My sense of inspiration magnified 10 million percent: not only could I reduce the massive amount of space my setup takes in my tiny home, but it's also portable enough to rock up to your mates or even an open mic night and blow people's minds away: first they wouldn't take you seriously, but after they witnessed they'll be believers!!!!
Put off a big amount about that ground noise and the price tag, but hell yeah, this is dope!
As I mentioned on another channel about the sc500, I could imagine running 2 or 3 of these on an old skool mixer (or smaller) and mixing and scratching with these in the stage it takes up 1 deck alone!!!
Wanna see more progress on this for the ground noise (although there are alternate solutions I can think of plus the grounding mentioned in video), this looks awesome!

huge props to the man that came up with this idea and followed through with making the reality.
SC1000 - Digital Scratch Instrument could almost single-handly reinvigorate scratching and bring turntableism back into hip hop and help to bring turntableism in to other genres of music more consistently as well.....
If this could be connected wirelessly and with cables to an Android phone that could expand control its sample storage and playback on a simple touch interface sampler on an Android phone tablet. Wired/wireless MIDI has the potential to fuse this SC1000 - Digital Scratch Instrument with digital potential and simplicity. the true potential held in the palm of our hands in an Android/ Apple phone.
With just an SC1000 and a smartphone cabled together you could have the powerhouse sampling capabilities of an SP404 SX sampler/multi FX unit.
The software could allow you to custom trim and modify your own samples and trigger them with a press of the screen slash sampler pad
Then on the SC1000 you chop and scratch up your favorite samples in whatever way can imagine. The potential is great for this instrument to enable you to creatively add the art form of turntableism into your music productions.
All you would have to do is make it compatible with any smartphone app / software that could allow it to use MIDI to bind the samples to be triggered and manipulated via the SC1000.
If this was made functional with smart phone connectivity and MIDI control this would be the ultimate affordable tool for producers scratch DJs or musicians home studio add-on.
Also if it's totally impossible to control a software sampler/fx unit from a smartphone would it be possible to communicate data wirelessly or with Bluetooth between the SC1000 and a smartphone based HUD interface that couldn't control triggering the samples and scratching them live but maybe it could control the ability for the SC1000 to switch which sample in its internal memory is queued up for scratching.
That way at the very least you could see what samples you had by their labels in your kit and you could select the one you want to scratch with on the SC1000 but then the Android software would not have to do any of the hard lifting of the actual audio processing.
I should hope that an Android phone should be able to be synced up to this thing via MIDI cabled and wireless if possible.
But if it's totally impossible to fuse these two ideas together through MIDI, it's got to be possible to get them to connect and Android smartphone and the SC1000 to send hardware control changes from the hood / sample bank on an Android sampler app and trigger internal hardware state changes within the SC1000.
If somehow those things are not possible because of how the Android OS audio signals.
Another idea would be to expand it to have a micro SD card with at least as many sample pads and kits as there is on the SP404 SX.
If you could just somehow sink a cell phone to the SC1000 so that at the very least you had a visual screen telling you which sample you have selected so that there's no doubt what sample you're about to start scratching.
That way even at the simplest hardware instrument level you could have expanded sample storage as well as a screen based user interface that would allow you to name your custom samples so that at a moment looking at your screen each sample pads title tells you exactly what sample you have queued up to scratch.
Additionally to this other series of ideas concerning combining it with the brain and touch screen of a smartphone there is another set of features that could be implemented on the next generation maybe called the SC-2200
    Feature list SC 2200
-five favorites sample trigger buttons built into the side or the back of the SC1000 deck.... If you could press one of those buttons and automatically load one of your favorite samples instantly from the internal memory into the active q slot prepared to be scratched by the turntable.
    - If you had four banks of five sample trigger buttons that would give you 20 favorite slots for quick and easy practicing or performing with an
    SC 2200
    - another good feature would be a very small LED display that could give you quick and simple data about what mode you're in and which favorites bank you are connected to- if instead of a super cheap LED screen it could be cool if it were possible to use a micro LCD screen so that it would be possible to change out the firmware and enhance the screen's potential as a usable display with functions such as high contrast zoom features to adjust data on screen to a size where you can tailor it to your preference and comfort.
If possible to add a few effects into such a small footprint it would be phenomenal if you could use a few effects to better sculpt and shaped the sample your hearing as you're playing with it
    Potential onboard effects
If you had a three-band EQ you could easily filter or sweep your sample so that your chops on the tables could become more diverse and fluid with repetition as you morph the sound by sweeping frequencies in or out.
    Simple knob-based slicer FX
You could probably add a knob-based slicer in a tiny little footprint - if you pushed and activate button for the slicer you could grab a bit from the turntable with one hand and then release the turntable to adjust a knob that could control what size the slices it takes were. - would be especially useful if you could turn the knob for the slicer and choose your slicer settings visually before grabbing a slice from the turntable/sampler.
One button three knob tiny FX control zone could be designed like the Korg volka series to be very minimal in footprint - but if it could copy some of the functions of the pioneer RMX1000 FX unit you could condense some of its best FX features into a very small SC2200 portable turntable scratch slash sampler with on board effects
you could choose a few other Great FX that could be in the exact same footprints on the faceplate so it doesn't take up any extra space and it can easily use the same activate button and knobs as the slicer to trigger multiple different FX depending on which effect you have engaged on the FX unit selector.
It would be especially cool if you could have a couple different kinds of echo effects
    The possibilities are limitless
And yes I realize somebody could just connect it up with a chaos pad or a pioneer RMX 1000FX unit, however I was considering something that could in itself standalone on its own two legs as a powerhouse in multiple arenas but as an affordable piece of equipment so that it is within reach of most anyone that would be interested in having such a fantastic instrument.

Oh, wow, something like this but with pause/play, headphone cue output and the ability to sample from input would be an instant buy for me. Even more so with, say, 16 small trigger buttons or some other way of quickly jumping between samples. As it is, it seems excellent for a pre-planned set or for laying some cuts on a track, but not ideal for more of a wildly spontaneous looping improv type setup where you wanna catch sounds on the go and stuff. I'm not a dev, but I might have to look into if they take suggestions.

I really wish someone would take this idea, and take it to another level, where this device would be controller, and it would have a “sister” vst with it, that would have a virtual turntable on screen you could put any audio source in, and do it all on a track in your daw, like any other midi instrument, for example imagine “izotope vinyl”, but the record can be scratched, and a device just like this one is controller, i think it would be incredible and people would prob start putting scratches back in hiphop more, in current landscape, theres all these great dj apps, that do exactly what im describing, and have “dj controllers” but its all geared toward “DJing” and is priced to be like a “main set up” for a DJ, almost equal in price to a producer setting up a studio with daw n controller, but if someone could take that tech and simplify it, and reduce price, JUST specifically as instrument FOR scratching “within” song projects, so instead of full dj app, just one blank turntable, and little mini controller like this that producers can put next to midi keyboard, its honestly amazing to me what im descrbing DOSENT exist already lol, its like dj tech, and producer tech dont want to talk to each other lol

Ironically, I sold the SC1000 a few weeks ago. It's amazing for just plugging in and scratching, for real. It's well built and really smooth to use. I need something for live performances, having the ability to cue and pause sounds is super important in that regard. If not for that, I would have kept it! It's awesome putting your own sounds on it too. Thanks for the thorough comment and checking out the video!

Hey, I've been editing videos less and making music more. There are many ideas swirling, and only so much time! All the best to you.

@@jezwinski haha not mine :) How is the latency of the SC1000? I just discovered its existance. Does it compare to Serato on minimum buffer size settings?

Did a quick test recording on my SC1000. Trying to get audio and video synced was a pain lol. Need to see how to improve on this. Anyways heres the link - czcams.com/video/DK_iu-hYnPo/video.html

The white on black design is clean. Nice cuts too. You have modded software for that?

@@jezwinski Thanks.. Yeh I got the touch sensor disabled so it would behave like vinyl. I also wanted to use an actual vinyl for platter.

Thanks for the review. I'm not gonna buy it. It looks like a cheap ass
    toy. Too expensive.
