Psalm 104: 14-15: 14 He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for people to cultivate-bringing forth food from the earth: wine that gladdens human hearts, oil to make their faces shine, and bread that sustains their hearts.
Great message, thank you! Deuteronomy 14:26, God actually commands the Israelites to drink wine and strong drink at the Feast of Tabernacles. Would He tell them to sin? "And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the Lord thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household," No He would not. But getting drunk is another story.
Drinking is more of a wisdom thing than a sin thing. The question isn't CAN we do it, rather SHOULD we do it. Thanks for your thoughts. I agree that we can drink, but should stay in control.
There are many who misinterpret the scriptures. Many fundamentalists do this and have basically said that GOD said not to drink. But Christ turned the water into wine.
I appreciate this pastor. Drunkesnness is a problem in many societies on this earth, but freedom, not legalism is important. The Garden of Eden is how God portrays our allowable choices to make in this life.
Kenhai, David was referring to the effects of drunkenness. Jesus drank wine and wine was mixed with water to sanitize it. Read Matthew 11:29 and 1 Timothy 5.
AlexKenas- There were two types of wine in the bible. One fermented, that is the decay of the grape and the other non-fermented grape. Jesus drank the "fruit of the vine". There was nothing "alcoholic" about what he drank. He drank the fruit of the grape. So no, Jesus did not drink the fermented grape, but the pure (grape) juice of the vine. Jesus gives life, not takes life, like the alcoholic beverage does.
Proverbs 31:6 - Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. Psalms 104:15 - And wine [that] maketh glad the heart of man, [and] oil to make [his] face to shine, and bread [which] strengtheneth man's heart. Isaiah 1:22 Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water. (this one is not talking about real wine but using it as a metaphor. Notice that it says wine mixed with water is a BAD thing)
thanks you make more sense then most . I have an issue I I have sleeping problems and I've tried many many different drugs to be able to sleep , and it gets so bad that I'll fall asleep behind the wheel of a car and be in the other lane of oncoming cars. seems the only way I can sleep is if I drink before I go to bed it calms my mind and allows me to sleep, would it be considered legally drunk yes and I wouldn't drive. I'm a Christian and I feel guilty that I drink to sleep it's the only time I do , I tried every natural remedy that I could find , and I tried Leading sleeping pills available. on the sleeping pills I was sleepwalking and even heard my deceased mother's voice calling me I'm terrified of those they mess with your mind. so my question is am I sinning by drinking so they can get at least 3 to 4 hours sleep in a day. I can't remember the last time I slept 8 hours.
Can you imagine how awesome the wine tasted that Jesus made? I’m not a wine drinker but that would’ve been awesome.
Proverbs 20:1 "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby us not wise."

its some good herbal teas that can relax you. I take peppermint tea sometimes or even chamomile tea.
I drink 3-4 glasses to help me sleep the entire night. If I don’t I wake up at 2-3 in the morning for no reason and then can’t sleep.
Ken Bell Praying for you!
