thinking of perhaps going with this Rav4 when it’s time to trade in my car (it’s a KIA) because we’ve recently started going on more road trips and have two dogs I want to start traveling with and this is probably the best amount of space for them! Great review. I think this just maaaaaay have convinced me to go with the RAV4 😄

Hi ! Vehicle trim will be black inside the Adventure Hybrid coming to NZ. Australia call it the edge. Exterior will be safari green. Tnx once again for the awesome video. Unsure if it has the moon roof. Actually I have heard people who have the panoramic roof and yet they never use it. Love your watch strap. Reminds me of the Hamilton watches. Tnx !

Buying an Adventure I will get my roof top tent on it asap and that’s exactly why I don’t need any sunroof up there 😂 btw I like your way of presenting this RAV4 a lot. Best of all I have seen these days! Only info I was still missing for an outdoorsy person like me: how the back might be usable when seat rests are down to stretch out for a nap or even putting in a sleeping pad. How long, how high and how wide is the back? Can you open the backdoor from inside?

@@Blackhawk556. Yes. My wife ended wanting the car! 😄 We get about 23-29 combined because most of her driving is short in hilly terrain. One the open highway she's getting 29-30 but she has a heavy foot. I believe the gas tank is about 14.5ish gals. I believe that the gearing in the transmission and differentials are different from the standard RAV4 to allow it to tow 3500 which also impacts the mpg. Good luck!
What a thorough look at this Rav4, great job! I prefer these wheels to the 2022 plain black ones. I will have to look if you have the 2022 review and soon the 2023. I am in Canada and we call the adventure a Trail here, love the orange accents and that is why I will be getting one when the 23's come out. I want one in Ruby red color and am so excited. Thank you for such a great review.

I was looking at the XSE or Limited, due to hybrid and gas saving. But the Trd rav4 I like more, because it’s a little more capable of what I want to do “ I think”
The hybrids hold their own as well! They can hit the trails too 💪🏼
Love that the RAV4 is made in Canada but it needs front tow hooks.

Nice review. I didn't know the adventure existed until after I bought my XLE with the convince package. I definitely would have grabbed the adventure. I love that orange in all the spots it's in. I love the 3,500 tow. I do have lunar rock 😀. The only thing that does not make sense with the adventure are the wheels. They look good but low pro tires on a off road living made vehicle, makes zero sense. I those in 17s , like 245/65/17 would make more sense. Which is what I did with mine. I grabbed up nicer wheels and meatier tires. I plan to do a 2 inch lift since it is 2 inch shorter than the adventure. Man, I do love that aventure!!! Detail and tow is wonderful!

Good review. 2022 lost perf/cooled seats and has a smaller infotainment system, but lower MSRP.
Would you choose the cooled seats for more $$$? (I love cooled seats)
@@brianruperti I think the Adventure is already a little pricey for what you get so probably a good idea they lowered the price. Cooled seats are nice but def more of a luxury item. Love the colors on the Adventure, wish more automakers did this, tired of the all black interiors on budget vehicles. Also like the almost complete absence of gloss piano black plastics. Now if I could just find one to buy!

Is it wider and longer than a XLE rav 4
For sure I am very happy with our Rav4 Trail (Canadian edition of the Adventure). But 1 thing I wish we could do was wireless Apple Car Play. Plugging into the USB feels like old tech. Also, you said it was lower ... um, our sales rep stated our Rav4 Trail was actually a bit more raised than the standard for better ground clearance for a bit of offroad use ... is that not true on the Adventure? Overall nice review of the Rav4 Rugged Adventure addition.
I agree w the plug in. My mistake the adventure is in fact a little higher ground clearance. That’s what I meant to say in the video sorry!

Where are the Adventure trims built: Japan, Canada, or US?
Also, can you cover the difference between the AWD system in the Adventure and the AWD on the other trims? I’d read somewhere that the AWD in the Adventure is different, but am not sure exactly how. Thanks.
The vehicles were built in Toyota's Tahara, Aichi assembly plant, and under contract by Toyota Industries in its Nagakusa, Obu, Aichi plant. Beginning in November 2008, vehicles for the North American market were built in the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc., Second Plant.

Not included, my 2021 moonroof was an option and no wireless charger. Other options mine has: heated steering wheel, cool and heated seats and power lift gate. All options.
What’s the difference on the adventure models , that allows you to tow more ?
Yes plus upgraded suspension and styling (plus tech)

Another nice review … but unless the vehicle has a Hybrid option I won’t be purchasing an ICE vehicle this time around. The colour is eye catching though … although I prefer the Cypress green more. 95% of my previous Toyotas were black, including my current one.
The infotainment screen is a distraction. Toyota’s design and engineering staff must have been asleep when some apprentice came up with this design. It looks like an after thought in my opinion.
Don’t get me wrong I’ve been a Toyota guy for the last 25 years and I’ve owned 11 or 12 Toyotas. But in this latest design of these floating screens in the middle of the dash is ridiculous in my opinion. It has turned me off to be honest and I’m struggling to decide what I want to get this time around for a new vehicle as I mentioned in a previous post when you reviewed the Prime.
That is just one of the design flaws in my opinion. One of the most glaring design flaws came with the Sienna when they placed the wiper back on the rear glass instead of underneath the spoiler where it was protected from the winter weather. It is beyond me what they were thinking when they decided to do that! I could go on but I’m not going to waste your time with my complaints about the Toyota.
By the way … look at Kia and Hyundai … they did their displays right … integrated into the dash. They also tucked the rear wiper under the spoiler on many of their models.

Yes but it will be expensive because it’s a custom job
I own a 2021 Rav4 Trail. Drives fantastic, excellent safety features, comfortable to no end. Problems occur at temperatures below -30, there is a continuous drain on the battery while parked. I am losing enough to drain the battery to below 11volts after 5 days. Ended up buying a battery maintainer, which is a pain. When I go to my cottage in the winter, I have to carry another 12volt battery in the back so I can boost the car to get it started. The cause? The computer and communication does not shut down while parked.
There are no hook points in the front to attach emergency pull points, and tie down a 17ft, 90lb canoe. The roof rack cross bars are spaced too closely together for let's say a 17ft canoe. The gas cap cover, allows ice to build up, jamming the opening. Door locks freeze up, making entry debatable in cold temps.
I like the vehicle though. Be warned the trailer hook up, is a flat4, not a 7 pin type.

@@brianruperti According to the dealer, the computer and communications do not shutdown when the Rav4 is turned off and parked. At -30 temperatures the battery drains, the vehicle needs to be ran every couple of days or else .I imagine that is the same for a lot of other vehicles, but it would great if battery monitoring is added to their phone app at the very least. The dealers solution for parking a number of days in the bush in the winter, was to disconnect the battery to stop the drain. I owned a 2009 Rav4 for 12 years, this is a different vehicle. The loss of the tow points in the front was a real irritation, with no easy fix.

@@brianruperti I'll do that, though my dealer (does have a great reputation, being Mennonite) had said my complaints have been mirrored by others and relayed to mother corp. I can imagine as we have had -40 to -60 windchills for most of the last 8 weeks.

I visited my local Toyota dealership today and the sales executive told me the Rav4 Adventure does not come with any mats and I'll need to purchase them as an add on.
We are starting to notice more cars coming from the factory without mats. Not sure why.

Toyota hybrid CVT is just planetary gear, just steel gear nothing else, its more reliable even then manual transmission.
I wonder as to why they didn’t add moonroof on the adventure 🥲
They made it optional because some people don’t like moonroofs. If the car is really doing some gravel trailing and rock crawling they might not want to risk popping the glass. Some people need more head room. Others prefer not to risk the expensive fix if it leaks or won’t close. I like moon roofs too.
