be running my company. When it's time to update my tractors, I'll be giving them a good look.
Keep up with the good work Ron god bless you
Our daughter and grandsons just got here to spend the weekend and the very first thing that the boys asked for was Tator videos!
As always, be safe and God bless you, your crew and your equipment!
....lookin' good, nice recovery, keep well and safe..
Ron, love your sense of humor about the weather. It fits with mine. besides "where's the Blizzard?"
your forecaster is as good as ours, over here in the UK. The screen graphic showed rain, but in fact it was 40C in blazing sunshine! (and it NEVER gets as high as 40C in the UK!)
Thank you for showing the date when you recorded the job. Be nice if the date was stated at the start of each video, since sometimes it is weeks, or months before the video is posted.
Love all your videos. God bless and stay safe.
I wish we could see dates too, but I understand how that could get Ron into some legally warm water from time to time.
I just knew that you could get er done great video.Stay safe and blessed 🙏❤️
Ron, thanks for specifying the date this video was captured. I know we are experiencing strange weather shifts in NE Ohio but snow was too far fetched. Wishing you and your family a blessed week, gentle weather and restful evenings. Peace brother
I'm in Northwest Ohio and weather all over the world is going crazy. Over the last month or so here, every time we've received rain, the storms have been hard and heavy.
Wow i never realized how heavy those lifts were for that size. Another interesting puzzle to figure out every day from you lol. As always thank you for what you do every day Ron & be safe !!!
Nic e job as always Ron. Learned about applying all brakes to help the tow. Stay well. God Bless!
You made easy work of that one😆 I've made deliveries to several jobsites & have seen so many of those & telehandlers sunk. That was about the easiest way of getting one out.
So here in southern central Oregon, the last snow in 2022 was May 10th, but we had waffle weather for months. (I call it waffle weather when its 70's for a few days then 30's & snow, then 50's then 20's - This always happens in "Spring".) In March, had 10 days of either rain or snow, sometimes both same day, and 4 days at 70.
Great video, am always impressed at how you get things done with the rotator.
Wow, welcome back
@OddTechMan I totally agree with you. There is an underlying problem, broken water line, for sure. There is absolutely no way the ground would continue to be that saturated, unless there is an underground spring, and I would probably so no to that. Thanks for another great video Ron, I so enjoy seeing how you solve each and every job. God bless and stay safe.
Another great job! I knew you could do it!
Great job.ron 👍u and crew be safe as always 🙏
You made that,Look Easy!! Detroit Loves you guys!! G
4:00 Your weather... is normal up here for spring :) we can have 20C a few days, then below freezing and several inches of snow
This is different. Yeah soft ground vs heavy machinery soft ground wins every time lol. Tx Ron keep cool down there be careful & be safe.
Mudt agree with last comment always interesting none rescue content Keep safe &keep em posted.
Great video!!
Ron you are more then welcome to have the 100+ temps here in Texas. I will be glad to swap you weather.. Good morning from Fort Worth Tx :D....... OMG, I do not think I ever been first to comment on one of your vids.
My godfather is a tow truck driver and works in his own business his dad created and knowing someone that does this for a living make this content more enjoyable for me personally because I kinda get a idea of what he does
A little bucket work and it’ll be re leveled in no time. Nice work, Ron!
Good job Ron👍🇺🇸
I was thinking at the start, don't get the tator stuck as well. That winching brake is very effective.
Rutt-Roh!! Good job, Ron!!
RUT ROW! Nice job Ron.
man that stuff looked like quicksand!
Knowing that the old lady, No.11, was doing fine again, she might not be alone anymore. Seen on 7/22/22 at 3:44 PM.
i was real confued when you where talking about waiting for spring as im dieing in this summer heat lol then the text popped up about it being filmed in march
Nice job brother!
Great video
Wow this was different. Must have been a broken water line. Good job Ron. 👍👍👍❤️
I love watching your videos Ron. I’m not a tow truck operator but I learned so much from watching the videos. I know these types of jobs and tow jobs are expensive but I’m really curious as to how much all of these jobs you’ve preformed on costs.
Ron, I can't believe that you were able to help this guy. One look at the scene and you should have noticed that this was completely out of your wheelhouse. No ARC nemesis. 🤣🤣
Ron, that rotator is one heck of a versatile machine. I think when it finally expires, you should mount it on a plinth!! Obviously, there is mud and then there is Missouri mud, very deep and gooey. Stay safe. Best Wishes from the UK.
I recon we could use a couple of rotators on the west coast of the south island in New Zealand been a fan since i found your channel
All jobs I've watched have been interesting and inspiring. As for the water problem, part of the issue is the drainage ditch passing across the back side of the property. You can see the bridge on the roadway. The ground will soak up as much as it can before it hardens up
Ron thanks for sharing! Kevin
If the city put in a waterline and its that soft they failed to correctly compact the soil and/or failed to use correct materials to bury the new pipes.
Ron, I think if I were a recovery expert like yourself, I would get EXTREMELY frustrated with one of these 'Mud Pulls'.......... You handle it with your usual calm expertise.
Winches got a work out. Interesting pull out. Thanks.
Have a wonderfully blessed weekend
That was an interesting job. That ground was really muddy and soft. I did not know that lift weights 36,000lbs. Great job Ron .❤🇨🇦
Thank you so much for the video the video was really interesting please post two times a week video God bless
Much Thanks Ron.
Mike M.
I wish it was 70 here in south texas, its been a hell of a summer so far well over 100 every damn day. we are used to the heat but usually there are breaks in between.
Ron be real careful with that underground line , just in case that is a gas line , the LAST thing you would want is to have a gas leak/fire !! That could be VERY dangerous for everyone!!! It looked like someone parked it in a very bad spot!!! Should have had a blacktop behind the building, so that it wouldn't have happened!!!!!! Much love Ron and your family/team!!!! Stay safe in whatever you do on a daily basis!!!!! God bless you and your family/team!!!!!!!! Your friend Bob Compton from maryland. Thank God you found out that it's a water line, but they should have called Ms . Uility, to find out more about the underground line!!!!!!!
That was interesting it was really stuck bad and deep good job
Boom lifts are heavy! Awesome recovery
It's always nice to get an easy pick and go.
A video reorganizing your compartments would be great!
The locale looks like it might not be far from the shop, like where you pulled the Harley out of the mud.
Odd that after moving further away it added more resistance to the pull, enough to move the rotator.
Short or long, always informative and educational.
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota
I think it may have came out easier if you had another cable to lift the rear as well it may have come out more even or at least not sunk as much at the rear, but I'm on a couch you are there and done another great recovery, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Piece of cake!
Once again great job on the recovery effort! One question: how come u didn't put wood or metal plates under the outriggers/stabilizers? I was wondering if the outriggers were going to get buried too.
You’re a big cheer for Ron Pratt for an excellent job well done
I was thinking pick up on the low side and pull on the high side as well
AHH- good - time for my DAILY TATER!!!!! :)
Hey Ron seeing if y'all coming down to Miller Industries Wrecker show. Chattanooga, Tennessee in September ? Hope to see ya there. Keep up the awesome videos and Be Safe out there Brother.
