  • Since I was really satisfied with the performance of R12a (has a lot of brand names: Frostycool, Duracool, RedTek), I decided to do the same conversion to my Jeep Grand Cherokee. To my surprise, it works even better on the Jeep!

6:39 That sequential method of closing off the manifold valves and the engine is a good idea. No one else has done that. It's a minor tweak but probably worthwhile. How much does it cost for a shop to recover the old R134A?

yeah it definitely helps keep as most of the refrigerant in the actual system as possible. Some shops will do it for free, other might charge you a little bit. It really only takes a few minutes for them to recover it, so it's worth just calling them up and saying you have a project car you want to pull the AC off of and need the gas to be recovered.
