I also have a condition where my brain kinda fails and i cant see temporary. It’s usually around 2-6 hours long and i can still see light and a few colors but that’s it. But this is quite outrageous

    I would have used coconut hair grease, lotion, body spray, body cream, body butter, deodorant, chapstick, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, cooking oil, scented pencils, scented notebooks, toothpaste...all the coconut.

    The teacher really didn’t like the fact that the child was groomed and taken care of every day. Those products the mom was using are all lightly scented and barely noticeable. The teacher was pissed that the child looked loved well care for and clean. That’s what pissed her off

      *I’ve used that brand before and the teacher was right 😂 you can only use it in small amounts or it becomes super pungent...I stopped using it halfway through the product because as the day progressed so did the smell.*
      *I would actually have to spray my hair mid day with a fresh scented dry shampoo just as a way to neutralize the smell...the company needs to rework their formula but the teacher was COMPLETELY out of line & should have been reprimanded...just tacky & classless.*

      I used coconut oil as a hair treatment a few times when I was a teenager (my hair is not curly, but prone to breakage). My mother and sister nearly threw up at the smell and demanded that, as long as I lived with them, I find something else. - I guess some people are really bothered by the smell. To me, it smells like candy. My cat would eat it if I let him.

      @@thekingsdaughter4233 exactly. Coconut oil smells good for the first 12 hours but then it changes to a foul smell that can linger on clothes also. I personally do not like the smell of it after a significant amount of time wherever it was applied. It does stink to me.

      @@eveeboss coconut oil goes rancid really quickly... The best sealant oil IMO is grapeseed oil. It's odorless, perfect for skin and hair, lasts and lasts, doesnt clog pores... Grapeseed oil is the best for sealing moisture!

      She also used an apostrophe in the word “kid’s” which is incorrect. An apostrophe is used to show ownership. She should have used “ kids”, the plural of “kid”.     When my daughter enter daycare about 29 years ago she was the only biracial child in the daycare. I used to grease her hair with a coconut based grease that smelled wonderful. The first day she attended when I picked her up the teacher asked why my daughter smells so good like a chocolate bar. I told her about the product I used in her hair. She laughed in a good way because she said I couldn't figure out all day why your daughter smelled so good. So we had a totally different experience with our daycare center and it's teachers.
    What this daycare did to this beautiful child was horrible and I don't blame the mother for taking her daughter of that unsympathetic daycare.

    Bruh why did this exact situation happen to me. The teacher said she was allergic to coconut and asked if I could change my hair products btw I was in 5th grade. And she ask the class “ is my nose turning red”(her allergies) and everyone would look at me and I had to be sent out if the class multiple times etc. now that I think about idek why they pinned it on me I wasn’t the only black child in there with hair products that smelt good smh

    I'm a preschool teacher, and kids this age are HIGHLY impressionable. They will copy whatever their teacher says and does. If other kids were actually complaining (I highly doubt it), all the teacher had to do was comment how lovely Amia's hair smells. "Amia, your hair smells like cookies!" Then literally every other child would be begging their parents for coconut oil lol.

    I personally don't like the smell of coconut, but would NEVER tell a kid or his/her parents to change their hair products. That is crossing the line...Unless a child's hair is a health risk (i.e. lice) or unsanitary (matted, severely dirty), the teacher has no right to say anything. And even if the kids were complaining/teasing her, the little girl shouldn't be the one to change. If anything, it would be an opportunity for the teacher to talk to the kids about how personal preferences are different for everyone, and how to use manners/politeness/silence when you don't like something.

      Oh yes she should be fired for privately reaching out to a mother and saying her kid does not smell the best and she’s even getting picked on by other kids but even though it doesn’t smell good she still said she could wear it just not too much because she understands it might be needed, yes she should never be able to have a job again😁

      losing hair can be very traumatic and/or upsetting so im sorry you have to go through that. you’re right, joking about losing or not having hair is insensitive but understand that it wasn’t a malicious statement towards you or others, merely the teacher.     What a cutie...coconut smells wonderful...it's not perfume..won't cause allergies...it makes working with her hair type...easier on the CHILD!...I'm glad she found another places for her daughter
