    Just pulled my dads 1997 2055 Turbo out from under the workbench , been there for at least 13 years , blew the sawdust off it , pulled out the plug and checked it , threw in some gas , set the choke & pulled the rope , she fired right up. I couldn’t believe it , figured the carb would have been all gummed up.

    Nice repair Scott. Geeze, that handle design would not work for me unless I got that saw for free. I kept thinking about getting my Sawzall after it, lol

    Pre epa sure was great. Fired up and ran right from the cold start. Sharpen the chain, grease the clutch bearing and send it out. Good job on the HDA.

    I’ve had that metering diaphragm hole problem happen to me maybe 2 or 3 times now. Probably just multiple kits if I remember correctly

    • @TheGreasyShopRag
      @TheGreasyShopRag  Před 10 měsíci

      If I had ordered that kit and waited a week for it to show up only to be wrong then maybe I'd investigate further. You're probably right.

    Fuel mix ratios and older saws VS newer saws is sort of a 3 hour Jerry Springer Show arguement. My old Homelite was supposed to be broken in with a 16:1 mix and the oil was regular SAE 30 non-detergent. Smoked like Yellowstone and fouled the plug and exhaust port/muffler on day one of use. You could use Homelite oil of that vintage, drum roll; also 30W non-detergent at 32:1 and that was better. Then "One Mix" came along and that was better, but we always added some extra as we did not trust the "magic". Now, all is 50:1 with Echo Red Armour, including the 50+ Y/O Honelite; no problems.

    • @TheGreasyShopRag
      @TheGreasyShopRag  Před 10 měsíci

      That sums it up quite well. I didn't want to get into any of that and create an oil war!

      On a Gold Wing forum it is now considered laughable to start or participate in an oil thread.@@TheGreasyShopRag

    It’s a shame that Husqvarna quit making Jonsered just recently! Good repair that’ll last him another 10 years before it needs another carb kit!🤣

    Hey Scott! Been going through a bunch of your videos and I am i.pressed by your troubleshooting abilities.
    I'm curious. How many carb kits does your dealer have in stock? Seems like you always have what you need there!
    LATER!

    • @TheGreasyShopRag
      @TheGreasyShopRag  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Not sure exactly how many but we stock about 20 different zama and 20 different walbro part numbers. Usually we keep 3-6 of each number.

    Did you ever determine if the metering diaphram was assembled incorrectly or the carb kit was the problem?

    • @TheGreasyShopRag
      @TheGreasyShopRag  Před 10 měsíci

      I have to assume the kit was the problem because the saw has been in use for a while now without complaints.
