- We had a decent run going on until the guy on the other Tuono went down. We were almost at the end of the second run I did with this group when it happened. Thankfully no one was injured and we were able to joke about it at the end.
I say this with peace and love, if you or anyone you know wants to do riding like this, twisty narrow roads full of traffic and other bikes, please take the time and educate yourself a bit on what it is you're attempting. You can do that by buying a copy of my riding bible....the extremely effective book
"Sport Riding Techniques" by Nick Ienatsch. Nick used to race AMA 250 2 strokes back in the 90's and hes now the head of the Yamaha Champ School. He knows what it takes and can convey it in a way the rider can understand and impliment. I have read his book a good dozen times and refer back to it regularly.
I referred the book to this guy, he has been riding only a few months although he was riding pretty good for being that new! If he stays w it he will be a damn good fast rider....he just needs some technique.
Anyway this was my first run with a group at the Dragon on this trip and with the new repave. I know it wasn't the fastest, (I like the pace to be a bit hotter than this) but it was still enjoyable enough. The road is pretty grippy already....hopefully it lasts a bit.
Enjoy the ride on 2 wheels at the new and improved Tail of the Dragon!

I bought the book on your recommendation and was not disappointed. It validated what I've learned over 35 yrs of riding and even had a tip I could immediately put to use to make me faster without feeling like I was going any faster.
That’s awesome to hear. Sometimes we just need a good solid reminder of some basics. Like the golf swing….always a work in progress.
Glad to see the rider was okay….🤙🏻
Glad to see he walked away! We have already lost 3 up there this year. Knowing the road is half the battle, too hot into a misjudged corner and it's over. Hard lessons are learned up there, I had mine years ago, too old to show off now lol
That guy on Tuono was riding crossed up, and which added extra lean angle. IHMO causing the crash.
What do you mean by “crossed up?”
He means his body weight was outside of the center line of the bike opposite direction of turn. Hes saying his body weight shouldve been to the inside in same direction of turn which helps to reduce lean angle.
Indeed. At those speeds, it is important to have the head at the inner mirror.
NOT THE TUONO FAM!!!!!!!
7 months and on one of the nastiest nakeds on the market? I'm gonna save my judgement, because I've done similar behavior with other high risk activities lol. Glad the rider is okay! Can defiantly tell he's been riding with #fastbois, looks like that corner he just got lazy and kept his upper body on top of the bike rather than getting it off the side and then pushed more lean angle than his peg would allow. also didn't trail brake into the corner and let the wheelbase extend when it needed to stay short to make that turn easier. It's easy to armchair analyze I guess, hopefully he's back at it and hitting the track to keep learning soon.
I had Nick Cipriano tune the suspension on the Tuono last time I had it at the track, holy cow did it make a difference! I couldn't believe how soft the Tuono was from factory. I leave it in auto most of the time on street, but if it's twisty i stick it back to the manual setting from the track, such a good all around bike man.
Me too....had my suspension done and whoa!!!! I got the semi active stuff but still needed to set sag. Once that was done after last suspension service my riding seemed improved drastically. It felt soooo much better! Imho suspension set up and forged wheels are the 2 must do's on this bike. The rims were a game changer too!!!
@@Antmanmoto I think if I get a Tuono for track I'll go the forged rout, or if I see a set at a price I can't refuse.... but after a few days I decided to get something smaller/cheaper for track and leave the V4 for the streets (2005 R6, full track build). I've got a couple years of needing to go back to fundamentals before being able to use a V4 on track lol. 25 years of riding sport bikes and the track absolutely humbled me.... also at an age where I'm open to being humbled I guess lol.
Hey, may I use this video in my next episode? Watermarked and linked to your channel of course.
Damn!!! Dragon claims another one. Tipped in a little too fast it looks like.
crash @12:30 . you're welcome.
your'e a no foreplay kinda guy eh? lol
Coming in a lil too hot! Glad he was good, I helped get the bike out the ditch, video coming soon! Lol
Gotta cover those controls at all times on the street. If he was, he could have bled off the speed with the front brake.
Can't wait!
He's learning
I know the feeling 😢😢
Crashed my in December

Bike for sale...never been dropped.
LOL! I think he's rebuilding it
Dumb.
Stfu you probably don't even ride, and people can make mistakes its this thing called learning. Even Motogp riders crash, you don't call them dumb.
Mistakes happen… If you’ve never made one, you’re a miracle human
