I used to work at a diptyque and we would give out those votive candles and larger sample sprays for free all the time. A nice luxury experience but also low key a scam for that price? Lol

@@heather1980 mostly with purchase! For example if someone was showing interest in a certain perfume but ended up buying something else, we’d often give them the large sample sprays to take and see if they like it. But there were times we did just simply give them to people as well

Thanks Lauren! This was fun. You know, I just saw a review of the $5,400 Dior calendar. It was mostly fragrance and when she added up the items, they came to $3,400ish! So the calendar was.almost $2k overpriced😲Some of these calendars are definitely not a value but for experience only.

Agree! Here in the subtropics it comes across as mysterious and heady in a vintage way. I actually love it for summer evenings - it has that slightly stinky thing going on that reminds me of flowers cooling in the night air after a hot day.
Eau Duelle is my favorite scent from Diptyque (I prefer the EDT slightly but I also like the EDP). L'Ombre Dans Leau is also a favorite of mine though lol! It's really lovely in spring and summer. Its kind of the perfume version of the Bais candle. I agree that the Jo Malone calendar is a little better than this one, but I am a big fan of both houses.

I used to hate Tam Dao when I first tried it and now it's my signature scent! Its a meditative scent very relaxing and mysterious.
It’s such a lovely scent! And I love that Lauren described it as a basement, it is very magic on the skin ✨
I love green scents for work. I particularly like whatever leafy thing with lemon when I’m behind the bar.

Idk Lauren, I think you might have sold me on this calendar for next year! I don't mind that the value isn't what it could be, but the exploration aspect definitely appeals to me! It also helps that I love votives and perfume minis!
I find that I always have to let diptyque fragrances dry down to get a true feeling for them. Tam dao is so addictive but the initial spray can be a lot lol

EAU DUELLE EAU DE TOILETTE i bought for my birthday for 2023. IM AM SO SATISFIED AS Vanilla lovers. Very earthy vanila and i love it so much, i might buy the EDP next. Since this is my 1st Diptique perfume,HOPE U Can buy em next

Since having COVID I have to try EVERY fragrance on my skin before I buy it. My body chemistry will make 80% of what I like turn rancid on me now.🥴

Haha, "pomander" was a sneaky one, you just say it how it looks (like "Evander" or "salamander") because it's actually an English word! They are those Victorian-style preserved orange ornaments pierced with cloves, a lovely festive and nostalgic scent. Your reaction to L'Ombre dans l'Eau was funny! I see it as one of the most prestigious Diptyque scents because it was one of Lauren Bacall's signature scents
Jo Malone seems better value with 15 perfumes in it and the candles look better size. Lovely to see unboxing video of it
I recommend trying the Armani prive Santal Dan sha perfume and the serge lutens santal majuscule 😍😍

I used to work in Diptyque and they sell 10ml travel bottles of the Eau de parfum for £95 (not sure the amount in dollars)
Omg well at those prices the fragrances are a way better value than I calculated!!
@@laurenmaefragrance well to be fair, the 10ml travel sizes we sold were in like a metal case..but idk how much value that was adding because they were kind of flimsy haha i’m really loving the Advent calendar series btw🥰

Thank you!! I believe it’s the ColourPop Shadow Stix in Socialite and then I topped it with on the the sparkly topper shades from the Patrick Ta Holiday Palette but I feel like any sheet wet shine sparkle shadow would give a similar effect! 😊❤️

If they had fragrances instead of the hand creams I would say it is definitely worth it. The hand creams were disappointing.

Does anyone know whether the small candles have the sane scent throw?
I’m curious on the perfume boxes some are white and some are black. Is there a difference in them? You are so lucky to be able to buy all these boxes. I’m not sure if I’d ever buy one because I rather pick out something I really want for that cost. Thank you for doing these.👍🏻💓

Yes the black boxes are edp which are a stronger concentration and the white boxes are an edt which is lighter! 😊❤️

Watching you open day 25 was so disappointing for me-I was hoping it was an actual perfume bottle
those hand wash and lotion samples were soooo small…pretty disappointing
If you want to slightly increase your French pronunciation knowledge, the "é" makes an "ay" sound, like in "thé noir," so it would be more like "min-tay" or "men-tay" (not 100% sure as I only have an American high school level of French lmao)
2 more pronunciations that are common:
"eau" = "oh" (like in eau)
"oi" = "wah" (like in toilette)

Diptyque seems kinda sheisty and overpriced. Their soaps and lotions smell nice but the price is silly for the size. The least they could do is make the bottles a bit bigger.
Compare with the Jo malone one, this one didn't give the value.
