    Here in America we say, "Necessity is the mother if invention"! My guess is you Aussies say the same thing...except you do have kind of a funny accent. Not too hard to understand you though.

      Thanks for looking in Peter. I'm not doing much on CZcams at the moment due to work commitments over the next 2 months, long hours and 6 -7 days a week depending on the swing.

    Good fix Cam. Who wants to spend an extra $165! If it pops apart at some point, you can always scarf joint it and use some vulcanising/puncture repair glue, or contact adhesive.
    My home-built wood bandsaw uses undersized inner tubes stretched over a crowned wooden wheel (following Matthias Wandel's lead), and it works a treat.

      G'Day Craig, all up and running with a new blade and seems to work a treat. I phoned them up to confirm the price on their website and to also confirm if that was for just one off. Nearly feel off my chair when they quoted the price for 2 off plus delivery!

    Nice video Cam. A woodworking bandsaw has a crown to the tire because there is no lip around the wheel to keep it from coming off. On your bandsaw wheel you will not be in need of any camber or crowning of the wheel.

    • @camatbattler2233
      @camatbattler2233  Před 5 lety

      G'day KA, good to hear from you. That gives me a little bit more confidence regarding the lack of crown. I have a new blade in and it works a treat with no run-out.

    Hi Cam, just so you know you can buy the original tires from Fuho directly from taiwan and it is very cheap. They still stock most of the parts for these machines. I just ordered a box load of spares from them for a machine im busy rebuilding

    Interesting fix. Worked well.
    I have a Woodfast Junior wood band saw which I believe originally had rubber tires on the blade wheels, but they are long gone and like the metal bandsaw (which never had rubber tires) it works fine with no slip at all.
    So I wonder how important these rubber strips really are. Both saws align the bandsaw blade so that the tooth set aligns with a recess in the wheels and can't rub.
    Cheers Rob

      Yep, totally agree Rob, my horizontal Band-saw runs on steel rims without any problems. Anyway all fitted up with a new blade and works a treat.

    Hi Cam. Great video. Can you tell me what the store called the rubber you used? I have an old horizontal metal bandsaw that needs tires that are no longer available from the dealer. Thanks!

      @camatbattler2233  Před 4 lety +1

      G'day Norm, good to hear from you again. Hope all is still going well. The rubber is either Neoprean or Buna Nitrile, both types will work equally as well for this application. The rubber I used has the fabric mesh molded (2 layers) as part of it but you can get it without the fabric mesh which I think would work just as well. The material is 5mm thick x 50mm wide.

    Nice job. You might also try just flipping the old one inside out so the new rubber is on the outside...

    • @camatbattler2233
      @camatbattler2233  Před 2 lety

      G'Day Robert, it was pretty badly perished and cracked. At a pinch I could have tried to flip it but I think it would have cracked in half. It was a little bit of effort to make up the new one but at least I know it will never need to be replaced, at least not in my time. I've found the Band Saw to be invaluable and don't know how I did without it over these years. PS, love the Chiro Work
